Dr. Speer is the ONLY vet I have seen, in over 40 years of all species rescue work, that takes the time to truly communicate with his patients - not just the clients! Dr. Speer blends a profound sensitivity with unparalleled knowledge to give the best care possible. His skills increase the success rate and survivability for your sick/injured bird exponentially. Dr. Speers medical knowledge is limitless because he aggressively seeks to learn more every day to fulfill his passion of improving avian medicine and husbandry for the world. He lectures, studies, researches and puts in incredible hours at his clinic all for his love of birds. I have had the honor of having Dr. Speer care for my numerous rescue birds. Sadly his experience means he often is faced with terminally ill patients. Even under these sad conditions his focus is on comfort and respect for the bird as well as you the client. He has saved some of mine and he has giving me the warmest, kindest hug with deep felt compassion when he was unable to work a miracle. If you have a bird or are considering adding one to your family, give yourself and your bird the best - go to Dr. Speer. I drive over an hour one way to see him, others drive for days, some fly but all who have known him know there is no one better.
