Dr. Malka is the only vet I will trust to take care of my bunnies. I first met him at the Humane Society in Manhattan where he neutered/spayed them. Hes the type of vet that will take the time to explain procedures and offer various options for care. When my Daisy began exhibiting a head tilt and signs of GI stasis, I knew I had to find a way to get her seen asap, but also feared the costs to get her the care she needed. Dr. Malka evaluated Daisy and offered different courses of action to take with her. Not once did I feel as though he was pushing needless procedures and exams to be conducted. Moreover, he worked with me to find an option I was comfortable with, financially. On top of everything else, on the day I picked Daisy up, he himself was scheduled for surgery the next day yet he stayed late (and talked to me for half an hr!!) to accommodate me coming from work as I could not afford to keep her there another day. Two days later, a day after his surgery, I get a call from him checking up on Daisys condition from the meds and her eating. I just could not say enough good things about Dr. Malka. He goes above and beyond for his little patients and their owners. Dont hesitate. It was hard to find a good exotics vet that I actually trust will not gauge the cost of care, and Im so glad I found Dr. Malka.

Yesterday Monday the 10th was our first day in this facility. Upon arriving for a general check up which costs $85 (great price considering hes a speacilist) the first visit we were quickly acomadated and put in a room to wait for Dr. Malka. Let me say the staff is friendly and the facility looks very clean. Dr. Malka was very informative and since this is our first hanhs macaw he spent a whole 15- 20 minutes explaining the Dos and Donts. After the first visit when taking our baby macaw home we found that he wasnt eating properly and was regurgitating his food and was having some very soft stool. Immediately concerned because like I said this is our first macaw and hes only about 6 weeks old we called the emergency line where we spoke to Dr. Reena. She walked us through the night and kept calling us for updates. Today still vomiting , we decided to call in to the vet to ask Dr.Malka to see him. At 8:15 I was already calling and Dr. Malka very kindly accepted us to come in without an appointment to see Cozmo. Luckily, everything is okay. Dr. Malka and his staff are completely amazing , if I could Id rate them 10 stars. If you want a place worth your money and where you feel your bird is good hands , dont hesitate.

We are really thankful and appreciative of the entire team at Long Island Bird & Exotics Veterinary Clinic. Had to bring my bird here due to an accident, and he needed to stay overnight to have blood work, fluids, pain meds and x-ray done. The Hospital is very clean and well kept. I couldnt be happier with the care my bird received from Dr.Renna, and Morgan the veterinary technician they could not have been more professional or compassionate during a really tough time with our little guy. Dr. Renna was kind to adjust the priced to suit my budget, and also gave me a discount. Kaitlin, the office manager called to give me an update about his progress the next day and told when I could pick him up. Today Morgan , the Vet Technician called to check in on how my bird was doing she is amazing, truly appreciate their genuine concern for my baby bird. I would not hesitate to recommend this hospital to anybody looking for expert care for their loved pet. Amazing vet, awesome staff!

I followed this DR before he had his own practice. Before i go i always ask for pricing so im not hit with prices when i get there. I called a few time and spoke to DR Reena and was quoted a price. When i got there with my bird i received an estimate for about $180 more. After looking at the bill. $50 for miscellaneous , $49 for over night stay ( my bird was going to be there for less then a 2 hrs . 101 for sedation , 200 for the implant 10 for waste. and few other things. I would not have made an app if i knew the bill was going to be $455. This was not an emergency nor something that needed to be done. Dr malka was away on vacation BUT Dr reena stated she spoke to him. long story short this didnt end well. I walked out , They lost a good customer with 3 parrots and lost a good dr when he is in the office. I should of never trusted an intern to care for my birds. sorry and be well. They are good vets , just question your bills !!

I am so impressed with Dr. Malka and his staff at Long Island Bird and Exotics Veterinary Clinic and I highly recommend this clinic! I brought my rescued bunny, Duffy, in for his check up, neuter and an infection. The vet techs and Dr. Malka were extremely helpful in educating me about rabbit care and in showing me how to administer Duffys medication. Everyone was competent, patient, kind, and truly interested in helping my little guy out. I was very pleased to learn that I could leave a message for a doctor who would get back to me and come in to see Duffy (if necessary) if Duffy ran into trouble--no need for me to run to one of those 24 hour emergency places that dont really know exotics. Also, look into the well-care membership and the great volunteer work that Dr. Malka does abroad for underserved wildlife. If you have an exotic pet, I highly recommend this clinic to you for your pet. Thanks, again, for taking such good care of Duffy!

Ive been taking my rabbits and guinea pigs to Dr. Malka for years (before he opened this new clinic). He has tons of experience and keeps up with the latest innovations and advancements in exotic pet medical care. He is an expert in endoscopic surgery and his clinic is very well equipped. His front desk people are warm and knowledgeable about exotics, too. One of the many things I like about Dr. Malka is that he is very responsive over email. I dont have to jump through hoops to ask him something, which is nice when I just need a quick answer. The atmosphere of his clinic is quite relaxed and they dont freak out if Im late, which happens often enough since I drive over from Brooklyn. Hes not cheap, but thats par for the course with exotic pet vets. His prices are comparable with other NYC specialty vets and he offers an annual membership that can reduce costs a bit.

Dear Rabbit Folks: i have worked with Dr. Malka as both a rescue and pet owner. Dr. Malka has recently opened up his own practice and we are continuing to work with him. i can say that his clinical and surgical skills regarding rabbits and exotics is top shelf. He is thorough, wants to get to the bottom of your pets health issue, truly wants to help you and your pet. He is ready willing and able to go all out to treat and cure your pet as is best possible. We are a rescue and Dr. Malka has been very kind generous wanting to help our rabbits from day one at the Humane Society and even now at his own practice. You can feel totally confident that your pet will get great care . His prices are reasonable too; the staff is friendly and the office is organized and super clean. Its a pleasure to visit his practice. Vivian Barna, All About Rabbits Rescue, Inc.
