UPDATED REVIEW: I have 4 large dogs, and Im neurotic about their health and wellness. I started taking them to NEVC only when my usual vet couldnt fit us in, but now, I take my pups to NEVC for everything. Heres why: 1. Convenience. On a weekday, Im usually seen by a vet in under 20 minutes despite not having an appointment. This is highly convenient since my schedule is inconsistent. In my experience, the wait is longer on the weekends (like 1-1.5 hours, depending on many different variables), but thats still not bad considering the service theyre providing. 2. Price. I would expect a clinic that accepts walk-ins to be much more expensive, but theyre not. Actually, the examination fee is the same as my previous vet who only took appointments. 3. The vets. Ive taken my pups to Dr. Giles, Dr. Goodman, and Dr. Terrazas. Theyve all been extremely friendly, understanding, empathetic, and took the time to answer my many questions. Dr. Giles is especially amazing. I was really upset over a recent accident my dog had, and he made me feel much better while still being straightforward and honest. He explained everything to me very clearly, and I really trusted his decisions and appraisal of my dogs condition. He encouraged me to call and ask questions if I needed, which I did, and he was extremely kind and patient on the phone. 4. The staff. Monica at the front desk is always kind, patient, knowledgable, and helpful. The vet techs and assistants have always been nothing but professional, knowledgable, and empathetic. They wont hesitate to comfort you if your pup is going through a rough time. Plus, theyre always really gentle with my dogs and understanding of any temperament issues they have. 5. Transparency. They lay out the cost before they treat your pet, so there are no surprises at checkout. Plus, the vets really try to avoid unnecessary testing, saving your pet stress and you money. 6. Emergency care. I took my German Shepherd in for an emergency visit on a busy Sunday. On the phone, the receptionist told me that the wait was about an hour, but theyd see us sooner if it was an emergency. The second I arrived and told them what happened, they had a vet assistant check my dog over for signs of shock and anything else that needed immediate attention. Even though he was in stable condition, they still had us in a back room in less than 5 minutes. They were kind, compassionate, and gentle even in an emergency situation. NEVC, thank you so much for taking care of my dogs, especially after Jaxs accident. I dont know what I would have done without you guys. P.S. In my first review that I made several months ago, I made an offhand comment about the interesting patio furniture in the exam rooms. Theyve now replaced them with really nice leather seats :)

Do not take your animals to this vet clinic! I have never seen such a blatant disregard for an animals welfare as I did today (1/9/17). My friend brought her dog (a small Jack Russel terrier) in who had been viciously attacked by another dog. He had multiple open wounds, a severe hematoma on his face that was the size of a small orange, and could barely walk. The front office staff was more concerned with getting her telephone number and address then with her dog bleeding out on the floor in the waiting room, which was filled with other animals and their owners. When they took him back they immediately requested a large down payment before the vet would even take a look at him. When she informed the office staff she couldnt pay the down payment they told her they would not help her or her dog. The vet on staff that day, Michelle Vrahnos, was on a phone call and could not even come out to talk to the owner or exam/even look at the dog. The vet tech proceeded to tell my friend that unfortunately her dogs wounds were so severe that she should put him down. My friend explained to the tech that she could not afford the fees at that time but was willing to do anything or make any payment arrangements she could to help her pet. The tech reminded her that this is a private practice and a business and that they cant afford to help all animals. She also explained that she could bring him home and just wait for him to die from shock or his wounds. Fortunately a good samaritan offered to help pay for her dogs euthanasia, however the ordeal that my friend experienced and the pain and suffering her poor dog went through before receiving any relief from his extensive wounds is abhorrent. The vet was only seen at the very end when she injected the dog with an overdose of sedative, which in all honesty probably costs less that 15 bucks, and offered a very insincere "sorry for your loss". I am in shock by the lack of compassion this vet practice showed this poor dog. All veterinarians take an oath and clearly the vets that work at the Northeast Veterinary Clinic need to be reminded at what they solemnly swore: Being admitted to the profession of veterinary medicine, I solemnly swear to use my scientific knowledge and skills for the benefit of society through the protection of animal health and welfare, THE PREVENTION AND RELIEF OF ANIMAL SUFFERING, the conservation of animal resources, the promotion of public health, and the advancement of medical knowledge. I will practice my profession conscientiously, with dignity, and in keeping with the principles of veterinary medical ethics. I accept as a lifelong obligation the continual improvement of my professional knowledge and competence.

After so many years of going to the Northeast vet Clinic I have to say it has become so commercialized and impersonal. My cat was being "treated" there and his paw suddenly became hard. I had been calling all day for a vet to return my call because as I told Elizeneth, their receptionist, his paw had suddenly become hard. After waiting the entire day, I paid an ONLINE Vet to tell me what to do and he said to see the vet NOW, dont wait. So, I call my cats "vet" and Elizabeth pretty well told me that its too late to be seen and I can wait until Tuesday (Monday was a holiday). I explained that the online vet said it was urgent, but she held her "I want to go home" ground. So i asked for a supervisor and spoke with Michelle. Ao, after dealing with ms "Its 7:30 and we cant take anyone else" we were finally able to rush him in.. I mean come on, this was Bootsies vet! Well, that was a waste of time, After my husband, whom has a heart condition, had to tell the girl that I called (I had to stay home with our child on life support) they finally saw him. Guess what great personal care they gave? They referred us to the 24 hour vet across town and gave my husband Bootsies records. This was over $1000 into his "care"... what a waste! A WASTE!!!!!! What horrible lack of compassion! I should have learned about their lack of care and deep concern for money when they told me my dogs surgery would cost $3,000 and I was forced to take her to the MCCombs Veterinary Clinic where it only costs me $300! But Im not alone, my moms chihhuahua needed surgery on her knees, and again, NEVCs price was monstrous versus the other vets. My friend Lauries cat has diabetes and needed care.. again, she LEFT NEVC due to their lack of care and overpricing. I used to pay their overinflated prices because I wanted my animlas to go where they would be cared for, but this last event with my precious cat opened my eyes. Now I see what my friend Laurie, my mom and others had been trying to tell me... NE Vet does care, oh yes and very much, but its for your money and NOT your animal. I hope another vet opens with long hours and Sunday service. HOWEVER, I also ask that they really care about the animals and not how deeply they can go into my ppockets. DISGUSTED, DISGUSTED! DISGUSTED!!!!!!! I hope they get their eyes opened to remember why they chose to "care for animals"... unless money was always their only goal.
