I had lasik surgery performed at Christenbury a year and a half ago. Overall all Im pleased with the results. My eye sight is now very good. Unfortunately, I dont know what my vision is rated at because Christenbury never mentioned it to me on the checkups that where scheduled. I was able to attend one of the checkups one week after surgery. It was understood that my left eye had slightly worse vision then my right. They said that my eyes where still recovering so it wasnt clear if my vision was 20/20 in both eyes. Anyways, they where supposed to make a reminder call for the next two scheduled checkups they never made those calls and I never attended anymore checkups. My eyes feel like they recovered as much as possible, but I still have slightly worse vision in my left eye. I also have a small sensation that there is something in my left eye(this doesnt bother me that much). The only reminder call they made was the one when they scheduled my surgery. After that its been quiet. They said that they would make reminder calls but they never did. I also feel like I was pressured by their employees into doing business with them. They told me these great stories of how lasik made their lives so much better and stuff, yet they left out many negatives and didnt mention how people can suffer after surgery. They also told me that their office is the most advanced office on the east coast and that people travel to their location from out of state sometimes as far a Florida. That may or may not be true. Right now I feel like they were all salesmen (or saleswomen) trying to sell me their product. Unfortunately thats how the business works. They dont care about you, but hey care about the money. They mentioned no negatives except for the dry eyes which is what all patients have post-surgerey. They said nothing about the horrible pain that I had to endure after surgery. Nor did they say anything about rubbing my eyes until the day of surgery. The pain after surgery was very intense. The best way to describe it would be 100 needles pressing down on a space as small as the eye. After surgery, I couldnt do anything for the first three days. Opening my eyes was a pain that I did not wasnt to commence. I laid in bed those 3 days. if I had to walk, I did it with my eyes completely shut. After the 3 days, I started to do some daily tasks. My eyes where still in pain but not as bad. I still kept them shut for 16-20 hours a day. This lasted for about 5 days. Sometimes I would get this sharp pain in my eye that would cause my neck to uncontrollably twitch to the side. I also had double vision, which becomes more noticeable at night on certain lights. Things started to become more bearable after one month. I still had to use eye drops, but at least now I was allowed to rub my eyes. This actually caused me to feel a reminiscence of the lasik pain. This lasted up to 6 months. After 6 months or so, my double vision went away. I cant say for sure, but it took me almost 1 year to fully recover. I dont use eye drops anymore. Though my eyes can still get dry if I dont get 8 hours of sleep. Like I already mentioned, I still have a feeling of something foreign in my left eye, which is a minor inconvenience. Im sure that not everyone will have this same experience as me. However, I believe that all future patients need to be aware of the possible after effects of Lasik. It should be the institutions responsibility to make the patients fully aware of the possible after effects. (there was a lot more I could have mentioned.)

I had Lasik with Dr. Christenbury a week ago and I am pleased with the service and results that were delivered. ==The Process== The entire process went very smoothly, from consultation to actual surgery. On the day of my consultation I was taken through a series of tests to determine my eligibility for Lasik. The consultation took about two hours but that time was not spent sitting and waiting on people to see me. I waited for maybe 10-15 minutes when I first arrived to be seen and then towards the end of the consultation I waited about 10 minutes for Dr. Christenbury to review my results. The remainder of my consultation appointment was spent conducting tests on my eyes. Dr. Christenbury reviewed a few metrics with me that were relevant in determining eligibility and gave me the thumbs up. Upon leaving, I sat with a "surgical counselor" to talk about pricing and terms, put in my deposit and hit the door. Everything seemed to happen so quick and smooth that I didnt even realize that I scheduled my surgery on the way out. I was definitely excited to get rid of my terrible vision. ==Surgery== The day of surgery started by checking in with the surgical counselor followed by paying my outstanding balance. I spent the next hour doing a typography test that would essentially provide the data to the Lasik machines to conduct a "custom" surgery unique to me. Shortly thereafter I took some meds, put on a funny hat and had my eyes peeled like an onion. It was short, sweet, and painless. The surgery was about 15 minutes long and YES you do see everything going into your eye but you feel nothing. Its really weird but definitely was not a big deal for me to sit through. The staff was very supportive and helpful in getting me through surgery with as few issues as possible. ==Follow-up & My vision== The only reason why Im rating Christenbury Eye Center 4/5 stars is that the expectations for what to expect after surgery was never really laid out to me. CEC did a good job of selling me on the surgery and a great job of performing the surgery but I found it very difficult to recover from the surgery. My vision is improving on a daily basis but my eyes are very fatigued and its been a difficult week for me at work. When I was conducting my consultation I was confidently informed that Id be "ready to go back to work by Monday" with surgery occurring on a Friday. Had I been informed of the longer recovery process, I would have adjusted my expectations and really would have had no problem dealing with recovery. In conclusion, if I had been told that my recovery time would take a while and that it would be more difficult than promised, I would still do the surgery and rate CEC a 5/5. Bottom line: my vision is improving daily and its great to be able to see without contacts or glasses. Id do it again!

I made the decision to have LASIK a while back after asking friends and family my fiancé and I decided with Christenbury, if I knew what I know now I would of went elsewhere. It seemed like I had some type of issues from day one. The administration staff here is flat out horrible, every time I would call I would get. conflicting answers from different people at this Facility. Trying to find out the time of my surgery was like pulling teeth, finally the day before I figured I would call to see what was going on and why I havent received the call but received a text message on the time of my one day follow up, the lady at the front desk respond with because of the Easter holiday we are backed logged and it seemed your paper work was misfiled. On the day of the surgery I am at the front to pay, I was paying two different forms of personal payment, when the lady took the first card it said pending so the other lady took my other card and slid it on her computer, she told me that it seemed the first card didnt go through and gave me the card to slide myself on the second Machine then tells me it was declined, I call my bank and he told me that the paynent did go through and the exact time it was placed. She could not give be a valid response to why she was trying to charge the card twice. After all that was said and done we step back to another room for the pre surgery check, then we were placed in the room to wait for the doctor. When the doctor came in the door it was not the doctor I had met the day I scheduled the surgery apparently the front staff had messed up my paper work and some how had me down with the wrong doctor and the wrong form of LASIK. Thank goodness one of the doctors assistance who also caught the mistake and was coming in there to tell him, Im not able to recall her name but her calm and caring attitude is the only reason I decided to continue on with the surgery after all the mistakes the staff had made. The afternoon after my surgery someone from the center was suppose to give a courtesy call i never did receive a follow up. It is a day after my surgery and I can definitely see some what of an improvement.I believe that Dr. Christenbury did a wonderful job but with his front staff and the multiple bad experiences, which there were a few others i didnt list above that I just personally am not able to recommend them.
