The office visit was fine. I went in for an irritated eye, they inspected and confirmed it wasnt scratched or otherwise injured, and provided eye drops to ease the discomfort. However, their billing policy is a pain in the neck. I have very good insurance combined with an HRA such that I do not need to pay out of pocket for any services, and do not need to handle claims, etc. However, unlike all my other doctors, this office requires you to pay the full office visit at time of service instead of filing with the insurance and sending a bill for the balance. Since I have to pay at time of service, I have to then monitor to be sure that I receive a check form the HRA and then ensure that the doctors office sends me a check for the network discount that is applied. So, instead of them just getting paid directly from my insurance a week or two after service, I have to pay money now, and then monitor to ensure that I receive checks from two different parties. This office needs to get their act together and not treat patients like they are criminals who are not going to pay their bills. I appreciate my other doctors, and will be finding a different place for eye care!
