I have been a client of Weston Lakes Animal Hospital for about 8 months now and I absolutely love them and Dr. Markova in particular. In fact, when possible, I will only go there on the days when she will be available. The second time I was there for a check up with my kittens, I discovered that after one of the examinations, Dr. Markova held back my kitten in the hallway so that he could spend a couple minutes in her arms looking at the fish tank. At that moment, I went from liking her to loving her. I knew at that moment that she genuinely loves animals and takes pleasure in what she does. She is a joy to talk to, she never rushes you, she will often sit on the floor with your pet in the examination room, she will speak candidly about the best way to care for your pet and she never pressures you with a plethora of meds and testing (have you ever been to a veterinary office where you felt like the vets were sales people instead of vets? You will not experience that treatment here). Before they do any treatments or labs, they will bring you a form outlining the exact services and costs so you are not shocked by the bill at the end. When one of my kittens was gravely sick with a respiratory illness, Dr. Markova made me feel as if she could really understand and relate to my anxiety and concern (she even hugged me). She was also honest about the possible outcome (just for the record, he is fine now). They do not charge an office visit fee and I really appreciate this. I have brought in my kittens for the simplest of issues to the most serious of issues and I am always made to feel welcome. I brought both of my 6 month old kittens in to be neutered and it was a smooth and uncomplicated experience. Her support staff is intelligent and friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed and charming...you will often see their large and friendly "in house" cats patrolling the floors and often checking in to say hello to your pet in its cage. The examination rooms do not have that cold sterile feel with the formica table in the middle of the room. Instead, the lighting is soft, there are plants and comfy chairs for your animals to explore, there is no table in the middle so your animals have room to roam. My kittens never act terrified to be in there. The vets have no problem sitting on the floor with your pets to examine them and give them treatments. They also have the best office hours...7 days a week and open pretty late in the evenings. There is something very different about the business model of this veterinarian clinic and I find it refreshing and pleasing. As long as this place is open and Dr. Markova works there, I will be a forever client.

I called this clinic to get a second appointment because my first vet pretty much said that my dog was in critical condition and wouldnt last more than 2 weeks. I took in my 10 year old Chihuahua because he had some discomfort in his throat on Friday. The first vet recommended to take an X-ray and in sedating him, saw a swollen palette. He showed me the x-ray which had no signs of a foreign object or obstruction. He proceeded to tell me how this swollen palette is 100% bad and that he wouldnt last more than 2 weeks to euthanize him. Saturday afternoon he formed a very hard ball on the right side of his neck. Sunday, I took him into Weston Lakes Animal Hospital for a second opinion and Dr. Valdez which is the most amazing, very loving and dedicated to any animal that walks into the hospital, checked Milo out and gave me all the possibilities of what this lump could be. From thyroid cancer too an abscess she told me a 60% cancer /40% abscess and all the treatment procedures for each one and recommended a CT scan to see if it is cancer and where its coming from and how big it is. After the CT scan Dr. Valdez gave me the results and gave me her thoughts and concerns and suspected a thyroid cancer but stayed hopeful as we waited for the radiologist report in less than 24 hours, from the Ct scan it very much looked like a tumor with all its blood vessels as Dr. Valdez thoroughly explained it. The next day, Dr. Valdez called me for a follow up on little milo and the results of the scan which were, the radiologist ruled out a thyroid tumor but suspect an inflamed mandibular salivary gland or a cancer tumor which evened out Milos percentages at 50/50. Dr. V called in a prescription for antibiotics and remained him on his steroids and told me to do warm compressions three times a day to see if the swelling went down. Miraculously, with a day and a half of medication the swelling decreased significantly. Within, 3 days this lump became squashy and the infection had seemed to subside more and more everyday. Dr. Valdez follow up call on Wednesday, said that the squashyness is great news and that were at a 60% that its an inflamed gland and 40% cancer. Dr. Valdez is truly the most amazing vet Ive ever seen and genuinely wanted her patient to live a long happy life. She isnt to quick to diagnose, very gentle with our loved ones, takes her time with her paitents and gathers all information in order to diagnose. I trust her with Milo and all my babies. She saved his life because he was almost euthanized. Milo is so happy and playful and back to normal because of her and I cant thank her enough!! You truly are a hero!

My dogs needed follow up tests after (possibly) having been exposed to rat poison. I called at least 20 vets in the area to feel them out and get quotes. Not only did Weston Lakes Animal Hospital have the ability to run the blood work faster than any other vet that I called, they also had the best price! They gave me an accurate quote that matched the quote that they gave me when I arrived for my appointment. At the appointment, I was helped by Dr. Valdes and Hector, the vet-tech. Both of these individuals were top-notch. Dr. Valdes met with me for at least 30 minutes (and probably more) before drawing the blood of my two dogs. She did a very thorough physical examination, listened to their entire medical history, and even reviewed the ingredients in their dog food and dental care spray. Additionally, she was very knowledgeable regarding health problems associated with my dogs breed. She was able to point me towards a skin care product that would help clear up my Chinese Cresteds skin. All in all, she was FANTASTIC. As far as drawing the blood, they were very careful to make sure that both me and the doggies were comfortable. They did it in the exam room with me and allowed me to hold each of them during the process. They were comforting my dogs while the dogs were scared, just as much as I was comforting them. They called promptly with my results (within the hour), as they had promised. The doctor herself was the one who called me with each of their results. She was was upbeat, friendly, and willing to answer questions as when I was in the office. Finally, a few hours later, when I called the office back with some concerns, they promptly put me through to the doctor who was very happy to help and ease my worries. She encouraged me to call back if I had any more questions. In sum, this was a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an animal hospital. I know that if I have any issues arise with my dogs the rest of my time in Florida, this will be the place I take them.
