The other reviews touch on the problem: Dr Pockl and the backoffice staff are just fine. Professional, helpful and thorough. Its the front desk thats a problem and the front desk gal who presides over everyone--employees and customers--with barely disguised impatience. She exudes passive-aggressive behavior ("since you dont know who your vision care insurance is with, I will have to call later for you.") I did know and told her when I showed her my insurance card. She just didnt recognize the company and wouldnt accept my word. There is a running undercurrent of tension between her and the others. During my most recent visit they were arguing under their breath right in front of me. I had to wait for them to finish before they would focus their attention on me. It mystifies me why the owners of this business would tolerate this one employee especially since it seems to affect business. Getting an appointment is no problem and there is rarely more than one other customer there along with me. My first visit a couple years ago they got the prescription wrong and I had to wait another two weeks for my glasses. This latest visit they forgot to print out for me my two separate prescriptions. I expect thats enough tries for me and I will research another optical care retailer for next time.

Dr. Mathews is great. Very through. Unfortunately a couple of the office staff are not. No follow through. My eye glass order was lost. Now my contact was lost. The bothersome part is that I had to call and ask them to call the contact company and get a tracking number. The contact company didnt give the tracking number the three times that Devine Eyes called. First time the request was made. The second time the contact lense person was at lunch, the third time the contact lense place stated that they will reship the lense. Devine Eyes states that their customer generally dont ask for a tracking number. I normally do not, however, if a pkg. is lost I do. Granted devine Eyes did not loose the lense, BUT why do business with someone who makes u loose business??Why does a cutomer have to ask u to call the place where the item was ordered from?

The tech that did the exam was great and I liked Dr. Pockl. Its the miserable woman that works at the front desk that ruins the entire experience. I got the impression she was the Office Manager by the way she was rudely bossing everyone around in front of patients. She is very unfriendly, acts put out when you ask questions, didnt crack a smile the entire time I spoke to her. Why would anyone want to choose and order frames from them if it means spending more time with her? This was my first and last visit. I administer benefits for many large and small businesses and I will recommend to my clients that they do NOT go to Devine Eyes.

The doctors were very professional and nice. The front office staff however was the worst I have ever experienced. Rude, condescending, incompetent, and impatient. They could not explain the bill, they could not adjust my wifes frames correctly, and they could not speak to us without rolling their eyes and mumbling under their breath to each other. There was one young lady who stepped in to help us and we are thankful for her help- but the other two ladies were truly unbelievable. I would never go back there again unless I knew those ladies were gone.

Awesome! Every time I come here I am taken care of so well. I called last minute on a Friday because I was having issues with one of my eyes. Dr. Matthews had already left but came back into the office to make sure I was taken care of because he did not want me going all weekend without treatment! Will not go anywhere else for my eye care!!! The staff is super knowledgeable and funny and sincerely care. I am a hairstylist I can tell when someone is genuine and when they are not! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Knowledgeable and friendly. Very helpful with selection and maintenance. If you find a frame somewhere else, ask if they can order it for you so that you get their level of customer service. They happen to be convenient to me because I live a half mile away, but Ive used other stores and have had a better experience with this staff than any other. My only con is that I wish the building owner would repave the parking area. Its difficult to navigate!

I never write reviews. But I had such a hard time finding an eye doctor I felt comfortable with. Hands down. Dr. Matthews is a great doctor. I went to 3 other eye doctors that thought I was too difficult to wear contacts. My first visit with Dr.Matthews and his helpful staff, I walk out with contacts and the skills to put them in and out. I dont even live in the Columbia area anymore but still drive to come see them.

Being a student at USC, I was apprehensive to finding an eye specialist in Columbia rather than just staying with the one I had at home. However, I am so happy that I found Devine Eyes! I was welcomed and kept informed regarding everything during the entire visit. I felt very comfortable and will definitely be coming back. I just wish I would have found them sooner!

Everyone is friendly and approachable. They make sure to work with your insurance company to get you the best price. I only go there for contacts, so I dont know how they are with eyeglasses. Dont worry about getting tested for glaucoma. They numb your eye to conduct the test, which means that you dont have to fear the puff of air that is blown into your eye.

Dr. Matthews is wonderful and the staff are very friendly. My only complaint is that they dont offer frames that are less than $200. While I love the brands they offer, I wish they had some lower price options. Overall I love them and will keep going there.

I have to agree that there are two receptionists who are rude and act annoyed by their customers. I just got off the phone with one who was very demeaning in tone. Their selection is also small and their prices are high. Im switching to a different place.

I went, tried on glasses, was told I could get them in solid black. After about 3 weeks of waiting, I received the glasses but they were black on outside and purple and orange multicolored on the inside. Needless to say, I hate them.
