NO excuse for such negligence! The last time my wife was admitted to Georgia Regional was about 7 years ago. At that time she was forced to stay in a room with a patient who had repeatedly prostituted herself to male patients with the knowledge of the staff. One day, while I was in Florida, my wife called me. While on the phone with my wife she became the victim of a vicious rape attempt by a male patient who snuck his way into a "safe and secure zone for women" while the security guard and nurse on duty were both away from their observation posts. Two female patients came and stopped the rapist, but the nurse and security guard lied and covered up their negligence. I drove 650 miles in less than 7 hours and met with the Director of Georgia Regional. He immediately released my wife to my custody with an apology and the promise that such staff negligence and endangering of female patients would be addressed. On 11/30/16 my wife was at Georgia Regional again. Northside Hospital in Cherokee County had my wife in their ER for 72-hours of alcohol detoxification toward the goal of placing her somewhere in an Alcohol Treatment Program. Northside chose not to detoxify her of her anti-seizure medication (clonazepam - deemed by several of her doctors as the safest medication for her to take for the prevention of grand mal seizures). After the 72 hours of alcohol detoxification a Northside nurse called me and expressed her regret that they were sending my wife to the "grotesque aberration called Georgia Regional" presumably for a psychiatric evaluation prior to placement at an alcohol treatment facility. Georgia Regional knew she had not been detoxed of her seizure medication at Northside, yet they admitted her and then the attending physician signed my wifes release papers within just 30 hours!!! The excuse was they could not place her into a alcohol treatment facility because she was not detoxed of clonazepam. The physician never contacted her doctor or offered my wife a temporary and safe substitute medication for seizures so she could be detoxed in 36 hours and accepted into Sober Living America for alcohol treatment. I was never contacted by a GA Regional physician to inform me of my wifes treatment options, but rather in just 30 hours I was contacted by a nurse who told me that my wife would be released and taken to a homeless shelter unless I came to pick her up by the end of her first 36 hours at GA Regional. I said I was going to talk the Patient Rights Advocate and an Investigator at the Secretary of States Office to file a complaint, but the nurse only told my wife that I did not want her to come home. My wife felt abandoned by me to a system that was not offering to help her in any way. I was on the phone for the rest of the day and evening with Northside Administration, Sober Living America, the Patient Rights Advocate at Georgia Regional, and the Secretary of States Office. The next day I finally got to talk to my wife for the first time, and discovered that no one shared with her that I had been working on her behalf to see she got properly detoxed, that her pre-mature discharge had been rescinded, and that she was not going to a homeless shelter but rather to the program at Sober Living America. She had been told none of this!!! Shame on Georgia Regional for its negligence and discrimination, and especially for its violation of the Patients Bill of Rights posted on its own walls. And, shame on all the drug and alcohol treatment facilities in Georgia that discriminate against Epileptics, Diabetics, MS victims, and Panic Disorder sufferers who are safely and successfully prescribed clonazepam by their doctors for Seizures, or Diabetic and MS Neuropathy, or even just for Anxiety and Panic Attacks, so these people can have some decent quality of life. Shame on them all for summarily rejecting people who take clonazepam but who struggle FAR MORE painfully with severe alcoholism and who finally find the courage to reach out for help so they can stop hurting themselves and others.

Make no mistake... this is a place of sadistic medical experimentation and outright torture. It is hell on earth, by design. Youd be well advised to do everything within your power to ensure that neither you, nor anyone in your family is sent here, regardless of the reason. If so, contact an attorney and get your family member out immediately. Dont take "no" for an answer. Every minute you delay could cost your loved one dearly! There are legitimate psychiatric facilities for those experiencing real psychiatric crises; GRH is not among them! Rapes, assaults, beatings, poisonings, and orchestrated psychological abuse (mobbing, gaslighting, directed conversation, surreptitious druggings, etc.) are apparently routine for some of these so-called doctors and medical personnel. I was ceaselessly tormented, kept awake for 72+ hours, and provoked to no end (by staff!) Thanks to certain military training, it quickly became clear to me what was occurring, so I steadfastly refused to react. Once they figured out I wasnt going to participate in their "game", they had no choice but to let me go. I cant go into further detail here because I simply couldnt approach fully conveying my experience in this short review. But, based on my personal experience after being falsely sent here (but quite purposely, as was continually made clear to me), I can unequivocally state that this hospital is engaged in some type of highly unethical and outright criminal psychological research. Based on a growing number of identical reports coming from involuntary, short-term patients (many of whom are male veterans) at other US state psychiatric facilities since around 2003, it is most likely a federal, highly classified black program, perhaps along the lines of MK ULTRA, but far more insidious. My best guess is that they are designing/refining a stress-based protocol for "enhanced interrogations" that leaves no readily evident physical damage and is therefore, plausibly deniable. Because a person can be easily labeled "ill" or "crazy" once theyre sent to a psychiatric facility (legitimately or otherwise), this provides a built-in alibi and an almost perfect cover - just like MK ULTRA. After all, would you believe a "lunatic?" Its undoubtedly evil and cowardly, but admittedly shrewd and certainly not without precedent. I shudder to think about what long-term patients might be enduring, right now - especially those with no family and no way to contact the outside world or an attorney! I will readily back up the veracity of these statements under oath, and am willing to answer any and all questions or take as many polygraphs as desired regarding my short but horrific experience here in 2011. This hellhole has witnessed 115 so-called mysterious deaths in a period of 5 years, from 2002 to 2007. 115 people?!? Who knows how many more perfectly sane, healthy people have illegitimately died or been irrevocably mentally damaged in the decade since then?

Was assaulted by a staff member who was over 65" and 300lbs when i was a child. I was 14, maybe 100lbs. Punched me in the back of the head. Then picked up by the throat and slammed on a couch and then the floor. Then was kicked a couple of feet at a time, in the back (I have one kidney from an accident when i was 8) all the way down the hall and through a swinging set of doors. Placed in confinement. Because he was hearing noises coming from a room after lights out. There was noise being made but not in my room. They did an internal investigation, took pictures of the bruising that was obviously a handprint on my throat, etc. Then said that because the witnesses and my statements were too similar that we had to have gotten together and made up the whole thing. That i had another patient do the bruises on my throat and all intentionally to try and get the staff member fired. Unfortunately my mother was severely depressed at the time and didnt pursue any type of action from someone outside of the hospital. So im not even slightly surprised with everyone on here talking about a bunch of people who have died while there.
