Arrived 20 minutes prior to appt. for Pre-op cataract surgery. Was immediately taken into finance office so Ms. Patel could collect surgery co-pay. I had an issue with that as I had not yet consented to any surgery, had signed no paperwork, etc.... Next I was herded into an area for "special testing" which admitted to being about 40 minutes behind schedule. Luckily, I didnt have to wait that long, but while waiting, it appeared the entire staff was running around with confused looks on their faces as if they were all lost. In the midst of my "special testing", the technicians decided to switch off. WTF!! I get in to the surgery scheduler and she was the only one that seemed to have any sense, compassion, and honesty. I was supposed to meet with the doc prior to scheduler, but understand that they switched things up because he had a few emergencies, which I have no problem with. I get in to see the Doc 2+ hours later, have conversation, decide on replacement lens, then herded back to scheduler to finish up the paperwork. So here Ive chosen a specialty lens that will cost quite a bit more than the norm, walk up front to pay my office co-pay and for the lens, and the lazy a$$ fat woman says she cant take my Care Credit Card because it doesnt have the VISA logo. She said Id have to go somewhere else to pay with that card, however, she didnt bother to tell me where I needed to go and who I needed to see. So....after a 3 hour ordeal in this chaotic place and a 50 mile round trip, 4 hours missed of work, who knows if Ill even have the surgery as the paperwork says it will be canceled if specialty lenses are paid for in advance. Maybe fat a$$ would like the charges taken out of her pay. Ive never been in an establishment that was so out of sorts and to have someone too damn lazy to take $1K that someone was trying to pay them. If your optometrist suggests Horizon, I would stongly suggest you ask for an alternative because these people are obviously not the professional quality one expects. I cant comment on the doc, as he just pops in and out in about 5 - 10 minutes. The rest of the appointment time, youre at the mercy of a bunch of clowns.

Arrived 15 min prior to appointment to handle any last minute documentation. Staff handed me forms to complete. I mentioned I registered online and previously provided all my information via the online registration process, and again at the front desk check-in kiosk(PIA). Staff asked if I had the printout? I indicated I was unaware of the need to have the printout since I did not recall the website indicating this? Staff recanted the need to complete the registration form(s). Waited 15 minutes past scheduled appointment time and approched staff to confirm my appointment time was 15 minutes prior, which they confirmed. I was then wisked into an exam room where a staff member bought some time by doing a cursory vision test and asking me for all the information I previously provided over the phone when I made the appointment. I was then moved to a new cattle/patient staging area and told Dr. Rosen was running behind (thanks for confirming the obvious). Waited 15 more minutes and opted to terminate my relationship with this office on my first visit. It is very obvious that this practice does not value their patients time. If a practice is this blatant in terms of devaluing the patient, one has to question how professional the actual care will be once you are actually treated? I guess I am a demanding patient, I want the office run like a business, and I want professional docs that understand my time is as valuable as theirs. Apparently, I was expecting too much!

Horrible experience. My child is very sensitive to chemicals and medicines. I made an appt for a stye that was diagnosed at an urgent care. When we arrived my copay was taken and we were made to wait 30 minutes past my appt time. Then when finally called basic eye checks were done. After that long wait, long vision test and waiting on everything to be typed in we were told hed need to be chemically dialated. This was all relayed by a tech no doctor. We asked to see what was in the dialating drops and were not given any packet insert. Next we were told that he HAD to be dialated to be even seen by the doctor even though his issue is an exterior stye. We said we didnt want to dilate unless we saw and could talk to the doctor first. We were then made to wait longer and finally a nurse came in and said take the dilation or the doctor wouldnt come in. At this point the strong arm approach had completely turned us off so we declined. The doctor would not even come in. Not even come discuss the chemical with us or even look at my childs stye for the re evaluation we had just paid for. We missed school all for this ridiculous head strong experience and lack of care for my childs well being. This man obviously isnt a doctor because he cares about children if a strong arm approach is more important than the patient.

This place sucks, but the internet is a marvelous thing - just learn from my mistake and Google another place to go! Even though I had an appointment, I waited several hours. The waiting room wasnt even that full. This seems to be the norm. Front desk staff is rude. I wanted to pick out new glasses, but by the time we got to that point my eyes were dilated, my head spinning (went there originally for chronic migraines), and I was starving as it was well past lunch. I told them to just update the lenses in my old frames, b/c I was in no position to look through a room of new frames. They told me it would be a week before I received my glasses, so I have spent the past week and a half straining my eyes. I called in on Friday to see if they were ready, as they said they would be, but they werent. I called again Monday, still not ready. Left a VM Tuesday (today) and still havent heard back. Places Ive been to in the past have been faster, friendlier, and provided me with new glasses the day I arrive. The fact that they sent me home after that long wait with no way to see and havent even had the decency to follow up with me is ridiculous. Since theyre not open after business hours, I will have to take off work to pick up my glasses if and when they are ever ready.....

But the rest? I am so MAD. We have gone to Horizon Eye care since 1988. We buy their contacts from them even though they are 40% higher because Kelly in contact dept is great and we are loyal. The exam is usually $190 and up (more if you are insured and we are not) if you want glasses and contacts prescription. When my daughter needed stronger lenses in her Kate Spades which we bought from Horizon for $500 they said they would charge $270 to put new lenses in. So we went to Belk and they sold her new Brooks Bros or Versace frames (cant remember which) and lenses for $320. Anyway, my husband is out of contacts and I made an appt. for glasses and contacts prescription with Horizon. I also asked for my pupillary distance number so I can use my current Horizon prescription online at that great Clark Howard site. That is all they need to sell me eyeglasses for both of us once we send a prescription. I am still willing to pay 40% more for contacts because Kelly is great but I cannot afford their eyeglasses too. Horizon refused. V angry but calmly I asked them if they were willing to lose a family of 4 as customers over this and they said yes.
