really upset with my experience at newport mesa animal hospital... disappointment #1: i had made an appt for my pup for dental over e-mail and an appointment was confirmed until few days prior, i get an e-mail telling me that we had to be rescheduled because the tech isnt going to be in. what an inconvenience. disappointment #2: showed up to our appt with the receptionist saying that ill receive a call with estimated cost before they proceed the anesthetic dental cleaning. never received a call, nor a missed call until i find an e-mail in my inbox stating that they tried to reach me via phone and that theyre about to perform the dental, without my permission on cost. i called back asking for the estimate and they didnt have that ready, i got put on hold for 5 minutes until they came back and told me that the dental plus vaccine was going to cost me $1000. and that theyre going offer 15%, so that makes it $850. basically, they didnt have their s*** together and couldnt even tell me how much it was going to cost, and stated "hes already under anesthesia and well let you know when hell be able to be picked up". basically, they performed the operation without my consent. disappointment #3: e-mailed TWICE to request for the itemized bill and in return got crickets. grand daddy of all disappointments: i showed up to the office to find that my bill totaled $1132, that was WITH the 15% discount. wait, im sorry, i thought it was $850, how did it go up by almost $300?? i request for an explanation on why 1) my bill TRIPLED from our last anesthetic dental 2) why the bill was so disgustingly high. and i got back the following excuses 1) we made some system upgrades 1.5 years ago and the system helps cauclates our cost and there has been price adjustments since 2) were trying to hire more experienced staff hoping you can see the value in the service (along with the price hike). im appalled. honestly thought newport mesa was different from other vets around town, but looks like theyre all the same. after the money. this isnt even our first time getting an anesthetic dental here either! it has never costed this much in the past. looks like were back on yelp, looking for a honest vet, that conducts honest business, and asks for owners permission before any operations.

I have brought all my pets to Newport Mesa Animal Hospital for over 10 years and they have been consistently professional, reliable, and trustworthy. Dr. Tom is the best Veterinarian I have come across and his passion for animals and dedication to his craft is exceptional. His experience can be seen in his ability to determine the problems most times with a (very thorough) physical exam and only orders procedures when necessary. He is great with communicating a plan of care and explains issues in an easy to understand way. The rare times we had to take our pets to another hospital (after hours) we were reminded that not all Veterinarians are created equal. The other places wanted every test imaginable and used fear tactics to encourage us to do the tests which were costly, put our pets in more stress, and results were negative (every time). I have referred Dr. Tom to friends who needed a second opinion and they were as pleased with the visits and continue to go to NMAH. Thank you Dr. Tom and staff for giving us peace of mind by caring for our pets the way you would your own and for keeping our pets healthy and happy!

Drs. Aldridge and Tom, along with all the staff at NMAH were always very kind and compassionate towards my girl. I always felt confident that she was getting the best treatment options and care, whether we were dealing with routine things, like vaccinations and teeth cleaning, or more serious issues. On my last visit, I met Dr. Day, who couldnt have been kinder in explaining my dogs condition, the gravity of it, my options, and most of all the amount of suffering she was experiencing and would continue to suffer. I think Dr. Day even got a bit teary-eyed as I planned my final good-byes, which tells you how much everyone at this practice cares for our creatures. When Im ready to bring another dog into my life, there is no question that Ill go back to this group. Additionally, as I think new clients wonder about this, I think their pricing is very affordable, especially given the neighborhood.

was a client of dr. tom for 6 yrs, after the upgrade, to his business seem to me as if im dealing with the government . my pet had gain 12 lbs in one week, and all i got from him in the waiting room was "calorie in calories out".check the charts ?? did not turn in insurance forms for a extensive visit. posted 2 appointments on line never receive a call , called the front never a call back. . had an emergency could not get in., then receive a call form a guy and told me something , i should have done which was not offered at the time of the call. $7500.00 dollar spent in the years with him?? dont think dr,toms has keep his hometown dr. attitude. the office is now answer machine protocol and online appointment and thing are slipping by him.. who tells the boss there was an error? 90% of your customers are happy, that is good for you. although not for me..

Newport Mesa Animal Hospital was very attentive to the needs of my 2.5 year old Aussie Shepard and I. Banjo came in with a toenail injury that was very severe. Although we did wait in the waiting room well beyond our appointment time, Dr. Tom assessed the issue and took care of it immediately. Banjo needed the toenail entirely removed- this procedure only took about 30 minutes (including a toenail clipping and vaccine updates) and my pup was back to normal almost immediately. Dr. Tom is very casual in his appearance but professional in his practice. I would recommend Newport Mesa Animal Hospital to anyone. The techs are loving and the facility is clean. I liked them on Facebook and received a free toenail clipping, which was very nice to cash in.

I would highly recommend Dr Aldridge to anyone looking for a holistic vet. My neighbor had told me about her when her dog was diagnosed with liver cancer and had a softball size tumor growing on her liver. She was considering Chemo and a 7k surgery which I told her would kill her dog. I had recommended alternative ways to boosting her immune system to fight the cancer and Dr Aldridge had put her on Chinese herbs. Within a week she was running around like nothing was wrong and within 2 months her liver values were back to normal. That was over a year ago and shes still going strong.

Dr. Tom has been my vet ever since he came to the Newport Blvd. address. He has shown nothing but compassionate care and understanding in the care of my animals and to me during the tough times of loss. The crew, from the office to the back help have always been helpful and professional on all levels. I now enjoy and love Dr. Aldridge for her loving and patient demeanor, and willingness to explore the alternative health care of our animals. Thank you for all the great years, from my present brood of critters and from the many now past, In loving kindness, pierrette
