I have been on 3 trips to this ER. One was for an attempted suicide, one for a bleeding problem, one for bleeding after surgery. The ER nurses for the attempted suicide were apparently determined to prove to the 12-year-old involved that suicide is a BAD thing and people will treat you badly if you attempt it. NOT terribly helpful or professional. Once we left the ER and went to pediatrics, the staff were helpful and personable. Second trip was a no-fault result of a prior medical procedure. The staff members were universally helpful and friendly. Guess that was because if any blame was to be assigned, it would be to the doctor that did the procedure. The third trip was also the result of a medical procedure -- but this procedure was controversial and definitely frowned upon by the Roman Catholic church. The ER nurses were all friendly and helpful, although they seemed understaffed which led to long waits. The ER doctor was presumably competent (Im not a medical guru) BUT after sitting around for six hours, his answer to "why do I need to take this medicine/what side effects might be expected" included a diatribe on his personal opinions as to whether the patient should or should not have had the original procedure. He commented on who accompanied her to the ER (and who did not). The paperwork they give you starts out with a statement that you as a patient will/should be respected regardless of your race, gender choices, etc. Apparently they dont require the doctors to read the packet. We went to the ER for medical help, and we got it, but we left more injured than when we arrived. I dont want to start a rant, but here is a quote that someone should post on the ER walls: Primum non nocere, or in English "First of all, do no harm" That would include emotional battering and taking advantage of ones position to castigate someone whose life you know nothing about. I am quite certain that healing someone physically and simultaneously attacking them verbally does not qualify as "good medicine". There is obviously a lack of leadership and a culture of fingerpointing here. If youre willing to tolerate that, or if your injury/sickness is not controversial and you clearly were not to blame, then go to Providence Holy Cross. If youre just a normal human that (gasp!) made a mistake or had an accident that you might have avoided, Id look elsewhere. --

Best Hospital Experience Ever! Where do I begin? I was scheduled to be induced and showed up 30 minutes early. We showed up, unfortunately, labor and delivery was full. We were scheduled at 6 pm and was admitted until 10 pm. It was extremely frustrating, but the front desk staff was awesome. Wish I knew their names. When we were admitted, our first nurse was DD. She was the best, she got everything started right away and kept my husband and I well informed and made us feel comfortable. By 7 am the next day, nurses switched, we were set with Jaime. Again, this nurse was awesome as well. I mean, she kept me comfortable and you can tell she cared for her patients. She was very attentive and really helpful. Then next shift started at 7 pm and we had Karen. She sure knew what she was doing. Although, she wasnt very social, she was very sweet, caring and kept us comfortable the whole time. She ended up finishing her shift early (family emergency, hope everything was OK) and we had DD again. By the time DD was back we were pushing already. Let me tell you, she is the best cheerleader ever, great support, she was awesome! Once in postpartum, we had Jeanine, Noemi, GinJu (sorry for the spelling) n Alma. They were so patient and caring. We actually requested them to be our nurses during our stay. Our baby had jaundice and didnt want to eat. Although, not all of them were our nurses at the same time, they all took the time to try to get our baby to eat. I mean, they had so much patience with him, they were awesome. Baby ended up in the NICU, another great experience. Barbara and Alma were his nurses. Wow, so thankful for them. They took care of our baby, they were so helpful. Our one week stay from Labor and delivery, postpartum and NICU was the best. We had our doubts, as we had bad experience in the ER. Once we were there we saw how caring all the staff was. I did not interact much with the nurses assistant, dont know their names, but they were great as well. Our next baby, will be delivered here. Million thanks from the bottom of our hearts, to you wonderful ladies. I couldnt of done without any of you!

I was over visiting with my family, the last day of our vacation I got very sick. My husband took me to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center. I was really surprise on the fact the there emergency room had no accessible restrooms. When I asked the security if they where other restrooms I could use he direct me to the door "outside". I had really high fever and could hardly stand from all the vomiting and it was raining I could not believe it was real. Once I was call to be register the nurse who registers me was extremely rude and not only that but she wrote down false information on my paperwork she guess my temperature by looking at me she didnt event take my temperature. Once I was call in to be place in a bed the nurse who took my urine sample fail to wear gloves. I still had some hope the once the doctor came in everything was going to be better. The doctor came in and asked me my symptoms he was surprise to hear that i had fever symptoms he said " your fever is 98 you dont have a fever" my husband then asked how do you know doctor said the nurse who checked you in wrote it down" once i shared with him that the nurse had not taken my temperature he smile and said "so your telling me that my nurse is making up information" and left. He send one of the head nurses to check my temperature and before he could even put the stick in my mouth my husband asked him to place a protector before he place the thermometer in my mouth "he was going to place a thermometer in my mouth the has be use by many different people with out a plastic protector". My fever was 102. Once the doctor realizes that I was really sick he ordered me the proper medication and test. I have previously worked in the medical industry and I know the been clean is been safe you have an obligation to protect your patient and your self and the spread of illness to others. I have never been so disappointment in the medical care.

This place is ridiculous. Well the doctors here are. The nurses are great. Thats why they get 2 stars. First time i came here the surgeon told me i NEEDED 1 kidney stent then come to find out he put in 2 and i woke up in 1000% more pain than i went in with then told only Tylenol for pain when i was barely surviving on diloted. Come to find out i didnt need the stents and he also placed them wrong thays y i was in so much pain. Then i came here again and when the doctor came to see me the 3 times he did he was on his phone the entire time not once did he look at me. He wasnt paying attention at all. He prescribed a chrons patient stool softener even though he had asked how are my bowel movements and i said they are fine its diarrhea. Since when does a person need stool softener when they have diarrhea??? Thankfully the nurse caught it and asked me if i wanted to take it. And now this third time just wow. I came in on a sunday night was admitted around midnight. Didnt see a doctor all day Monday that i was here. Then on Tuesday finally one came in and Dr. Azimi was basically trying to tell me that i was wrong and he had to have seen me. Which he didnt. I didnt get to bed that night till 4 am and was up at 7am. Then she tells me what is going to be done. She said ok after this clear liquid meal next ull have a soft meal (dinner) then on Wednesday we will try u on a solid food diet. If all goes well then ull go home on the Wednesday afternoon and that iv bag ur on will be ur last one since ur on a clear liquid diet. I said ok. Well she never put anything in her orders. Still on the iv bags and am still on the clear liquid diet. How am i supposed to know if in better if im still on the clear liquid diet ( broth which is basically a bowl of salt, apple juice basically a cup of sugar, jello basically sugar, and ice cream hey hey more sugar) this hospital is ridiculous!
