I cant say enough good things about everyone at this pet hospital! They helped me tremendously, when no one else would. I tried to rescue a dog that had been abandoned and left alone chained up and starving in an apartment complex in my neighborhood. I fell in love with the dog, but because I have 3 rescued pit bulls, one of whom is afraid of other large dogs, there was no way I could keep him. I was trying to place him for adoption through Facebook, and I emailed the Fresno Bully Rescue. Then, during his week at my home, unfortunately, the dog displayed some aggressive behavior towards my kids. I agonized about what to do with him. Our shelters are so full of dogs like him, and he had already had a life full of suffering. I could not put him through being at a shelter, afraid and alone, in a cage, only to end up being euthanized. I talked to Animal Control, but all the websites of rescues, or shelters that they recommended stress that they will only adopt out non-aggressive dogs.I did not trust the dog around my kids, and felt he was not suitable to put up for adoption, but it was a VERY difficult decision for me, and I felt that I needed a qualified opinion. I asked the vet that I have used for years for help, and the only thing they said was that they dont do "convenient" euthanasia. That upset me. None of this was convenient. It was terrible, and I felt stuck. I called Hanford Veterinary Hospital, and they were so caring, and compassionate, and told me that they would help me decide what was the best, and most humane thing to do. Very sadly, they confirmed what I was afraid of, that he was probably not safe to adopt out to another family. It broke my heart, but I stayed with "Buddy" till the end, and the procedure was done was compassion and kindness. They truly helped me so much with such a tough situation, and I am very grateful to everyone there. The cost was reasonable, and exactly what they had told me it would be when I called. A little less, even. NO hidden fees, or charges. This place is what every veterinary clinic should aspire to be!

We LOVE this vet. They work with us on all our dogs (we have 6 -- from a tiny Chihuahua to a huge Ibizan, plus our Xolos and Viringo -- who are very unique in their needs). We started working with them because they were near our home in Coalinga, and we are SO satisfied with their exceptional consideration and knowledge, that we now drive 2 1/2 hours to take our dogs there, no matter what. We have such a fantastic trust in them that its worth the drive. And we have always found their charges reasonable, and they will work with us to keep expenses to a minimum. One time, when I was in San Francisco for work and ran out of medication for one of our dogs, they MAILED a new prescription to me, and it got there THE next day! We had one elder dog who was fading fast, and with their help we designed a hospice care that extended her life another 6 months, and it was a very high quality 6 months, thanks to their long distance help. She was able to pass away quietly at home, amongst her lifelong companions. We will be forever grateful for that. They bend over backwards for our dogs, and even though we have moved an additional 1 1/2 hours away, we will still ONLY bring our dogs to them. Roo, Bugg, Nochehuatl, Chicharron, Uuki and Whisper send their thanks to you, for the great care (and reasonable costs) that you provide. Keep up the good work, we know our dogs are in the best hands with you all.

Best vet I EVER HAD. I have always had multiple dogs but it took me 25 YEARS to find vets as good as all the doctors at Hanford. I have never before been, but finally am, happy with my pets care. I dont understand the negative reviews Ive read and all I can think of is, "plants" from other competing clinics writing this stuff. I have never had anything but the most courteous and polite and caring service and treatment from the front staff, the doctors or any of the other staff. NO hidden costs, EVERYTHING discussed up front, EXCELLENT prices. I cant see how other people can claim the exact opposite. I moved to a ranch in Lockwood and even though it takes me 2 hours to get to Hanford, I do it, because its the best care my pets have ever had, and the best customer service I have ever received. I have rare breeds, they handle them great. I have old dogs, young dogs, no problem. Theyve had tumors removed, Valley Fever, internal bleeding, recurring bladder infections, pancreatitis, and other problems. Prices and procedures are always discussed up front and nothing has ever been done without my consent. They have worked with me in finding the best/least expensive way to handle problems with my dogs when I have been low on funds and cant take the most expensive though sometimes best route. I will continue driving the distance and I recommend them highly.

Hidden charges, awful customer service. The office managers are rude, and refuse to listen. They quote one price and then come up with hidden charges at check out. Asking questions, setting cost limitations, and receiving verbal assurances prior to treatment is in vain. They misrepresented diagnosis: after $300.00 on tests the vet told me my kitty would be fine, another $330.00 later the Vet told me she could relapse at any time which means MORE costs - I had specifically said that if she had an incurable disease I would have to put her down; its not humane for her to suffer like this. The final bill exceeded estimated and authorized cost by almost $100.00, and the staff were very rude when called on the discrepancies in billing.... I am very unhappy and would stress that if youre looking for a vet, stay away from Hanford Vet Hospital. The Vets are kind, its everything and everyone else there thats a nightmare.

I have been so happy with all my visits here. I have 3 dogs now but have been taking all my animals (cats & dogs) here for years. There are many vets working at this hospital. They really all are fantastic. My animals have been seen recently by Dr. Rhett Swasey. He is an exceptional DVM! If you want to see a particular vet. just ask you might have to wait but it is possible. Their office staff is so accommodating and always have a smile on their face, you can tell they enjoy working here. Also the vet techs are so friendly and I believe have an honest love of dogs and cats they see. I am often told to go to another vet in another nearby city because of price. I have to really consider is my pet worth maybe paying a little more for to get this personalized care? I believe it is! Spend your dollars here, you wont regret it!!

Not sure what the one star bad review about the "hidden costs" is all about but Ive been a return customer for 5yrs and I can say thats either a false claim or very misconstrued. Costs ARE always VERY clear and discussed with every visit. Im always VERY satisfied with their care of my fur babies. The staff loves my pets as their own while visiting. Im a rabbit owner and have always had problems finding consistent quality care in the area. They now have 2 "exotics doctors" so I dont have to wait till TTh for my buns to be seen :D BIG PLUS!! I have had every one of my rabbits past & present seen here. I DO wish however theyd carry the rabbit vaccines :( (thats why not 5stars) Neutering and regular check ups are always done here, along with other surprise concerns that may come about.
