I was really excited about trying out this new eye doctor, as its located in the same town I live. Went in & had a great exam with a very kind doctor. The exam itself went flawless. Unfortunately, some bad policies & a very rude front office staff ruined my visit & left alot to be desired. After my exam & eye dilation, they asked me over & over if I wanted to purchase glasses from their office. Now, I couldnt see a thing due to the eye dilation & they knew this. As you can imagine, I was not interested in buying glasses that I couldnt even see! But that didnt stop them from harassing me. To top things off, their eyewear prices were much too high, not to mention that they charge $100+ for basic single vision lenses on top of the price of the frames. No normal, middle class American is going to spend that kind of money. And they know this too. I had planned to purchase my frames online from a direct dealer, so that I could get two pair, with one as a backup. Therefore, I asked the front office staff for my PD number. Your PD is the distance between the centre of one pupil to the centre of the other pupil. This number is very important when ordering glasses & is usually not included on your paper prescription. They promptly informed me that I would have to pay an additional $25 for this information. I was blown away. They reason they gave me for this was that they did not want me to buy glasses online, as that means they would lose out on additional profit. In order to make up for this loss, they charge for your PD information. This is cleverly written in a policy that you sign when you first come into the office (in very small print) Not only should this be illegal, but its incredibly rude for them to tell me where I should & should not buy my eyewear. They know this information is needed & they deliberately withheld it until they made a small profit. Its WRONG. I left & will not be back. This eye doctor will not get away with treating customers in such a poor manner. I will be contacting the BBB regarding their business practices & filing an official complaint. On top of that, I phoned my insurance company & told them what happened. They informed me that I was due to get a full exam & that if I did not get all the information I needed, they would file a complaint for me & would not cover the claim when it went through. So that means this company lost out on a lot more than a $25 profit! I highly suggest if you live in the Port St. John area, you look elsewhere for an eye doctor. PS. I called a previous eye doctor & was given my PD number over the phone. That doctor, though located much farther away from my current town, will be getting my business from this point forward!

I first went to the PSJ eye care at the beginning of this year and seemed to be treated fairly, as long as they got their money. They charge way more then an arm and a leg for their frames and lenses; however, due to me being new in the prescription eye ware department I was unaware of this at the time, so I did purchase from them. Recently my glasses were broken by my 3 year old. Instead of paying the absurdly high PSJ eye care prices, I decided I would purchase offline. I called the PSJ eye care office and was greeted over the phone by what seemed to be a very impatient lady. I explained I was a customer of theirs and would like to know my PD number so I could purchase new eyewear. She asked me my name and all other pertinent information. Then she asked me when I would like to schedule an eye exam. I explained that I did not need another eye exam, because I had been in earlier that year, and she confirmed she seen I was at the office in February. Then she went on to say that she could not give me my PD number without another eye exam. Again, I told her I wanted to purchase new glasses offline and she replied that I could choose from some in the store. This went on for several minutes until I finally gave up. The lady on the phone was completely rude the entire conversation and refused to provide me with my PD numbers. I have never wrote a online review before, but this is experience gave me such a bad impression of their store it provoked me to write my very first. I have many of friends who have all advised me to steer clear of PSJ eye care due to their many bad experiences, and now I understand why. So it is my recommendation for anyone else seeking eye care to look elsewhere and to stay away from these crooks.

I am glad that I am not going to go there for an eye exam! An individual I spoke on a phone asked if I will bring glasses or buy them at their location. I said that I have my own pair. Then, she started to give me comparisons of Porshe and some other car make. I responded that I have my own glasses and there is no need for a new pair. She said that when they will put the glass into a frame they might break it because the frame is old. It made me think that they are okay to brake a frame costumer already has, for him/her to buy one of theirs. After reading the reviews of other people, I realized that I will have to go someplace else because I do not want them to break anything. Unfortunately, some businesses do not want to do their job, but concentrate on making a profit, even if it means doing wrong to the costumer to attain that goal.

The office staff is wonderful and very helpful, on the other hand the scheduling receptionist Barbara is rude and doesnt like to help. She doesnt go the extra mile to help or make the patients and family feel like she has done all she could to help. This has been happening for the last 3 years and still she remains the same. May be looking for a new optometrist for my family of 5.

Port St. John Eye Care has been my provider for 16 years and they treat me like family. I recently broke my eye glasses and they went above and beyond to help me replace them affordably. Im a customer for life and so are my family members.

I drive from melbourne to get my exam and glasses because there is not one vision center I can find in Brevard county that compares to the service I get at PSJ Eye Care. Simply the best on the Space Coast!
