From the reception area, to the exam rooms, there is not an inch of this place that isn’t wonderful. The genuine concern coming from each person in the facility is hard to find in any other practice. I started taking my 12 year old Chihuahua, Basco, here almost a year ago. He’s the love of my life, but not easy to handle. As the owner of a small feisty dog, it has been difficult to find a veterinarian who can care for him without him trying to bite their fingers off. The last vet we went to used 4 people to hold him down just to put the muzzle on. The moment I walked into the exam room at Whitestone Vet Care, the tech Janine put the muzzle on, no restraint needed. He was calm, relaxed, and didn’t even growl! This is very much out of character for him. The Doctors there are nothing less than brilliant. They are able to explain everything that my dog needs in the simplest and efficient way, and without making you feel like a horrible pet parent for not being aware of certain things for so long. The kindness of the staff and the knowledge of the doctors are what first inspired my love for this facility, but the exceptional care is what will make me continue to use their services. I would urge any pet parent to call them asap to give their pet the best care out there.

I recently adopted a rabbit. I live in Queens NY and was looking for a vet close by – but was willing to travel if it meant finding her great care. I was in luck - I found Dr. Starkey at Whitestone Vet Care. Although he is a board certified avian specialist, his knowledge of rabbits and their behavior is unmatched! When I first brought her in for an exam, I had a ton of questions being that I never owned a rabbit before. Dr. Starkey answered every one of them, and then some. He gave me advice on feeding her, her cage at home, behavior issues, - even medical conditions rabbits are prone to. He informed me how important it was to have her spayed to significantly reduce the chance of cancer. I had no idea that was even an issue with rabbits! His gentle care of her was impeccable! The girls at the desk, Laura, Nichelle and Sharon are all so helpful when I call with silly questions. They always take the time to listen and give me the best advice for the situation. The techs are wonderful as well – Rachel and Dayhanna always handle my bunny with such care and put both her and me at ease. I can’t tell you how happy I am that I found this place!!

I could sit here typing away all day, expounding upon the quality of care, organization, personal treatment, technology, guidance and a litany of other topics, of which they excel in all. But there is one aspect that may very well set them apart from all others. In the last weeks of a companion of 17 years of my life, they were in every possible way, the most accommodating regarding our combined comfort, going beyond the norm to foster ease in every respect. And while the myriad other things a vet must do are of considerable gravity, there is that time when the end is near, and one must face the inevitable. It is in these moments when doctors and staff can rise to a higher level of humanity, and that is precisely what one can expect of this organization. I am grateful every day that there are people who actually get it on that base-level. If this is of any importance to you as the guardian of another life, there is no finer care. I’ve been bringing my three and a half year old Yorki-Poo, Yodle, to Whitestone Veterinary Care for about two and a half years now. After several experiences with unprofessional, unkind, and uncaring vets, it was such a relief and comfort to find Dr. Wyler’s office. All of the Veterinarians are extremely professional and knowledgeable – taking the time to always answer any questions/concerns regarding medical procedures. Dr. Wyler and his staff also obviously care very much about each and every patient. The front desk staff and veterinary assistants are also very helpful and kind. Yodle was unfortunately a very sick puppy, but after being under the watchful eye of Dr. Wyler and his team, so no longer suffers from many of the medical conditions she was afflicted with when she was younger. I trust them to keep her healthy and happy, at a fair price, and with the same amount of love I would give her myself! I highly recommend!!!

My cat, Boots, had to have his tooth extracted and I was nervous about him going under anesthesia. Dr. Starkey explained the procedure to me and assured me he would take good care of Boots. Everything went GREAT and Dr. Starkey and his staff were very kind and personable. They also went above and beyond by calling me the next day to ensure that Boots was okay. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a Vet who truly cares about his "patients" and treats the animals with such a gentle and caring touch. As a member of the Whitestone Veterinary Care team it truly hurts me to read the words written by Carmen. As Carmen was not present with her friend and her dog it is unfair that she should be giving reports on what transpired. We can assure that the dog was stable, alert, and sitting up on her dog bed and not showing signs of illness or seizures while in our waiting room. We would never let a pet suffer if they were in an emergency state upon entering our facility. As our practice is a private clinic we directed Carmens friend to several not for profit and publicly funded facilities that are equipped to help those who are financially unable to care for their pets. We are happy to report that upon speaking directly with the client after their visit this pet was able to get the low cost medical care it required and is currently doing well and was grateful for our concern.

this is how every business should be!!!! everyone is so helpful EVERYONE from the front desk to the veterinarians to their assistants...the energy of this place makes me and for my dogs feel like home.....they truly care and honestly i am so happy i found a place like this.....its mom and pop places like this that you know your animals are in good hands.....i want to write a novel about this place because how lucky both my pets are to be in quality care........the prices are perfect and honestly i am so grateful to everyone at this office....if i was able to add more stars to my review i would add an other 100.....everyone in whitestone/bayside/flushing should bring their animals here.......and i want to say thank you to the entire office and staff for always being amazing......so thank you all =) from Penelope & Zeus woof woof woof

I have been bringing my 2 ferrets to Whitestone Vet Care for the past year. Sage and Koda are always treated very well by Dr. Starkey. He is extremely knowledgeable about exotics; especially ferrets. One of my ferrets was suffering from hair loss which Dr. Starkey told me is an indication of adrenal disease in ferrets. He confirmed that she had adrenal disease with a blood test and we decided that the best course of action for Sage was to get a melatonin implant. She got her implant back in February of 2011 and she has since grown a full coat of fur and put on some weight. Although she is not "cured" of her disease, it is being managed nicely by this implant. I will continue to come to Dr. Starkey with any questions that I have regarding my ferrets in the future. A+ vet and also a great support staff!!
