Wanted to get the opportunity to share my terrible and extremely frustrating experience at Banfield Pet Hospital. Not so long ago I went to Banfield Pet Hospital at Sawgrass in Sunrise Fl and at the beginning was convinced that they offered really good care, was a serious place and the pet plan could be a good opportunity to give my pets all the care that they needed at an affordable price. In fact, need to say that they really know how to involve you on their business. With time I started to realize that sadly this place is all about making as many clients as possible to a point that I finally could experience closer. As a member of the plan, it is included for your pet to be checked as many times as necessary whenever something is going wrong. My pet wasn’t feeling good in the morning, so I called and asked for an appointment as soon as possible, because I was worried and something wasn’t right. They said I could wait until 3:30pm when they had a spot and I would have an appointment or I could go as a walk in but I would probably have to wait so as to be seen. Immediately I opted for having an appointment, my pet wasn’t feeling good and I really didn’t need him to be waiting. I arrived 10 min prior to my appointment and found a really full waiting room. There were 3 doctors on duty. Took them one hour to put me inside a room, after that a nurse came and took the symptoms, temperature…. the routine….. after that, 40 min passed and nothing, no doctors, no front desk to give me an explanation…. I started seeing people that were there before and after me leaving, so I went to the front desk and asked about the doctor, by that time was 5:10pm, they told me he was at the phone and would come soon. I waited for 15 more minutes and finally quit and left having NO assistance. Never got a call from them or anything like that. Now I have no desires to return, but I’m stuck with the plan that consists of a contract of one year and as you can imagine, would cost me a fortune to get out of. So please, if you are thinking about getting into this whole idea, think twice and take this into consideration, that place has no respect to the client, extremely unprofessional, and really don’t be fuelled believing that they really care about your pet. They grew up so much and took a proportion at the business that an unsatisfied client really doesn’t matter, they are there to make numbers. MARCH 26/2012 Would like to say that I’m really satisfied and glad that after exposing the problem and explaining my frustration, I received a call from the Practice Manager at Banfield Pet Hospital willing to understand the situation and offering himself to take care of my problem! Hopefully this will be a fresh restart, and my pets would actually have nice health care! Thank you for your concern, was really appreciated!

I have brought all of my pets here for years. I currently have a rat terrier and a boxer that absolutely love coming here...meaning they willingly go with the nurses, no coaxing necessary. The nurses and doctors are always friendly and willing to help. And there is a high rate of turn-over but I dont feel as though my pets are being neglected. Someone on here had a complaint about the wellness plans--I just want to say that I could not afford to maintain my pets wellness without them. My rat terrier had a horrible tape worm last year, she was throwing up blood. ALL of her care, including x-rays were taken care of and I had my healthy girl back good as new within a couple of days. My pets get their shots once a year, they are not over-vaccinated. I opt out of going to the bi-yearly visit unless I notice something unusual. The only complaint that I have, is with the automatic billing for the wellness plans. Every year, without fail, I end up delinquent on my account. There is always a mysterious billing issue with my card. My card has not changed...and if there is an issue, I truly feel as though the company or my local hospital should contact me personally to let me know. Do NOT red-flag my account and have me pay $700+ dollars to bring my account current eight months after the fact. This is partially my fault since I didnt notice the automatic payment wasnt being made...but all of my bills are auto-drafted so $60 dollars wasnt going to raise my attention. THIS is my biggest problem...not the care, but the payment system.

I only put 1 star because it wouldnt let me put zero stars. This place is terrible. They really take advantage of you. When I first was talked into using them it was because they had a dog insurance plan that they convinced me would save me a lot of money and it sounded good. After 2 visits I was suspicious because I had a lot of small extra charges for things not covered. Then, when it was time for my dog to get neutered I was thinking this is where I will see the big saving that made my monthly payment worth it. Then they called me and I could tell it was a scam they were knew they were doing because they had this system where they went about telling me what all the cost would be and why. I knew I was robbed, but just to make sure I called 5 other Vets and asked how much it would cost to get him neutered and all 5 told me the total charges with all necessary medication before and after was less than what I was being charged with all my BIG DISCOUNTS from the insurance scam. Do not go to the place. On top of that, there is no personal relationship like Ive always had in the past with my old vets. This was my mistake, but you dont have to make it too.

BEST BANFIELD LOCATION OUT THERE I have no idea how this location has such bad reviews ....My pet is 12 years old and I have been going to Banfield hospitals since he was 7 weeks old. I have been to more than 10 locations in multiple states (FL, TX, GA) and this location is, by far, my favorite one. The entire staff is experienced and knowledgeable and friendly and thorough. I cant say enough good things about them. When I drop Pico off for dental cleanings, they contact me between every phase to let me know everything is going well. It makes the experience pleasant instead of scary and nerve-racking! I decided to write a review today because every time I Google their phone # I see all the awful reviews this location has and it breaks my heart.

I brought my Golden Retriever in to Banfield about two weeks ago for an annual review. We have just moved down here from North Carolina and I am still looking for my Rosies permanent veterinarian. I decided to give them a try. They are OK, but definitely not as good as my Vet up in North Carolina. For a simple checkup, they can do the job. But I dont think I would go with them for anything major or critical for my Rosie. I am writing this review and giving them an "average response" to let people know that if you are on a budget and just want simple work, they are just fine. If you are really picky and your dog needs extra care, I suggest you keep looking around. Again, I dont mean this as a bad review, just my opinion as best as I can give.
