I used Athens OBGYN while pregnant with my son, as well as for my annuals before I got pregnant. We had a hard time getting pregnant, after 6 months of trying, Dr Herrin told us to keep trying, we were in our mid twenties and healthy. I got pregnant after a year and miscarried. On my return visit to Dr. Herrin, he told me that At least now we know you can get pregnant. I asked if we needed to test to find out why we were having a hard time and he said no. Another year, and 2 more miscarrages later we got pregnant with our son. At 8 weeks I awoke to a sharp pain and heavy bleeding so we went to ER at midnight, found out I had not miscarried and was told to go back to OB for an ultrasound. Saw Dr. Jarrett, who laughed when we told him we went to ER and said we wasted our time going there (not the best time to laugh at me)and when I asked why I was bleeding he said I dont know what to tell you, either its alive or its not. Once he left the room the nurse that was in there said that she had bleeding with her first and said that if anytime I just wanted to come in and get an ultrasound to make sure everything was okay to call her and come in (loved her). I bled, some days light, some days heavy, for 3 months straight going in once a week sometimes on my own just to hear the heartbeat. Dr. Murpty found out I was coming in and getting extra ultrasounds and went back and charged us for every visit. So we got a bill outside of our regular maternity coverage. When we asked the Ultrasound Tech if she could see what was causing the bleeding, she asked if a doctor had not talked to us and when I told her we werent getting any answers, she called Dr. Jarrett who said I dont know what you want me to tell you. So needless to say he is not my favorite person. Dr. Persons ended up delivering our son, who was great for delivery, but we did not see him in any of my previous visits, or Dr. Herrin who was supposed to be my primary. My son is now 5, and looking back I wish I had stood up for myself a little more, or at least changed offices, but that was naivety on my part. I have not set foot in that place since my son was born, even my follow up after labor was done by another office. I have lost my respect for their practice and will not go back.

My wife and I really like this practice. My wifes aunt, cousin, and aunt all have gone to this practice for multiple years to deliver children and each have never had any problems. Dr. Cline is a wonderful doctor and was with us every step of the way. There was one doctor, I do not know his name because I did not get to be at this appointment, but my wife stated he was very rude to her and demanded that she not see him again. She stated that he berated her for not taking medicine at the same time when she had only just started the medicine. Upon delivery of our child, we were hoping for Dr. Cline however, my wife had some complications with a breach baby and high liver enzyme levels, but we did wind up with getting a C-section and Dr. Murthy delivered and she was very friendly with answering all questions and concerns and did a wonderful job with handling our situation. Another added bonus, that my wife loved, was a lady at St. Marys who was assisting the anesthesiologist, I believe her name was Brittany )not sure) but my wife loved her to pieces and delivering with Athens OBGNY automatically puts you delivering at St. Marys. All in all, a good experience. We will be going back for another baby when that time comes and will be seeing Dr. Cline once again. Thank you all at Athens OBGYN.

I had an awesome experience with this group for the most part... When I went in for my 40 week check I saw Dr Cline. She scheduled me to be induced with Dr Jarrett (who was AMAZING, LOVED him). When we started the inducing we found out my daughter was breach so I had to have a C-section. When my daughter was born she had a perfectly round head showing she never dropped head down. When Dr Cline came in to check on me one day while I was in the hospital (i had to stay a total 4 days), she came in joking that she didnt do an ultrasound like she was suppose to at my 40 week checkup. I didnt find this funny and still dont. Thank god my daughter was healthy and there were no complications during my c-section, however had she done an ultrasound like she was suppose to do I would have had a c-section the same day. I will be going back when I get pregnant again but only to see Dr Jarrett. Since we know I will have to have a c-section again I can gurantee Dr Jarrett will be the only doctor I see and my delivery doctor as well. All of the other doctors were amazing as well. Very helpful, and made me feel important at each visit. I do not recomend Dr Cline. She was very unprofessional at my 40 week appoitment. I felt she rushed me through my appt and didnt have my best interest.

Became an OB patient in the middle of the second trimester of my first pregnancy. Only saw the three male physicians in the practice, despite being told that whoever was on call for delivery would be my delivering physician. Dr. Jarrett and Dr. Person were agreeable, knowledgeable and generally friendly; Dr. Herrin, however, was self-important, seemed to know very little about me; had very uninformed and/or generalized answers to any question; and during my last visit, was condescending, arrogant, and overall rude. The staff is generally friendly, but I often felt like a number instead of a person because of their high patient count (and I never saw the same nurse at any visit). Its hard to get a callback or get anyone on the phone. When asked if they would provide patient copy of records, I was told that they charge by the page - unheard of for a physicians office to charge for the first copy, especially one as large as this practice. I might recommend the two doctors mentioned favorably above for gynecology, but cant recommend the practice on the whole.

They changed my appointment time on me without notifying me of the change. When I arrived for my appointment I was told I missed it. They also tried to tell me they could tell if appointment times were changed and when I pulled up my original appointment time and confirmation call saying otherwise she brushed it off and told me "well thats not what the schedule says." They did work me in but the lady at the front desk was rude about it. Listening to them gossip and complain about coworkers and other patients while I was there had me ready to walk out. The overall lack of professionalism by the office staff was ridiculous. The silver lining to all of this was how amazing the nurse practitioner was who I had my appointment with. As a trauma survivor, going to the OBGYN is awful. The nurse practitioner was amazing, patient, trauma informed, and made me feel really comfortable during my exam.
