Unethical vets. My dog has an outside insurance that pays 90% of all vet bills (which the vet knew about). My dog was on an antibiotic for two weeks and at the follow-up appointment he had lost two pounds. My dog was eating but wasnt crazy about his current food (Blue Buffalo Chicken and Brown Rice). I asked the vet about his weight loss and if she thought that changing his diet might help. I thought maybe he was tired of his regular food. I told the vet that I was interested in trying Blue Buffalo Wilderness half can and half dry (as I thought the canned food might be more flavorful.) The vet said to go ahead and change his diet. The vet who had not noticed the weight loss, as I had to mention it to her, then proceed to recommend $900 worth of testing which involved sedation. At first I thought okay the vet knows best, but after talking about it with family I decided that I should try changing his food before putting my dog through the stress of sedation and a day full of testing. I called and asked the vet if it would be okay to wait two weeks to do the testing, as my dog was eating like a pig on his new food, and see if he would gain the weight back on his own. The vet replied, "Because he is SO SKINNY WE WOULDNT WANT HIM TO SUFFER ANYMORE BUT WE CANT MAKE YOU DO THE TESTS." I decided that their response was ridiculous as my dog was at an ideal weight two pounds heavier, and my dog is not a small dog (he is chow and german shepherd mix) so I didnt think he was suffering at two pounds lighter. My dog was continuing to act normal and playful even at two pounds lighter. The vet knows that my dog has insurance and instead of caring about him she saw him as a cash cow. I decided not to do the testing and my dog gained the two pounds back in two days. At the end of the day he is my baby and I had to protect him from this vet who wanted to treat him like a test rat just to make money. Later, I asked the vet to fill out his insurance claims form and the vet put that I did not follow her recommendation for regular care, even after he gained his weight back. I dont think her recommendation of $900 worth of testing and sedation would be considered regular care. I would like to see her ask someone who doesnt have insurance to pay $900 on tests because their dog lost two pounds. Needless to say, I am glad I protected my dog from this vet and I will not be returning.

Very disturbing visit! Got to my appointment only to be told that Dr. Kinser would not see me or my pet because I keep coming in for the same thing and I do not follow his advise. Are you kidding me? Talk about being blind sighted! The first time Ive ever heard that one from ANY Vet. Obviously I bring my pet there to be treated. How is that not following advise? First off, my pet is chronic, so yeah, there will be repeat visits. My pet hadnt even been there for over 6 months AND I have the Special program that allows unlimited vet visits. So does that mean, one really does not get to use that option? It certainly appeared that way!! Ridiculous what you have to go through to get a REGULAR appointment and not something that the Program has on its schedule. This visit was actually for something very different than a chronic issue. I explained that the Dr. must be thinking I am someone else because I follow vet recommendations and could I just talk to this Dr. Kinser in person to see what exactly he was talking about. The receptionist, Nicole, told me that he refused to even come to the waiting area to talk to me. I really think that the receptionist may have relayed information incorrectly to this Dr. Kinser and something got lost in the transition, but Nicole said he still refused to talk to me. I have never had such a strange and disturbing experience with this Nicole and Dr. Kinser in any situation. She relays that this Dr. Mathew Kinser will not see me or my pet or even come out to waiting area to talk to me. I think he is a new Vet and is incompetent in what he does! I truly believe he must have been intimidated by my knowledge of pet medicine and the treatment of my own pets for over 30 years. Id say I have more experience than he! When you bring your pet to a scheduled appointment, No patient should be told they will not be seen by the Dr. because the Dr. THINKS the patient is not following directions! Are you for REAL? The receptionist Nicole and Dr. Kinser give Banfield a VERY BAD NAME!!!

THE WORST VET HOSPITAL IN THE VALLEY; BOTH LOCATIONS PEORIA AND AVONDALE. There is a saying, the fish smells from the head down. The owner is teaching by example and both locations bar none have the worst customer service we have ever experienced starting with the Doctor, down to the employees. Good thing we only purchased our prescription food for our cats there, because I cant fathom taking my cats or dogs to a place like this for medical reasons where customer service is at the bottom of their list. We were treated horribly every time we tried to pick up our food; it was more important for them to stay on the phone and let us stand there endlessly, then to help their customers; it was easier for them to push us off to the Surprise Banfield than to call that location to fax information that they needed to better serve us. You would think after buying food three or four times, the information would be correct in their system, but instead of taking responsibility, they blamed us every time for the mix up. Would this be a place you would want your pets medical needs met, when they cant even get it together enough for something as simple as a refill for prescribed food? I wouldnt want to take that chance. The bottom line, if you are looking for a great vet, call All Star Animal Hospital in Surprise. Their customer service is excellent, the doctors care about their business and dont brush their clients off to other locations because building relationships, great customer service and medical care is what they are all about. RUN FOR THE HILLS AND FIND A PLACE THAT WOULD BETTER SERVE YOURS AND YOUR PETS NEEDS. COMPLETELY INCOMPETENT ON ALL LEVELS.

I wish I could give more to these wonderful people at Banfield on Dysart Rd. I rushed in there with my 7 week old puppy Bella. She was not doing good. The doctor and the staff were just phenomenal. Outside of my hysteria they went above and beyond to care for Bella. They did everything they could plus more. I can not thank them enough for this. They did not let my family down when it came to the fact that they genuinely and honestly cared. As far as their professionalism and people skills (for the lack of a better term) were excellent. I cant put it into words how much it meant for me and my family that these beautiful people took such great care of us.
