I’ve been to this place 3 times. The first was for an initial cleaning/checkup. I was amazed at how organized everything was. Well, that was apparently for show. Visit 2 was an emergency filling that had fallen out, and Dr. Hutchison did it. It went fine, although initially some random assistant there stuck that stick with that numbing gel in my mouth, ran around, and by the time he/she got back, which was at least 5-10 minutes later since Dr. Hutchison was busy, the gel had dripped onto my tongue, numbing that, and had filled my mouth with that toxic flavor. As an FYI, every other dentist in the world puts that numbing goo in your mouth for no more than a minute right before they inject the Novocain. It’s not supposed to be a permanent fixture in your mouth. Fast-forward to my next visit --- my 3 hour visit from hell with Dr. Sabrina Goff and her inept minion assistant. It started on a great note, once again with the numbing gel they leave in your mouth forever. I sat down, and Dr. Goff’s minion said, “We’re working on 2 teeth on the left side of your mouth today.” She proceeded to stick the numbing gel on the right side of my mouth. Do we see a problem here? Yes, we have an assistant who doesn’t know right from left. So I sat there fairly certain she had screwed up, but thought maybe she hadn’t. Well, after sitting there for over 5 minutes again with that numbing stick in my mouth, in came Mrs. Novocain (not Goff --- someone else), who said, “Aren’t we working on teeth 13 and 14? You have it on the other side of his mouth.” This is just the type of thing you’re dying to hear in a dental office. Eventually Dr. Goff made her entrance, and started doing the drilling. The problem, however, is that this place is like a dental mill --- they are understaffed with dentists, and instead fill the place with tons of minions. The goal is to book as many patients at a time as possible for one dentist. Dr. Goff was working on at least 2 other patients while I was there, and she does this by jumping around, and having her minion(s) do things like fillings, which I found shocking. So, yes, Mrs. Rightie Leftie did my filling. Not Dr. Goff. I’m expecting the filling to fall out in a week, as I have no faith in this woman. On top of everything else, whenever she inserted this enormous mouth opening/saliva sucking contraption into my mouth, she’d do it in such a way as to dig into the back of my gums. Dr. Goff would put it in the right way; Rightie Leftie would do it the wrong way. After the filling was done, Dr. Goff made her grand entrance to look things over and start work on another tooth which was getting a crown. The fun continued here as Rightie Leftie was sticking in a giant suction tube in my mouth on the left side, and Goff was doing her work on the right side. Goff kept saying “Turn towards me.” I was like….do you not see Rightie Leftie and her giant saliva vac on the other side of my face? The left side of my mouth is still red and sore from all the tugging. Since they make crowns on site, I was told by Goff it would be about 20 minutes. Instead it turned into close to an hour wait, because, as I said, they had too many patients. And Goff….shockingly, or maybe not….wasn’t even the person to put the crown in. Instead it was Rightie Leftie again, as Goff was busy….or whatever….with other patients. I’ve had root canals before that were less annoying than this. My advice to them: Hire some qualified dentists, or book less patients.

I had missed one appointment and had to reschedule twice, prior to finally getting my upper left third molar removed, due to a cavity that caused decay, ultimately a hole. The receptionists were more than patient when it came to booking me for an appointment. The follow-up was exceptional and they kept constant communication with me over email when I had a few number changes. The dental assistant is truly a pleasure. Shes humorous and tries to relate with patients to make them feel more comfortable. I told her I was very nervous and she helped relieve my anxiety with laughter. During the numbing shots, she held and massaged my hand. Truly a wonderful woman. The doctor came in, sat down with me to discuss any concerns or questions I might have and explain the procedure. He was kind, and genuine, with a comforting smile. While numbing, he alerted me of what was happening without over explaining. He was very quick and accurate with the numbing shots. After the shots, he told me he was going to give me ample time to allow for numbing of the entire area. I watched Netflix while waiting to be ready for the procedure. When he came back, he made sure I was OK and ready for the procedure. He propped me up, and my tooth was out in maybe 2 minutes! He even showed it to me afterwards and explained what had happened and pointed out the source of my pain. I was given aftercare instructions, a pack of gauze, and an Rx for pain. The checkout process was quick and easy, and the receptionist- so lovely and sweet. Though I move around a lot, and now live on the other side of town, I will drive any distance to get any and all work done here. Big plus is at 175 for an extraction, if you are a cash paying patient, it is very affordable. I paid about 300 for the same thing two years ago when I lived in New Orleans, at an office not half as nice. Thank you Highpointe, for providing necessary procedures at affordable prices in a warm and welcoming environment.

Never thought I would give a dentist 5 stars! I have had some serious issues with dentists and hygienists from price gouging and unnecessary treatment to dislike of their bedside manner and time management skills. But HighPointe Dental surprised me. Dr. Hutchison is awesome. I recently broke a filling and they were so accommodating on appointments for new patients. They seem to run on time because of the large number of staff members they have. When I came in, they didnt give me flack about how long it had been since Id seen a dentist. The cleaning they did was super expedient and not painful for once. Their digital x-rays are sooo much more comfortable than the old bite-wing films! Upon leaving my first appointment, they were completely no-pressure about the work that needed to be done. Which is a far cry from the last dentist I saw who had me meet with a payment specialist right away to figure out how I could finance it with their credit card! When they asked what work I wanted done, I postponed my fillings for prioritizing the crown on the broken tooth and no questions were asked! Then for my follow-up appointment for the crown I was similarly pleased. They got me in immediately, made me very comfortable with headphones, Netflix, water, etc. The device they use to hold open your mouth is better than most with a built-in sucker and guard for your tongue. They didnt make me maneuver, but worked around me instead so I could just enjoy my movie while they worked. The technology they use to make a crown is mind-blowing, frankly. Whenever we would take breaks or something new would happen, they would reassure me and ask how I was doing. And the best part is that they showed me everything so I would understand. This is what I would hope every dentist could be like. Thank you so much HighPointe Dental!
