I went to Dr. Amatuzzi last month to get my contact lense and glasses prescriptions renewed. When I sat down with him, I explained to him that money was a bit tight for me right now and that I preferred not to get the "fitting" done for the contacts if I didnt have to. Like for most people, my insurance doesnt cover it. Its a $45 charge just for the doctor to put contact lenses in your eyes and basically make sure they are comfortable. So unless youre getting a new type of lens, most people dont need a fitting. Dr. Amatuzzi seemed to be ok with this. But then 15 minutes later sat me down for a fitting. It seems unnecessary, cause the the brand of lenses is the exact same as my current ones, just a slightly lower number. He tells me not to worry about it, that he isnt going to charge me for the fitting. I thought he was just being a nice guy, trying to develop the confidence of a new patient. Afterwards, he makes me go with this rep who explains all these options about buying glasses and contacts from him. I tell him that I get my glasses and contacts elsewhere, and that Im just fine, thanks. Then when I try to leave, the doctor tries to charge me $45 for the fitting. You said it was free, I told him. He says, its free if you buy contact lenses from me. In other words, the guy is a con artist, as are his cronies working there, trying to squeeze every penny out of you where ever they can. From the rep trying to sell me glasses and lenses to the receptionist who, when I went to pick up my contacts, tried to charge me for lens solution which I never asked for. You go in there and the guy acts like hes your best friend, while he reaches for your wallet. Oh, so then I agree to buy the contacts from him cause net-net it ends up being the cheapest thing for me, not paying the $45. They tell me its gonna be a week and theyll call me. Two weeks go by, no call. So I call the place myself, and after taking about 20 minutes to look, the lenses are there. Unfortunately, there arent a ton of options around here, but I wont be going back. Probably just go to Costco next time.

Dr. Amatuzzi is top notch. He and his staff are very welcoming, friendly and experienced. He truly cares about the well being of his patients. Ive been visiting Dr. Amatuzzi for a few years due to a condition called central serous retinopathy, which he has called "the largest case hes ever seen." He takes great care each and every visit to ensure the condition wasnt becoming detrimental to my vision. I would highly recommend Dr. Amatuzzi.
