My fiance is having pain that is suspected to be a hernia, and on June 12th saw Dr. Joseph Cherian at Heart and Family who said something definitely did not feel right upon exam and referred him for bloodwork and a CT scan, which he had done within a week of his exam with Dr. Cherian. We never heard anything after that. I attempted to contact the office numerous times to find out results, leaving numerous messages and had a very difficult time getting through. I finally did get to speak to an actual person on June 30th (after letting it ring for 10 minutes, no exaggeration) and the lady was quite brusque, saying A LETTER had been mailed June 23rd stating the bloodwork was normal (what about the CT scan?) I had to become brusque myself in order to get any sort of response about the CT, and she stated it was put as priority for a doctor to call and relay the CT results. Which ended up being a doctor just reading the report written by a different doctor (the report which was dictated the SAME DAY the CT was performed, which was June 17) saying nothing abnormal was seen. After my fiance described the pain he is STILL having, that doctor said it sounds like a hernia and then told my fiance he should just see a surgeon (we thought a surgeon was going to review the CT and then get back to us) and did not bother to refer him to anyone. Heart and Family did absolutely NOTHING but agree with our suspicions, and took our money (we paid cash as we unfortunately do not have health insurance at this time). Not once did they attempt to call us to relay results, or even to call and check on how he was doing, or offer any sort of temporary pain relief. I am disgusted and appalled at the lack of care and professionalism of this entire experience at this office. I work at an animal hospital, and we care for our patients much better than this office does its patients. At least we call with results and to check on our patients!!

I took my grandmother for her second appointment with Dr. Uphadyay. While he is wonderful and probably one of the most thorough and caring doctors that I have ever met the new office that they moved him into on the second floor is horrible. The lady who did the check in/check out process (Danielle Jay) was the rudest. Dr. Uphadyay told my grandmother that she was to schedule a CT Scan and another appointment with him 4 months after this current one. My grandmother relayed this information to Danielle during check out. Danielle came back at her in a very nasty tone stating "thats not what it says here, also you cant schedule a CT scan and an appointment at the same time because it takes a certain amount of time, usually 10 days to get the results back." My grandmother said ok, and again stated that Dr. Uphadyay said they both needed to be scheduled for 4 months from now, and that he wanted her to have the CT scan and then see him following it so that he could go over the results. Danielle at this time through the paper on the desk, crossed her arms and in a louder more nasty tone "Well how do you expect me to schedule an appointment with him if you need a CT scan! I already told you it takes time to get those results!" I now stepped after her being rude and now yelling at my 75 year old grandmother twice and told her that this is what the doctor told her to do and that if it takes 10 days to get CT scan results back then why couldnt she just schedule the CT scan and the follow up accordingly? She then slammed the paper on the desk once again, and proceeded to schedule the appointments. Absolutely disgusting customer service especially towards elderly patients in a medical office.

I would like to say first I initially read reviews from late 2015 and I certainly did not want to encounter the same treatment in the reviews. I decided to give them a try. I am very proud to say that had the most delightful time with the staff. Kim, Elisa and Jody(laughing out loud) displayed very professional yet personal experience for my hubby & I today. They say laughing is good for the soul indeed it is. Right off the bat Kim made me feel personally like I was being paid attention to(she knows exactly what I mean) Called me over personally to check me in and without delay got everything going for me. Not to mention I was late due to the weather, I was never scorned about it just was glad we arrived safely. Kim helped me complete my patient paperwork since I missed a few things, just a very concerned attitude all around. The two MAs that took us in were very kind but on their job, whose names I did not right down but were just wonderful. Dr.Evers was very concerned as well regular everyday person, good answers took time and detailed. Dr. Brooks just felt like the family member whose a Doctor and the whole family calls on. She has a good eye for things, a good quality.Checkout was the icing on the cake Jody(um still laughing) Im am speechless thank you. Almost the forgot the patient advocate thank you for being so kind.Overall awesome service really felt like" Family". Thank every one I encountered today!!!!!

Although some reviews were negative, I thought maybe my experience would be different. But the one star is telling. My earlier suspicion about the level of healthcare at this practice was undoubtedly confirmed after todays visit. I am disappointed with the way I was treated by P.A. Dyer. After I told her about my condition, she stated that I was neglected by Dr. Patel. I asked one question about my health but she seemed offended that I asked before the exam. She commented that she wasnt psychic. So I waited until after the exam to ask but she ignored me. Is this how they treat patients as if their concerns are of no consequence and they dont deserve a response?! Anyone in my position can understand that I felt disrespected and felt that I was just a number and not a patient. I felt so tired and sick that I didnt inform her of her unprofessionalism and how she made me feel. I made a decision in that moment to see a new doctor. This was the first time I saw Dyer and the last time that I see a doctor/PA at this office. The staff today was excellent from check in to check out; as well as Dr. Patels nurse from previous visits. Unfortunately, I can not say the same for the PA.

I have to say the doctors are not terrible but it is practically impossible to get anything taken care of on the phone. It is not unusual to be "in the que" for 30 minutes when you call to make an appointment. You can forget about getting a referral. Ive been trying for a week to have the heart and family health institute change a referral from one doctor to another. I saw Dr Ricketts last week and she gave me a referral to an ENT, I decided that I wanted to see a different ENT from who she referred me to and I have been trying unsuccessfully for a week to get this done. Im completely baffled as to why they have not done this and as to what I should do next. I have already called four times and just keep getting dumped in different voice mails. The results of my trying to get a revised referral from the Heart and Health Institute are unacceptable. I ended up driving to the office and refused to leave until I had the referral in my hands. I ended up spending over two hours to get a revised referral from this office. I will never set foot in their doors again.
