Had my first appointment with Dr. John Nakhla at his new Castro Valley location today. I previously saw him for several years in San Ramon. Dr. Nakhla has always gone out of his way to make me comfortable and less anxious. He cares about his patients comfort, and also doesnt rush through... he actually takes the time to get to know each person on an individual basis and cares about them. Unlike many, Dr. Nakhla doesnt worship at the altar of the almighty greenback and therefore doesnt maximize his profits at the expense of his patients. I have always felt he truly cared about what was in my best interest. He has principles he will not sacrifice and as a result, makes a little less money, but can sleep very well at night and be satisfied with the person he is and what he puts out in the world. He can do very well for himself WHILE AT THE SAME TIME doing good in the world and having a completely clear conscience. Today I also met many of his staff... they were all great as well... from Eva and Linda at the front desk, to Erica (who took me back), and Debbie, the hygienist. There are a couple other names I forgot (please forgive me to those people...). In particular of the other staff, Debbie/Debby (sp?) really spent a lot of time with me doing the cleaning, giving me advice, patiently listening and replying to my concerns, and did it all in a very non-rushed (like I mattered) way... even though it was time for lunch and her stomach was growling :-). And they practice out of a converted old house-like building, which is clean, nicely decorated (it even has nice RELAXING saltwater aquarium) and with GOBS of charm (even the bathroom!)... and the olde-skool electrical light switches are another small example. Thank you to everyone at this office! You guys are a class act and I am very grateful I have you to take care of my dental health!

I have been with Castro Valley Family Dentistry for over thirty years and I have moved 5 times and I now travel over 60 miles. The dentists have come and gone but the quality of dental care is the best. I am a survivor of a childhood dentists that rarely gave novocaine. The staff and Dr. Nakhla are wonderful. I just returned from an appoint with Dr. Nakhla. I had to replace my night guard and panicked that it did not fit like my first. My first night guard was so comfortable I looked forward to put them in at night to protect my teeth from my incessant grinning. Dr. Nakhla and his staff are comforting and put my mind at ease and refitted my new night guard and Im confident Dr. Nakhla will adjust them until they are as comfortable as my first night guard.

Yes, I too had a bad dentist experience when I was a kid tha led to fear and neglect of my teeth. When Dr. Nakhla took over the Castro Valley Family Dentistry I was going thru a period of frustration regarding my dental situation. Dr. Nakhla went above and beyond to make me comfortable, explain solutions to my concerns, and was very patient with me during this process. Hes very professional, cares about his patients and makes sure their needs are met. Im grateful for that. Ive known his staff for many years and you wont find a more courteous and caring team that will always make you very comfortable. And, if youre unfortunate to have a "dental emergency" they will be your best friends. Yes, I recommend the Castro Valley Family Dentistry to everyone.

This office is an awesome place where everyone try their best to comfort you and provide you with a great customer service, they will even go above and beyond your needs just to take care of you. Special thanks to Dr/ John Nakhla for always taking the time and the effort to make sure that I am always taking care of. I will definitely recommend this clinic if you are searching for a new Dentist to follow up with and I am sure that you love this place and never change it.

Today I went in for a small filing and ended up having to have a crown repaired with a filing under it. I personally do not like be numbed and the after feeling, so I asked if we could do it without. They said, yes, so we did. The assistant and Dr. were great with me and went at it slow, so I felt very little pain. Thank you, Dr Nakhla I really appreciate your patience and care to make todays experience a pleasure to be there and to want to come back to your office.

I absolutely love the staff here. They are courteous, warm, and friendly. I actually followed Dr. J from his practice in Pleasanton. He is hands down the best dentist Ive ever had. He extracted my sons tooth and it was over before he realized anything had happened. My family loves Dr. J and his staff.

Very knowledgeable and friendly practice. I have been going here for many years and they are great. The new owner is making many upgrades to the equipment and the office. Dr. Shimane is super nice and when I have to get a novocane shot it doesnt hurt at all.
