As the dentist at Camelback family Dentistry, I would like to respond to the review posted by Wael Elraghy. Mr. Wael Elraghy first presented to our office on 12/6/2013 complaining of severe pain in the upper right side of his face pointing out the area of tooth #4 + #5. He was seen by my colleague Dr. Sowjanya Tadakapalli. Dr. Sowjanya noted severe bleeding of the gums in the #4 + #5 area but no other problems. Dr. Sowjanya referred Mr. Elraghy to our hygienist, Vickie Harness for a deep cleaning of the upper right area. The deep cleaning was done on 12/6/2013. The patient was not seen again in our office until 1/8/2016 when he again presented with the same complaint, severe pain in the #4 + #5 area. We took x-rays of the area and again found no obvious problems. The teeth were free of decay, had no previous fillings and there was no indication of any nerve abscesses. The only obvious problem was severe gum inflammation with bleeding on touch and calcium build-ups under the gums evident on x-ray. Since the deep cleaning helped with the pain in 2013, I suggested that the patient have a full mouth deep cleaning with our new hygienist Alfredo. The patient returned the following day and saw the hygienist who took a Full Mouth Series of X-rays, evaluated the conditions of his gums and then proceeded to do a full mouth deep cleaning. The patient returned to our office on 1/13/2016 still complaining of pain in the #4 + #5 area. At this time I still could not determine the source of his pain and I suggested that he see an endodontist (root canal specialist) and have the nerves in both teeth evaluated. I proceeded to give the patient a referral to Millennium Endodontics to have the teeth checked for possible nerve damage. The patient returned to our office on 1/15/2016 and stated that he went to a specialist (Not Millennium Endodontics but Valley Endo instead), and they told him that after examining his teeth under their microscope, that he has a fracture in his tooth #4 and they recommended root canal therapy. The patient was seen again on 1/16/2016 by the hygienist who checked the outcome of deep cleaning. At this point the patient feels that his "deep cleaning" was not necessary since it did not eliminate his pain, and he demanded a refund for the money spent on the deep cleaning. English is not the primary language of this patient and we could not successfully communicate to this patient that he definitely still needed the deep cleaning even if it was not the direct cause of his pain. The patient filed a complaint with the Arizona State Dental Board who reviewed the case and found the complaint to be unfounded. Their exact words were, “The Arizona State Board of Dental Examiners Investigative Staff has reviewed the information you and the complainant provided and did not find evidence to substantiate you violated the Dental Practice Act. Therefore, pursuant to A.RS. § 32-1263.03(A), the complaint is terminated.”

Do not make my mistake!! Looking for a new dentist in the Phoenix area I came across this location and made an appointment...excited they got me in the next day. Now I know why, they dont have any return clients. The dentist didn't even tell me her name when she entered the room...looked in my mouth for a minute and then said "you have seven cavities, do you have any questions." What!! I continued to tell her that was odd bc i had never had more than 1 cavity in my life and she followed up by asking me if i ate a lot of candy?! Very socially awkward lady could not hold a conversation. The doc said they could show me with a camera then left...the assistant could not work the camera so they said they could show me when I came in for the fillings....UM NO! It was pretty much a training center, no one knew how to do anything....everyone was interrupting the lady cleaning my teeth to ask questions. Then the lady cleaning my teeth mentioned she was going back to school and when I asked what she was going back for she said dental hygiene. So she was not a dental hygienist?? I should also say she cleaned my teeth in 10 !!!! Very unprofessional office...I do not trust them, will not go back!

not happy to say this but if your teeth hurt I dont recommend going there based on bad experience ! they misdiagnosed me, last week I went there with a sever pain ( upper eight side ) and they said whats causing the pain is that I havnt done cleaning for a long time and the only way to get rid of the pain is to do a deep cleaning SRP for all 4 sides which of course cost me $850 then after I left the pain still the same , went back again couple days later they send me to Endodontic , went there and I found out that I have a tooth fracture and need to do root canal and thats what was causing the pain ! yes I paid $850 for their mistake! and Im in a process of taking a legal action

I took my boyfriend here for a chipped tooth. We were shopping around to find a dental crown. Upon walking in, the receptionist was completely rude and lacked any sort of customer service. We waited well past our scheduled appointment time. When he was finally taken back, we both were appalled at how unsanitary this office was. I was afraid that their metal implements we not sterile as well and was nervous for them to even get near his mouth with them. We pretty much ended the appointment, paid for his x-ray (which I should not have done) and left. To sum this up, I will never go back to the dentist office. It was terrible.

Waste of time! Waited about one hour to get the x-ray done. After about 30 minutes a older Gentleman rushes in the room I was waiting in, glanced at the x-rays and tells me that the tooth needs to be pulled. Not only did he not even introduce himself and I was unaware that this was Dr. Oliveri but he also didnt give me any explanation why I would approve the radical procedure. After I said that I just want the filling replaced that fell out he left without saying a word. A while after this confusion interaction a assistant came by and handed me a referral paper. How can a business exist like this?

My visit at Camelback Family Dentistry was nothing short of amazing! I happened to visit on patient appreciation day where there was delicious food and drinks offered while I waited as well as to eat after the appointment. The receptionist was very inviting and personable, I felt right at home and comfortable in the waiting room as well as when I was getting work done. Camelback Family Dentistry was the best dental office I have visited and is conveniently located near ASU, which made it easy to commute to as a student, I would definitely recommend this dentistry to my friends and family.

I had been looking for a new dentist for what seemed like forever and finally settled on this location. They had a wide range of appointment times and days to choose from, which means I didnt have to skip work to end up getting drilled on. They ended up getting me in on a Saturday even. Dr. Balan is a good dentist, super nice, and asked a lot of questions. The staff is really great as well. They helped with an insurance issue I was having withoutany problems. I would recommend Dr Balan to anyone in the area thinking about changing dentists!
