Exact same experience that I read of Teds review. I went in to La Jolla Family Dentistry to use my insurances free services. When I get there I hear the office lady telling this mother of this kid he needs to come back in for his laser deep cleaning. I hear the office lady talk about someone else that has to come back in because their laser was faulty [Note: I look online and see a faulty laser on a wrong wavelength can be indeed harmful, but I dont know if it was on wrong wavelength just faulty]. The dentist is complaining to the office lady about some bad x-rays. I hear the office lady calling someone on the phone multiple times, which was for a laser deep cleaning. So Im curious what is going on with this laser deep cleaning, but I dont ask. They took an x-ray, which now I cant get use of my free x-ray since they probably charged that to my insurance, and then started to go on about their lasers that I "needed". I asked about why and what was happening, which I got no response as to why besides things will get worst, but what things? I look online I see all sorts of terms that should be used if there was an actual problem. Im assuming the terms were not used because if I went to a different dentist, which I will be doing a.s.a.p., they would say their conclusions were false and that could lead to a lawsuit possibly. Anyways somehow my free visit would have turned out to be hundreds of dollars if I agreed to their desires. To top it all off they refused to do the services my insurance would pay for and Im thinking they even charged for these services. As we should know insurance companies only pay for a certain amount a visits a year. Ill be using my second visit at a dentistry that isnt known for hustling. I must have signed up for the wrong dentistry because I never Teds post before.

Dont waste your time. The new dentist at La Jolla Family Dentistry, Dr. Jana Osmolinski, was a total waste of time, a total sales pitch. I understand that dentists need to make money and they only get half the Groupon price, but the idea in a Groupon should be to show the customer how good they are, and get you to come back for future needs, and refer others, not to insist you buy other services. When I told them I didnt want to purchase other services beyond those of the Groupon, they flat out refused to continue with the cleaning and whitening! Its no wonder that the office was practically empty, and that they need to recruit people with offers (fakes ones though they may be), for $40 of cleaning, xrays, and lifetime whitening services. La Jolla Family Dentistry is Bait and Switch to the max. This dental visit to La Jolla Family Dentistry was purely a sales office, and they did virtually nothing else. They advertised on Groupon $40 for xrays, cleaning, and lifetime of whitening. However, when I got there, I spent 40 minutes at the office, and they cleaned 2 teeth. The rest of the time they spent trying to convince me to get services which I did not want. When I told them I was not going to pay additional for any other services, the dentist told me it wasnt worth her time to continue, and left the room, and asked her assistant to continue trying to convince me to purchase other services. I told her I wasnt interested in listening to more pitches, and she told me they wouldnt even do the cleaning, so I left. In all, I wasted 90 minutes in drive time and sitting in a near empty La Jolla Family Dentistry office.

I found this practice through my dental insurance. I saw all the nice reviews, but what stood out is that all the good reviews seem authentic. I arrived and met the receptionist(Dawn) who greeted me and she even offered me refreshments. The contemporary decor and high tech office really stood out upon first notice(I only had to bite on a stick to take an x-ray, versus in my past having a square shaped object stuffed in my mouth.. Awful). I was quickly escorted back after finishing my paper work by the hygienist. The cleaning had to be the most thorough cleaning Ive received thus far. I met Dr. Jana soon after my cleaning and I immediately enjoyed her cheerful disposition. She assessed all my treatment I may need and let me know how we can take things step by step, even carefully answered all my questions with ease. Working in the healthcare field myself, I really appreciated the doctor taking her time. Overall, my experience at this dental practice was seamless and very pleasant ,which is usually not the words you use with going to the dentist. Brandon ,the office manager approached me before I finished with my appointment to make sure all went well. ( took me by surprise). Thanks La Jolla Family Dentistry!!!

Dr Jana told me she will remove my wisdom teeth because it makes it easier to work on my mouth and they are difficult to clean. No other dentist in 42 years told me this, and I replaced her with another dentist who completely disagreed with her diagnosis. I also got a coupon for free teeth whitening if I gave her a good review on Yelp. So she pays for good reviews. (Off topic, Yelp extorts businesses and hides reviews unless they pay yelp. They are modern day mafia). Also if you leave she will make you pay to transfer your x-rays to the new dentist. None of my other dentists have done this. My new dentist gave me free new x-rays because they did not want me to have to pay the dentist with a primary focus on money. Her desire for money over patient satisfaction will continue to haunt her business. I am now with a dentist who feels good about his patients care and his business decisions. He will keep growing his business and be very successful. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DENTIST.

I would travel across the US for dental work with La Jolla Family Dentistry. The service is superior to none, the diagnosis is spot on and the follow up is like something I never expected. I was working abroad and had a tooth issue. With a 12 hour time difference, Dr. Osmolinski provided a possible diagnosis and I followed up with a local dentist who concluded the same. I will never change my dentist and would highly recommend their services for all family members, from young children to seniors. Great, great care.

Best Dental experience i have ever had, my 7th dentist is 40 plus years. i went to a lot of poor quality dentists in my life time and Dr. Jana has transformed my smile into something i do love about myself. Thank you for chaning my life Jennifer

Jana Osmolinski is the worse dentist...i asked for simple repair on small chip on my front teeth and she did cut it and made it uneven, she ruines it ....never go with her service...very very bad dentist...
