For the past 6 months, the vet that I worked at was treating my dog for a health issue which turned out to be a lot more serious then I had expected. My Vet, who knows how much I love my dog, knew that he needed a specialist. So, I was referred to Loomis Basin. I scheduled an appointment letting them know my situation and dog’s health issue. While scheduling my appointment, I was given no information about what the surgery consult would consist of nor how much it would cost. When I showed up to my appointment, I was greeted by a kind receptionist whom helped me get checked in for my appointment. While I was filling out the required paperwork, I had my dog on a leash and lying by my side. A Tech and a dog walked right by and of course he stood up to sniff the other dog. The Tech quickly snapped rudely at me telling me to keep my dog closer to my side. I did not wait long until I was in the room with the surgery specialist. He was very kind and was willing to answer any of my questions. Because of my experience at my vet I told him I had no questions and that I just needed him to look at my dog and give me an estimate. He began to try and examine my dog which hid under the bench in the exam room. Instead of calling for help from a Tech, he looked to me for help. I then had to pull my own dog out from under the bench, and held him down while the Vet examined him. My dog is a 95lb German Shepherd, and I am a 110lb female. After the exam, I was instructed to go in the waiting room until someone came out with my estimate. I was given an estimate of a price range from $2,300-$2,800. I’ve never seen an estimate this high for a surgery like this. I went to check out with the receptionist, and I was told that I owed $110.00 for the office visit. At this point, I was frustrated. First, as a new patient, I should have been told when I scheduled an appointment the cost of my appointment. Second, to pay $110.00 to hold my own dog down was unprofessional. Third, the estimate was outrageous. Fourth, the experience with the Tech was unacceptable. Fifth, a Vet that had me hold my own dog down is unprofessional and a liability issue. I will never go back nor will I recommend this Clinic to anyone. My experience at Loomis Basin was beyond disappointing. The only positive point was the receptionist was very kind and made me feel welcome. After this disappointing experience, I received another referral to a vet in the Rocklin area. The consult was above and beyond my expectations. The care that was shown was far superior and my dog was given multiple necessary services for the same price as Loomis basin. The given estimate was $400 and the quality of care was more then I could ask for. My advice to others is to shop around.

Attn.: Management, Our family has been with Loomis Basin for 6 years. Service has been getting worse and worse. Well, we are officially moving on. Recently, we had an appointment for Bordetella and to get our two dogs nails trimmed and my husband waited for over an hour past our appointment time. (This is not unusual, whenever I take them in you are always 30min to 2 hours late to call us back, then we wait for 15-30 min in a room). I stopped in later that day after work to pick up the Heartguard that my hubby forgot and waited at the front desk forever while people wrote in charts behind the desk, I was told it would be a few minutes (the place was dead), I am in the health care field and we always put patients before charts - but you dont? So I meandered to the checkout and was told the same thing. Days later I tried to get you guys to fax a prescription to 1800petmeds and I was told that your policy is to declined to deal with them in any capacity. My option is to come in and pick up the medication. (Uhhh, and wait again while your staff finishes all their charting before assisting me again?) The crappy part is that my dogs just had their annual exams and to get their Frontline or Heartguard medication from another Vet. would require exams. I am very frustrated. All I am looking for is friendly service and a place that makes me feel like they appreciate my business. Loomis Basin Vet. Clinic is just too busy and seems to not need our business.

Best Vet Experience I have ever had!! I even worked for a vet some years ago, and I can tell you, this group is hands down, THE BEST!!! I had an emergency on a Friday night with my mustang and needed them right away. I was able to text a picture of the injury, so when they got there they were completely prepared. Not a minute was wasted on assessing the situation and getting him cleaned, sutured and meds administered. He went to stay with them for a week and his care exceeded all of my expectations. I was made aware of everything every step of the way. Thank you Loomis Basin...Love you guys!!!!

I will not bring my horse to any other vet facility! Each of the equine vets brings an area of expertise to the practice and my horses have had nothing but excellent care over the years from all of the vets at one time or another. Loomis offers practical, kind, consistent attention & state-of-the-art technology if I need it. I feel lucky to live close enough to trailer my horses in but know I will also receive timely emergency care if I cant trailer. Loomis has NEVER let me down!
