Very let down. I was way too nice in my previous review. It has taken me a year to digest what happened and decide what I want to say. Such a nightmare trying to take care of your beloved pets when a third party is involved trying to make money off you all while being super conservative to protect themselves from any sort of liability. Very paranoid selfish delivery of care. I feel like a fool. I talked this place up thinking they were better than the average vets office. Spent over a year taking my dog Yugg here for his care. He had Wobblers disease, cancer, and arthritis on top of just being an elderly dog. I spent that year trying to work with them to prepare for his impending death. I tried to express my wants and concerns to the vet, which were that I wanted him to die at home and I wanted him to be comfortable. I thought we were on the same page but when the time came, they failed to help take care of my precious precious Yugg and he died a miserable painful death in my living room. It is BS that they wont provide hospice care for your animals when you have been a long term customer and patient. It is BS they wont give you drugs to put your animal to sleep at home without them involved. It isnt rocket science. Nobody wants to or needs to have a third party involved in such an intimate moment of you and your pets life. They dont have an emergency contact number. THeir emergency advice for you is to take your pet to a ridiculously expensive 24 hr hospital to see a vet that doesnt know you or your pet. Shouldnt your animals regular Dr be reachable? If Drs want to have this much control they need to be reachable at all times or the rules need to be changed so the average person has greater access to medication. A liability waiver would could solve this problem. I actually took Yugg in the day before his death because I knew he was close to dying and asked them to give him some strong effective pain pills just in case. Well they didnt want too and Yuggy paid a miserable price. Me, being just an average person predicted what was going to happen and they didnt. That says a lot. Basically if your dog is real sick or has something moderately complex to deal with they wont help. If you just need shots and conservative "lets wait and see" care then they can do that. To be honest a 12 year old with internet access could provide as effective and up to date care as your animals will get here. But that goes for all the current veterinary offices I have seen. Medicine for people and for animals is a inflated manipulative scam. A word of advice is find a vet you can see eye to eye with and dont stop looking until you find them. The consequences of not doing so can cost your beloved family member so much. None of us know when our pets are going to die but get prepared ahead of time and have a fool proof plan. If you dont, you may end up living with a lot of horrible regret like I am. Know I also accept responsibility for my part in letting my dog down but that doesnt excuse their part of this. I should have seen the signs that they werent going to give the needed help. I absolutely hate having to be like this, but things need to change. And what I am supposed to do? Say nothing? Would you speak up if this happened? Giving us morphine to have on hand(you can give rectally, sublingually, or inject in a catheter) or the drugs to put my animal to sleep could have save my animal the most horrible pain I have ever seen a living being experience. The benefit would have far outweighed the possible harm. I am done talking about this. To Yugg I am so so forever sorry. I hope whoever reads this just considers what I am saying, and it helps them better get better care for their animals.

We were new to the area and needed to find a vet--this vet had very high reviews and was recommended by the groomer we use. I want to state that this post is not meant to point blame--just to let other pet owners be aware of what happened to us: My dog was old and had some medical problems which made the dental surgery she needed very risky. My dog was a pure bread so medical complications are pretty typical. We reminded two of the technicians on the day of her surgery that they cannot begin the dental surgery without confirming that our dog was able to handle the sedative. Somehow whomever was administrating the sedative did not check our dogs chart and began HEAVILY sedating her. The vet stopped the injection--but not soon enough--our dog had already received more sedative than her liver could handle. The details of this injection process are unclear because we were not there (even though I requested being present); we must believe what we were told. But this resulted in brain damage and days of suffering where my dog could not move or even lift her head. Much to our lament, once our dog was able to move again (3 days later), we realized that the damage was permanent. Weeks later we decided to put her down so she would not suffer anymore. She was an older dog and we can not solely blame this vet for her death, but the blatant negligence of the vet and her staff lead to our dogs early demise. Who knows how many years she would have had, but this story needed to be shared. Not only was our dog over-medicated and suffering for days, but we were still asked to pay for this visit. This whole experience was a tragedy--its been months since this occurred, but my family and myself have been too saddened to even think about posting this review. We will never use this vet again.

We have trusted our furry children to the Francis Vet Hospital for over twenty years. We couldnt ask for better care and treatment for our animals and us! In the past we have had some difficult health, life threatening challenges with two of our lovely dogs. They know the right people to send you too in that case. They research the best emergency care/ specialty vets in the area before suggesting them, One of our dogs was facing a $1,800 surgery for an elbow problem, after a cortisone shot first, then x-rays a few weeks later. Well the x-rays werent conclusive to point to surgery immediately, Canine Rehab. was suggested. It worked! So the point is, they dont do unnecessary treatments, surgeries without thinking it through and considering other options. They are supportive and knowledgeable in any situation. They show care and concern, the staff are friendly. Their prices are reasonable. In my opinion, they are the best!

I was taking my dog and cat to another vet hospital in Golden until I just could not handle the rude receptionist any longer. After they passed away, I took my other Chihuahuas to Francis Vet Hospital for their regular check ups, vaccinations and other urgent care needs. I was never told they didnt have time for us and when the end of life came for Trigger and Snickers, Dr. Francis and Dr. Fasthe were caring and compassionate to the dogs and to us. Now my new puppies have all of their medical needs attended to at Francis. What I most appreciate, beyond the excellent care my mini-mes receive, is that we arent just another face to the staff. Everyone remembers us from appointment to appointment and, when we are with either of the doctors, we are their focus and they take the time needed to explore and understand what the issues are. I never feel that they are trying to rush us out to get on to the next patient.
