Dr. Vianna, Dr. Busheler, their vet tech Michele and the entire staff at Veterinary Specialty Hospital of Palm Beach are simply AMAZING! This is the ONLY place to take your pet if your pet needs surgery or any special care beyond a regular veterinarians expertise. I brought my 15 yr old pure bred Maine Coon cat in to my regular vet for his annual physical a little early because I thought he had lost a little weight. My cat was diagnosed by my vet as having a large mass/tumor on his liver after an X-ray and an ultrasound for confirmation that was pushing on his stomach and not allowing him to eat as much as usual. My vet assured me that he is quite capable of handling these types of surgeries but he does not specialize in surgery, and I wanted the very best board-certified veterinary surgeon that I could find just in case there were complications that a regular vet may have found difficult or challenging. After extensive research on where to bring him and who to perform the surgery, I learned that Dr. Vianna at VSH is a board certified specialist in surgery and she is an expert in specialized soft tissue surgery which sounded perfect for my cats liver tumor. Reading her "About Us" bio on her website convinced me to call for the appointment but once I met her I really knew that I had made the right decision. She was extremely kind and empathetic, and very thorough in her examination of my cat and also going through his records and test results that I brought in to help her evaluation. She agreed that it was a liver tumor and it required exploratory surgery. We immediately scheduled it and prayed for the best. Sure enough when she went in, it was a large liver tumor but it also engulfed my cats gall bladder, so to remove the tumor she had to remove his gall bladder as well. This is very tricky and really increased the level of complication of the surgery. Thank goodness my little buddy was in the very best hands possible. He came out of the surgery well and he stayed in intensive care for several days hooked to an ekg and blood pressure machines while the 24hr staff watched to make sure he was healing properly and not in pain. After that he came home and he has slowly gotten back to normal and is now back to eating normal amounts of food, playing, purring and doing everything a healthy cat should! We were extremely fortunate in that when the biopsy came back it showed that the tumor was benign, thank goodness. If it had been cancer, I know that we would have been in the best possible hands to make the best decisions on how to move forward. I must add that before scheduling the surgery I was given a detailed printout of what the cost breakdown was with roughly a +/-10% or so variable for this particular surgery because some things can change depending on what is neded, but I knew at least this much and not more than this much. I was pleased to learn that even with the exra complication of the gall bladder removal, the cost was still within the quoted range. This was very professional and quite a relief! Before going anywhere else for specialty pet care, please do your research and read up on any and all reviews from several websites, etc and make the best decision possible for your pet. Your pet loves you and deserves the very best in specialty care. I know that is precisely what my little buddy received at Veterinary Specialty Hospital of Palm Beach.

I should have written this review a year ago when we first had an amazing experience with VSH. We took our shepard there after he was dealing with some serious complications post surgery for an intestinal obstruction. Since we took him at night we worked with Dr. Shwartz who i hear has since gone to work with dolphins in the keys. We thought we were for sure going to lose him in the condition he was in he hadnt eaten in 4 to 5 days and could not stop throwing up even amidst the previous clinics care. Dr. S and the team turned him around that very night updated us with pictures and emails to help ease our worry. He pulled through but 8 months later we had to take him in again saw the same Dr. To put him down due to a very rough episode of siezures that weekend. Very recently we were there with our lab who had a life thretening emergency condition. This time we worked with Dr. Lippo who from the moment he intoduced himself i could tell his heart was with the animals. After reviewing her case from my vet Dr Michael Gillen who is also amazing and starting her on the appropriate fluids he discused with me her possible situation and the appropriate course of action that needed to be taken. He took his time answering all of my questions and came back out to the lobby to assure me that they would get back to me with more definitave diagnosis, treatment and prognosis after the ultra sound was performed. The front staff is alway welcoming and willing to do what they can to make you and your pet comfortable. The techs came out to transfer her right from my car. They are very good about giving you both a high end and low end complete breakdown of exactly what treatment cost is estimated to be done. I was called promtly and personally from Dr. Lippo to discuss her findings and prognosis. He gave me a little time on a very time sensitive case to think about choices talk to my boyfriend and vet while they waited for blood work. And after taking the time to discuss the case with my vet who called over he was completley honest with the possible grave outcome of her condition. Though he didnt want to put my dog in a money related choice he was very realistic and sensitive about the investment it might take and the quality of her recovery and life after. Though reluctantly we found it in her best intrest to have to say goodbye to myla that day they allowed us as much of the time we needed with her before humainly letting her go. He explained everything with us about the process as we had heard with them before and gave us ample amount of time to be with her again after. He was so compasionate towards us and respectful of all of our decisions. And now that I learned he did schooling in boston and my home state of ri i like him even more! (I do think you guys should get blogs up about all your techs and staff as well. It brings comfort in knowing your team on a very slight personal level)Debra? I think/hope was her name was the vet tech that took care of myla and talked with me from the begging till the end. She was so amazing answering all my questions to the best of her knowledge and giving me all the time i needed with all financial and clinical decisions. As a medical professional myself im always trying to look for the best of the best for my animals, family and myself and you defently have it here with VSH. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts!

WE HAD SUCH A SCARE TODAY!. Walking on the beach...me, Tim, Chris and Salty (my cockapoo). Salty steps on a bee...A BEE ON THE BEACH. Within 5 minutes she starts pooping and throwing up everything in her system. She wouldnt walk to go to the steps and up to the car. She just stood there vomiting and pooping. I scooped her up and we ran to the car. She was very limp. Eyes open and obviously alive, but limp. We rushed to the closest CVS. Tim ran inside to get benadryl while I held her and called Veterinary Specialty Hospital or VSH. Salty was becoming more limp and unresponsive by the minute. VSH confirmed that it was ok to give benadryl, asked some other questions about her state and said we should bring her in. We shoved the benadryl down her throat and rushed to VSH, fearing our baby girl was dying from anaphylactic shock. They took her in the back and put me in a room. Within ten minutes, they brought her to me. They said her vitals were normal and she was walking around wagging her tail. They said they could have the vet do a more thorough evaluation or I could just take her home FREE OF CHARGE!!! We brought her home, she drank a bowl of water and had Carmines meatballs and dog food for dinner. Now she is resting. :-) This is the place that took care of her when she was attacked by a pit bull 6 months ago and needed surgery and 30 stitches and she got the VERY BEST OF CARE WITH DR. RAYMOND, KELSEY, BONNIE AND ALL THE STAFF THAT TIME, AS WELL. (That one came with a large bill, though, which was expected). I CANT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT VETERINARY SPECIALTY HOSPITAL! Most places will try to get everything they can out of you. These wonderful people knew she would be fine after the benadryl and gave us the option to have a more thorough evaluation OR take her home. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!! I guess what happened is the benadryl kicked in, so they brought her to me to let ME see that she was back to normal, so I could decide whether or not she needed to be seen. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND VSH! THEY CARE DEEPLY FOR ANIMALS AND YOU CAN TRUST THEM NOT TO TAKE YOUR MONEY IF ITS NOT NECESSARY! Sorry this is not well written. I copied it from my fb post and then changed it up here and there.
