ER is a horrible experience. I layed there for over 2 hours and was ignored. I understand the hospital may be busy but all someone had to do was stop by and let me know they had an emergency or they were at capacity, any kind of communication would have been fine. The “nurse “didn’t even have enough sense to give me a blanket as I was shivering from chills. I had to go find one on my own. Then after over 2.5 hours of being ignored, I realized I had a few oxy left over from a skin cancer surgery at home that would cover my pain until the morning and I could go somewhere else. On my way out the nurse at reception was rude, and I said I waited all that time to be ignored and she did not even care. It is typical for this place. Then some idiot in a wheelchair who overheard me tries to lecture me that I am fine since I was not in a car accident. Like this idiot knows anything as to why I am there. Next day went right to urgent care in Brookfield who did more for me in 10 minutes than that Danbury pathetic ER did in almost 3 hours. I even got a light oxy script to help with my pain until I saw my primary care later that day, that the urgent care called and set up for me. However, I am in my mid 40s so to give me eight oxy 5/325 is no big deal. I would not be 25 and go to urgent care for pain meds, you will not get them. To make a long story short, Danbury Hospital is not a good hospital and most good reviewed are from employees pretending to be the patents they care for. I know because I know some former employees who tell me all the horror stories of that place and why they left. My GF has chronic Lyme, fibromyalgia and an autoimmune disorder that causes horrible chronic pain. She is 27 and they treat her like garbage even after being admitted with blood pressure and a heart rate that would scare anyone. They accuse her of being there for pain pills, search her bags, everything yet she is diagnosed chronically ill BY DANBURY HOSPITAL. Yeah, they are that sick over there. Unless I am dying, never again.

So lets get one thing straight. You go to a hospital when youre sick, right? Or you go there when your loved one is sick, right? Right. Youre not there for an amusement ride or a picnic. Youre there in a depressed mood, hoping that the person youre visiting becomes all right. Youre still working full time, hoping that you can pay the bills for this person you care about. So. Why is there need for a bad attitude by some people in the front desk? Today, at the Praxair Cancer Center at 7:10pm, this woman blond, white woman with a blue shirt would not let someone go visit a patient. She also refused my mom from seeing my sister when my sisters nurse clearly said that she could. When the nurse called that annoying woman at the desk, that woman seemed surprised. Yeah, you thought we were lying? Why didnt you call the nurse up yourself? I totally understand the need for confidentially and rules. I am willing to abide by them. Just dont treat me like an illiterate person when I ask to see the written rules. Whos paying the bills for this institution? Yeah, me. So why are you giving me attitude when my life is already going down the drain? So yeah, all of Danbury Hospital is fine, except for her. Shes the only reason that I give this place a one star. I wont change my rating until she is fired, since today was the 3rd day that she gave my family and I a hard time.

I and a very sick family member have been to Danbury Hospital ER many times. Also been to their Medical Arts building for outpatient testing and their affiliated Western Connecticut Imaging for x-ray and CT scan. The ER staff try their best, but if your condition is complicated these people might be in over their heads. The outpatient testing and Imaging are awful. Two of three CT scans they did had to be repeated at another facility because the quality was so poor. Their radiologist couldnt tell a cyst from a tumor on a CT scan, which my GP could tell from a 3-second look at the CT. The medical arts outpatient testing facility is like a ghost town. Despite no other patients being there before, during, or after me, they still couldnt get an EKG read and sent to my doc who asked to have it the same day. Overall, I would say if you have an emergency and its the closest hospital, theres a pretty good chance you will get the attention you need. If you need any kind of diagnostic testing that is not an emergency, go somewhere else. If you have any type of complicated illness and have a choice, better to go somewhere else. NYC is just a little more than a 1 hr drive from Danbury. Go to NY Presbyterian, Mt. Sinai, NYU Langone, NY Hospital-Cornell.

This hospital has the most backwards stance on birthing. There "Birthing center" after combining with New Milford has the worst policy I have ever seen. It is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS THAT THEY TRY TO PROMOTE A FAMILY BONDING DURING THE PROCESS WHEN THEY FORCE YOU TO SHARE A ROOM WITH SOMEONE THEN FORCE THE HUSBANDS TO LEAVE AT 8PM WHEN THEY ARE IN A SHARED ROOM. I can understand the reason to have shared rooms as a last resort. I can ever understand new time frames for visitors but how can you promote family bonding when the husband can not even be there to help the wife in her time of need. Now the nurses are the nicests in the world but you kick out a husband that has helped his wife in her hardest hour because you are too full and have to put them in a joint room but your nurses are so understaffed that they cant even perform simple tasks for the wife while the husband isnt there. WHAT THIS HOSPITAL DOES TO NEW FAMILIES SHOULD BE CONSIDERED ILLEGAL AND IN MOST FIRST WORLD COUNTIES WOULD NEVER BE TOLERATED. HOW IS THIS ALLOWED IN THE US, THESE KIND OF SCENARIOS THAT HAPPEN TO COUNTLESS OTHER FAMILIES AT HOSPITALS SHOULD NO LONGER BE TOLERATED. WE NEED TO ACT BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!!!!!

Horrible my 13 year old son had to have his appendix out the er was quick about finding the problem and getting him into surgery however after was a nightmare. My son was never listed so they never told me when he was in recovery he stated alone for 4hours with a stranger scared. When I finally asked what was going on and where my son was they had to track him down. His nurse was less then friendly and just wanted him out the door she took the iv out way to early. He had a supposed reaction to the pain meds a rash that lasted 5mins so the on call doctor not the one who did the surgery that doctor was great the on call doctor said he was to be sent home that day with nothing but Motrin. I tried in vain to plead with them to give my son something else didnt need to be a narcotic she not only refused but talked to me like I was below her and didnt know how to parent. I might add I have a 23yr old who had the same surgery when she was younger this was not my first time dealing with this. That doctor was rude had no manners and was way out of line. She just didnt care. Her attitude not her kid and once gone not her problem. Worse experience ever!!!
