The Internal Medicine service is subpar. Students or Residents do not understand patient history prior to appointments and the faculty have no concept of on-going care. They refused to investigate my cats pleural effusion and blamed it on her well-controlled cancer even though Oncology specifically said it was not a cancer process. After many months and over $20K - and a surgery to remove her pericardium, Internal Medicine says my cat is an enigma and they are baffled. But after specifically stating it wasnt a bacterial infection - it is one. So, her infection has gone untreated for 6 months while Internal Medicine and Cardiology refused to investigate - which also puts my other cats at risk of infection. We are in for 4-6 weeks of antibiotics PLUS whatever damage having this infection untreated for 6+ months. Shameful. Absolutely shameful. Stay the hell away from Internal Medicine at UC Davis VMTH. Pro Tip: Avoid Drs. Jonathan Dear, Katherine Skorupski, Jenna Burton, Josh Stern, and absolutely Della Maggiore
