This office has been there for me on 2 emergencies situations and because of that my beloved pets will be patients for life. First incident..... I left grapes sitting on my side table by my sofa and got up to answer the door and while I was visiting, my dachshund ate half the bowl of grapes. Of course I panicked, and took her to the closest emergency vet. They immediately took her in the back (employees only) and gave her charcoal to help her throw up and then gave me an estimate to keep her overnight and explained the importance of keeping her......this of course was after they scared me and told me that she probably wouldnt make it because she was so little and because of the amount of grapes that was eaten. The overnight estimate was $1300. I immediately called Animal Health Care, spoke with the receptionist, she spoke with the Vet and they said bring her over immediately. Did I mention this was 8pm at night. Long story........She stayed at Animal Health Care for 2 full days with iv drips and whatever else and my bill was $400 and her care was phenomenal. 2nd incident - same dachshund was having difficulty breathing, her nose was squeaking, she was sneezing, not panicking but just not breathing right. Her nose was whistling. Anyway, I took her to Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital, they checked her out, took her in the back (employees only) and brought her back after 15 min and said she needs to have a CT scan and possible surgery, we think she may have a tumor blocking her airway. Gave me an estimate of $2300. WHAT!!! So......I called Animal Health Care, spoke with the receptionist, of course Im panicking.....they said bring her right in. I got there, we met with the Dr, they told me they wanted to keep her to do an x-ray and observe her. (Wheat Ridge animal hospital never even suggested an x-ray, just surgery) Anyway.....I got a call approximately 4 hours later, stating they did an x-ray, saw nothing but could hear and see the distress. The Vet started washing out her nostrils, she did this nostril wash 3-4 times and out popped a piece of grass. What?? A piece of grass? You mean its not a tumor blocking her airway?? Anyway....you get the point......I will never leave Animal Health Care.......The staff and the Drs are amazing. Oh and by the way.....when these others vets take our beloved animals "in the back" (Employees only) what goes on back there they they dont want us to see? At Animal Health Care, everything is done right there. I went back a couple times to see my Dachshund while she was staying there and I was in the "back room". There was no door blocking me from seeing what they were doing. To me that was important. I will recommend anyone and everyone to Animal Health Care because of attention to detail, the care and the respect me and my animals have received.

I brought my dogs here for their rabies vaccinations because a friend of mine highly recommended them. I never saw a vet, only an assistant, and she gave my dogs their shots incorrectly so for the next week or so they were whimpering and limping around the house and their legs were very swollen. They couldn’t go for walks so my fiancé and I carried them outside to do their business every day and tried to keep them as comfortable as possible. I called and asked if that was a normal reaction because they’d never had problems with shots before. I was told that the assistant who gave my dogs their shots had done it incorrectly, not only with my dogs, but with every dog shed performed it on previously. I was assured the issue was being addressed so even though I was a little apprehensive I returned when one of my dogs became ill. He was vomiting profusely and there were traces of blood in his feces so I was very concerned since my first dog died of Parvo. The women at the front were very polite and courteous, but the vet was horrible. He never made eye contact or seemed the least bit interested and when I tried explaining Max’s symptoms he either interrupted me or didn’t listen. He didn’t perform a test or anything in depth to figure out why my dog was sick. He felt Max’s stomach and advised me that he has "doggie IBS" and I just needed to switch his food. I asked if he was positive that was the problem because Max seemed too sick for that to be the cause. He basically ignored me and began talking to his assistant, not to me, about the type of food my dog needed and where to get it. I had to ask him to repeat to me everything he’d told his assistant after he sent her out of the room because he wasn’t paying attention and about to leave himself. He was just plain rude and acted as if being there was a huge inconvenience. I didn’t see the vet or his assistant again after they left the room. After being treated so abrasively and basically rushed out the door Ive since taken my dogs elsewhere and received much more comprehensive care. Max was diagnosed with a serious abdominal infection that left his intestines so inflamed and irritated that he could barely digest his food, which was causing the vomiting and blood in his feces. This is by far the worst vet clinic Ive ever been to. I may have caught them on bad days but after two horrible experiences I don’t trust them with any of my pets.

We ended up here when our regular vet suddenly closed without warning leaving us stranded. My kitty broke a tooth off a month ago when he started (and won) a fight with the dog. He suddenly was having a bunch of pain and was holding his mouth open drooling. We took him to the clinic the vet who closed on us recommended. They werent very helpful and wanted at least $1500 for a dental on my cat and they said they may be able to fit him in a week or two even though he was symptomatic and miserable! I found Animal Healthcare Specialists online while to trying to find a place that would provide care at a reasonable cost. My husband had just ended up Im the hospital unexpectedly leaving us with a large co-pay on top of our already tight budget because my income is the only income we have right now so we definitely didnt have $1500 to drop on a cat dental. Animal Healthcare Specialists fit us in for the exam to get the dental scheduled the next day. When they saw how bad his teeth were and the level of discomfort he was in they didnt schedule a dental, they did it right then even though it was 3:20pm! Because it was so late they said they would like to keep him overnight and would do so at no cost. They monitored him closely and kept him comfortable. He was still holding his jaw open so they kept him another night syringe feeding him every hour, again at no cost. The dental cost was 1/5th of what the other clinic wanted and they actually cared about my cat and making him feel better! Everyone was so kind and helpful, Dr. Kubacki is awesome! Everything seemed too good to be true, I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. However it wasnt too good to be true, they took amazing care of my boy and there were no hidden costs what so ever. Any other clinic would have charged extra per tooth they had to extract, for the overnight care, for the follow up x-rays, for the medications to go home on, etc they did not. I know where our furry kiddos will be going from now on!
