I just aquired a kitten a week ago. She is 11 weeks old. Before the kitten was given to me I was told she had a small patch of hair missing by her ear. I chalked it up to food allergy as they were feeding her cheap low quality food. Once Amica was in my possession I started feeding her high quality, grain free food, but her skin only got worse. She seemed otherwise healthy but was losing hair like crazy! I called several recommended places and nobody did same day appointments unless it was an emergency. I called VCA and they got us in same day with no problems! The staff was very friendly and helpful! My Amica saw Mr. Rowan. He was very nice and also very considerate of my financial situation. He and the staff took their time, explained everything very well, and worked out a plan for my kitty that fit within my budget. VCA does seem to be a little higher priced than the other places I called however they do also seem to understand not everybody is rich. ...and they were able to see us last minute when nobody else could! I have no experience with any of the other veterinarians besides Mr. Rowan but he was wonderful and I truely appriciated them being sensitive to my financial situation! I will be bringing my Amica here in the future!

I took my recently adopted rescue cat here with a voucher to cover a general check up. They advised me she needed a long list of treatments and vaccines that pertain to an outdoor cat(she is indoor only and my only pet). I initially suspected she had an ear infection. They confirmed this and explained that she needed $445 worth of care. They made me feel like a heartless troll because I asked that she simply be treated for her infection. They claimed to have cleaned her ears, which were still dirty when I got her home, and sent me home with medication to administer myself. The visit was $260. I noticed the medication only mentioned dosage for DOGS! My biggest complaint is that they refused to actually show me how to administer the medication and that her ear infection never got better only worse. She now has sores on the corners of her mouth. I cnt believe I paid $260 for dog medication and I have a sicker cat. If anyone has a suggestion on where I can take her please please share.

After three visits over 9 months, each time being prescribed a high and expensive course of antibiotics, I finally bit the bullet and went to UC Davis for the ongoing ear infections and environmental allergies my elderly dog was experiencing. I spent $340 at UC Davis that day, about half as much as I had spent at Greenhaven VCA over the last nine months, and my dog was like a new animal the next day. Turns out that all those months they were testing a bacterial ear infection, it was yeast all along. They never swabbed or put it on a slide, they just threw prescriptions at it, and the wrong ones at that. It cost a lot of money to be misdiagnosed for all that time, a lot of time, a lot of frustration for me, and sadly a lot of discomfort for my dog. One doctor even prescribed antibiotics without ever bending over and touching my dog or looking in his ear. This facility, for a variety of other reasons as well, is one that I would not/actively do not recommend.

This VCA Pet Hospital is just TERRIFIC! I just adopted a 5 month old yorkie a week ago. I looked up some vet places online and called around for prices. When I do research, I also pay attention to how people answer their phones and help you. Right away when I called VCA, I felt welcomed and they really wanted to help me. They stay open late Monday-Wednesdays, which makes it much easier for me since I work all day. When I brought my Little Bear in, I was greeted with a warm welcome. The technician and Doctor was absolutely great! They were in no rush at all, they took their time to talk to us about vaccines and how to keep our little one healthy. The doctor even called the next day to see how our Little Bear was doing after his vaccines the day before. It was a comfortable and sweet experience! I definitely would recommend friends and family to this place! You wont regret it!

Everyone was nice to me and my shy dog. But,I am NEVER EVER going back again. Why?Unreasonable prices! If I go to Family Friends Vet Hospital, its $18 to about $25 dollars a shot and they do not require an exam. But here?$20 to $35 a shot AND they require an exam!.Another thing,at Family Friends,3 shots was enough for my dog for todays visit and it was only $61.Last week,I went to check out of VCA was.$269 for 5 shots:for 2 shots I needed and 3 I didnt need at all PLUS a required exam!I think this place just wants your money, telling you all these lies about how you dog require these shots.Even though it is extremely close to my home,I am switching to Family Friends Vet Hospital in Citrus Heights. Its far,but its worth it!!Like I said,NEVER EVER coming back unless they lower their prices!

I discovered my newly rescued adult cat was tapeworm infested over memorial day weekend. Early Tuesday morning, after being turned away rudely by not one but two vets, I walked in to newly remodeled and hectically busy VCA Greenhaven Vet. I didnt care if I had to wait all day, I just wanted Moses to be treated. Not only did they treat him immediately (and compassionately) but they were beyond kind and gifted my 5 year old daughter with a color changing water bottle which literally made her day. Thank you to the staff here, you literally made this familys day and my kitty is looking 100% better. ♡

The vets themselves are decent, the real problem are the vet assistants/techs. They man handle your dog, or are just plain poorly trained. My dog has left there limping 3 different times after being handed off to the techs. My brother brought his dog in once and he noticed the same thing. The problem is that your dogs adrenaline is going the day of the appointment, but a day or 2 later without fail my dog is limping for a long time. I will never bring my dog there again, because they simply do not care for them properly when the techs have them.

the prices are ridiculous, but thats not what prompted me to write this review. despite the fact that my cat was seen there a few months ago, and that i spent hundreds of dollars there fighting a high fever brought on by a sudden infection (by the way, the care they recommended would have cost thousands), they just denied this petrx prescription for standard, preventative care FLEA MEDICINE because they want him to come in for a standard check up (which, by the way, will cost you over a hundred dollars). my advice: avoid at all cost.

$800 dollars alone for direct deposit fees. Not including price of possible medical plan or cost of medicine after treatment for my pet. $150 minimum to put my pet down. Prices seem like they want you to know that its easier to put your pet down than to save it from death. They would not provide service to my dog until all fees were paid upfront. Receipts for the operation were disrespectfully put next to my pets death bed. Felt like my pets condition was treated as a financial gain than a incentive to actually treat and help my dog.
