The one star is for the hospital existing. This is one of the worst emergency rooms... ever!! I dont know how this hospital received high ratings. Must be because they are staff and/or friends writing these reviews, or patients who were admitted and treated with the proper care patients deserve. The nurses, from the triage to the charge nurse are disrespectful and non-responsive to patients concerns and pains. If you are not having a heart attack, then they consider your medical condition a 3 or 4 out of 5 being the least emergent situation. They also mistreat sickle cell patients, believing that they are only there to receive medicine for drug abuse use. They have no knowledge of the severity of the pain of sickle cell patients, nor the damage that the pain can cause to the organs. I called from out of state while my daughter was there to request to speak to the charge nurse and one nurse became frustrated and hung up on me. When I called back, I spoke to someone named Amaris who told me that the charge nurse was not available and how could she help me. When I began to speak, she cut me off to voice her opinion of why my daughter had not been yet and that according to them her level of emergency is only a 3. She also would not provide me the name of the nurse that hung up on me, nor would provide me the spelling of her name. My daughter sat in the emergency for 3 hours before leaving, in extreme pain, worse than when she arrived because she was not considered an emergency as the nurse Amaris and her administrative manager, Eric stated. They also told me that she may have to sit for 3 more hours, they were not sure because they have other patients needing their immediate attention. My daughter had to leave and go to another hospital. I will ensure to write the customer care department, or whatever complaint department they have to file a complaint of the mistreatment and improper care of my daughter.

WARNING: Hidden charges/bills, ridiculous pricing I would really like to know how they calculate the bills here because they dont seem to be based off cpt codes. Or if they are, they slap on a nice, fat extra BS charge. My daughter has severe eczema on her hands, which steroid creams dont help with. I brought her in because our family doctor didnt have any solution other than prescribing steroid creams. It seems that a UCLA dermatologist is the same. We explained to him steroid creams didnt work and we didnt want another steroid cream prescription. Guess what his solution was? Prescribe a steroid cream! The visit was well over an hour long, but the doctor only saw us for less than 5 minutes. We paid almost $350, which is ridiculous even for a hospital considering that the cpt code for a 5 minute visit, even for a first time patient, would $60 at most. We were cash patients though, so there was little we could do as they milked us for all we were worth. However, it wasnt the unconcerned/useless doctor or the ridiculous bill that really compelled me to write this review. I want to warn all of you that there is another bill that they dont tell you about. They charged me with another $125 through the mail over a month after the visit. There wasnt any reason listed for the bill, so I thought it was a mistake. After calling them, they explained that it was a facility charge, which is billed separately from the doctors bill. It costs $125 to sit in a room for less than 5 minutes.

Dr. feldman gets zero stars her and ER Fabian. Fabian in the ER told me he wishes everyone that is on Cal optima Medicare & Medi-Cal would quit being so lazy and get a job and to stop coming to his Emergency Room yelled, I am the one who pays for all the losers that have CalOptima And Medi-Cal! I needed hip surgery had a fracture in my lower spine and 6 other serious traumatic injuries and this Fabian ER employee is yelling at me for not being able to use crutches pokes my injuries scrapes & bruises as I laid there in bed being completely out of line I had not said anything mean Or done ANYTHING to deserve this. I was there for help I was in the most Pain. Although I wish I hadnt been. I thought Fabian was the worst but Surprise it got WORSE whenever Dr. Feldman came in she made Fabian look like an angel Dr. Feldman insulted me, hurt my injuries, threatened me several times and did something so extremely out of line I am still shocked and worked up about it. I dont know what these two peoples personal problems are but these two employees will end up messing up this hospital and cost them. Worst nightmare Worst experience ever.

Friday night around midnight, I didnt wait too long. Ive been in ERs in different cities before and this has been one of the best experiences Ive ever seen. Of course, I dont go in with high expectations to be treated royally, that is just absurd. I was treated with respect, everyone was patient and kind, and the wait was not long especially once they saw how much I was bleeding. I was never made to feel bad or insecure. I didnt get pain medication for a while because my blood pressure was too low but nurse Vanina kept working on my fluids and I eventually became strong enough for some pain meds. I saw so many doctors and nurses and they were all very professional. The scariest part was going into the operating room and the anesthesiologist was really outstanding, he knew I was really nervous and helped me to use the bathroom instead of having a catheter (because I freaked out about that). Our insurance had started the day before so we didnt have any card on us but the financial advisors were very kind, patient and understanding.

Its surprising how negligent the er at this place was! Me and a fellow active duty sailor were in the area when she started having severe stomach pains. I took her to this hospital and for the next 11 hours she told me she was fine and they are helping...turns out the stuck her in a hallway ran one test and never gave her any meds she went through 5 doctors and a dozen nurses before her one sonogram came back. I then picked her up and drove her 3 hours to Balboa naval hospital where they did more in 20 mins then UCLA did in 11 hours and thats not an exaggeration. Thank god it wasent life threatening but what if it was! they only took her vitals 2 times in 11 hours! I have many family members in medicine mostly nurses and they all say she should have at least had her vitals checked hourly. I never try to play the active duty military card and neither dose she but someone who has fought for our country being stuck in a hallway with no food or water for 11 hours is a show of huge disrespect.

Definitely the BEST doctors and staff! I visited the ER, it was clean, modern and...WARM...nothing like other emergency rooms. The staff was great from the security team to the administrative team to the nursing team to the physicians! The doctors had a "shift change" during the first 20-30 minutes of my visit, we were kept informed and involved throughout our visit. The first doctor advised us that his shift was ending and another provider would also attend to us AND still took the time to provide an exam, order xrays and have a very informative, interactive and interested discussion with us. His demeanor was professional, well-educated, highly interested, sincerely compassionate/caring. Easily one of the most, if not THE most pleasant and effective medical visits Ive ever had. The next physician was equally impressive. Thank You to each UCLA Ronald Reagan ER team member who CARED (by every definition) for us while we were there. We felt like family. Thank you.
