I am so sorry to hear the negative reviews about Dr. Taubin. I absolutely adore him. I have been going to his office for more than 13 years. I love Kim. I dont know her title, but she greets me when I come in and she answers the phones. I dont go there often, but Kim always remembers my name. Shes been there for years. Ive always found her to be very helpful. As others mentioned, Dr. Taubin does talk fast. I can also understand how others feel rushed. I used to feel that way until I realized that I am the patient and I still have questions. I let him know when I dont understand something. He slows down and explains what I am uncertain about. I always leave his office feeling assured that he heard me and I have received a proper diagnosis. I think that he is aware of the "feeling rushed" complaints and he will slow down; but you have to speak up. Dr. Taubin also sends his patients to the best specialists in the area. I had a girlfriend that was diagnosed with cancer and Dr. Taubin referred her to a wonderful specialist. He had to refer me to two specialist as well. Both of them were listed in the Washingtonian Magazine Top Doctors during their recent career. One morning, I was very upset because I had to wait and I let him have it. He told me that he understood. He encouraged me to let it all out. He apologized and then old me that someone came to the office feeling very ill first thing in the morning. He had to call the ambulance, because the patient was having a medical emergency and could have potentially died. I will always remember that visit.

Dr. Taubin is a nice guy - no part of me doubts that. But is he who I want to see when Im at my sickest? Probably not. For starters, his office staff is unbelievably difficult to work with, both in person & over the phone. I always dread having to call them. Theyre unlikely to try to help you squeeze in an appointment, even if its urgent, & no matter what time they book you for, youll end up waiting for at least an hour when you get there, anyway. Dr. Taubin talks a mile a minute & doesnt seem to listen very well. He rushes through consultations, breezes through records, usually prescribes "hot showers & a nasal spray," & generally doesnt seem to have time to go more in depth on... well, anything. I always leave feeling rushed & flustered, like I had 10 more questions I wasnt given time to ask. I recently had an experience here that has me looking elsewhere for my primary care. Dr. Taubin called me at 9pm on a weekday to give me my lab results, when he broke the fairly dramatic & upsetting news that I have Celiac Disease. He recommended a specialist who he suggested I see ASAP - & when I did, the specialist told me my internist had overreacted & that nothing in my blood work confirmed or even really highly suggested Celiac. More likely, he said, I had a slight gluten insensitivity. I appreciated Dr. Taubins calling me personally to give me the results of my test, but I cant help but feel like the way he delivered them was unnecessarily alarmist. Im looking for a new internist, but Dr. Taubin & his office work in a pinch.

Unfortunately for Dr. Taubin, who is a good Dr., the overall experience with the office staff makes this Dr. not worth your time. I ignored friends advice on this matter (and the reviews below), and I am very sorry I did. Here is a sampling just from one attempt to get lab results: Lab results two days late; calling three days in a row and waiting on hold for a total of 1 HOUR!; then being cut off because the lunch hour phone line recording kicked in; being told twice the nurse must call me back; being told by another staff member the nurse is not allowed to call me back on the same issue; never getting called back. Do not underestimate how much time you need to spend dealing with a Drs office not just the Dr. If you only need a Dr. once a year for a check up than perhaps Dr. Taubin is your guy. But if you plan to get sick periodically or EVER need to have the staff help you in any way (ie: insurance filings, lab results, record retreival) run as far as you can to someone where the staff is at least marginally as good as the Dr. What a waste of time. Clearly neither Dr. is reading the reviews. One friend is leaving the practice. I am right behind her.

Ive been with Dr. T for over 20 years!!! I love him as a person. I love him as a resource for knowledge and experience. My respect for he and his practice are at extremely high. Unfortunately, with regard to my services of the past few years, I feel the "take a number" attitude. I am a person who respects the doctors time and I never attempt to take up too much of his valuable time. The issue when its my turn, I expect full attention to details. I do NOT feel that way any longer. I pray that this changes soon but the likelihood of that happening is doubted.

I have been seeing Dr. Taubin for almost a decade and he is a wonderful, caring physician -- he naturally talks very fast, but dont think hes rushing you, because he also listens very well. If it were not for him, I might have ignored a fatal condition last year (the hospital he referred me to couldnt find anything and released me, but Taubin insisted I go to a different hospital which operated and found a dangerous growth). The office is quite busy so be prepared to wait, but that is a small price for the excellent care he gives.

Dr. Taubin is a good doctor, but is now to old to focus or take time with one patient. I would always tell him to slow down and listen to me... he would impatiently do but never follow up on what you say, always had his on opinion. Even though you no your on body and no what other doctors said be for you start seeing him. because of that I am now dealing with an issue that could have been prevented... if he just would have listen and followed through.... :( Please listen to your patients)

Want your lab results? Call every day for a week, getting the same automated message and finally getting a voicemail message three weeks after the tests to say the results were OK. No actual results or further information. Want a prescription refill. Have your pharmacist fax a request and they might get around to it this month. Poorest doctors office efficiency Ive ever encountered, which makes it the lowest of the bottom-feeders.

I have had prompt, responsive service when I needed assistance. For example, I phoned the office when I had forgotten my medication while traveling and they immediately faxed a prescription to the nearest pharmacy. I have been seen in a very short period of time when necessary. I find Dr. Taubin very personable, knowledgeable, and thorough. Five stars!
