Terrible Experience! I was referred here by my clinic Whitman-Walker for surgery with Dr. Onyewu that would be covered by my insurance. I spoke with the office manager (Nirmala) one May 17 and scheduled my surgery for July 12, she said she needed to confirm the date with hospital and if there was an issue she would call be back otherwise she would submit to insurance for Pre-Authorization ASAP. A month passed and I had not heard from their office, so I sent Nirmala an email (on June 6) requesting an update and got no response. I contacted insurance to see if there were any pre-authorizations on file and was told nothing had been submitted. I called 3 days later and was told she had left for the day, called the following week and was told she was out sick but if I left a message she would get back with me. Four days later no one had gotten back to me so I called again, I was told yet again that she was not in the office and I left another message. I reached out to my referral coordinator at the clinic that referred me here and it took them about two weeks to get in touch with Nirmala who told them she had not submitted anything due to some problems with the schedule but was working on it. I decided to give it another week, another week passed and I did not hear back. I called another surgeon and got a consult for the following week. I have never encountered such an unprofessional medical staff in my whole life, I lost about 3 months of my time with a process that does not to be made any harder than it already is.

The Doctor is very knowledgeable and was very patient with me. So professional. I have never had a doctor address the issue the way he did. I already feel better and i have started treatments. I would definitely recommend family and friends.
