Having had the opportunity to spend a great deal of time at Emeritus on 67th Street in Bradenton, I take great comfort knowing the high level of care and services provided to my paying clients and to Glen (our friend). (I work privately as a licensed CNA.) When Glen needed to be moved from Surrey Place, as they were shutting down the ALS part of the facility, my husband and I shopped around, looking for a place we felt would be suitable for Glen. He has special needs due to a leg amputation, and required specialized services. One of the most particular care issues we were searching for was a facility that provided graduated care, also referred to as aging-in-place. (A service that Emeritus provides.) Since Glen was forced to move due to Surrey’s closing we wanted a stable environment for him, where he would never have to move again. Being a 93 year old man, the move was very disruptive and confusing to him, so we wanted to make the transition as smooth as possible. The Emeritus staff showed every kindness getting Glen settled into his new home. Another feature that we really liked about the facility was the ability to choose what you want to eat at any given meal. With a new menu each day, the food choices are left up to the resident. Having choices makes a person feel in control of their lives, giving them the power to choose what they are going to eat. Emeritus strives to fulfill all the resident’s requests, even if it is not on the menu. We also really enjoy all the social events that Emeritus provides for the residents. We know many of the residents by name and observe how they all look forward to the get-togethers. The social events get the residents out of their rooms which make them feel more like a part of a community. This gives a resident a feeling of family rather than institutional living. Over all we are very happy with Emeritus and we really appreciate the great working relationship we have with the entire staff. We find the staff friendly, patient, caring and courteous, always ready to lend a helping hand. We would recommend Emeritus to anyone seeking kind and hands-on care for their loved ones. Sandy Glantz

My family and I looked at more than a dozen places in our quest to find a place for both my mother and father (90 and 92). After days of searching and being fearful that we would never find a place where would feel at ease uprooting them, we came across Emeritus at Bradenton. Diane, the director is a gem. She was the first person we met that actually cared about our situation. She explained everything from services, how the place will be paid, activities available, etc. etc. It was as if all the other places we visited were mediocre after meeting Diane. It is also key to realize that not all Emeritus facilities are created equal. This one is far and away the best I came across. The clincher was meeting the other staff members. All of them... the nurses, the marketing staff, maintenance, you name it... all of them are so caring. They even helped me convince my parents that this was for the best, as we went through that period of "Were not going!!!!". A fun week for sure... and one Im not sure I could have gotten through if not for the staffs support. After my parents were there for a week, my father said, "They are all so damn nice here". My mother is eating again and Emeritus staff is making sure she takes her meds. The best thing I can say is that Im 1000 miles away and have peace of mind that they are being well cared for and getting the help and support they need. John K

I would like to say the staff of Emeritus at Bradenton are wonderful. It is a very hard decesion to place a loved one with strangers to care for them. The staff at Emeritus at Bradenton really made us feel like family from the start with the Welcome from Kathy when we walked in with no one expecting us to come look around for our mom. Monique was so happy to show us around and set our mind at ease that they could help! MOnique helped us over come the scary stories that you hear with showing us how they help each and every resident who all have different needs. Debbie the head nurse made us feel very comfortable during the evaluation that moms needs could be meet and would continued to be monitored. Diane was very understadning and took her time with us with our contract that seemed like it took forever. ( A little over whelming) But we unstand you know and be eduacated on your contracually agreement. Mom has lived with Emeritus for a bit over a month and is very very happy there even though she really did not want to. Since being in her "new Home" as mom calls it JAn has had her involved in activities and mom is smiling again. We can not thank the staff there enough for making this a positive experience for e for our whole family.

My 90 year old father has been living here since Jan. 1, 2012. Although I had to move him in over the New Year weekend, the staff bent over backwards to help. Nursing has been awesome in helping dad recover and get back on his feet. Administration has been great in helping him with obtaining VA benefits etc. The residents are happy and there are always fun things happening here. My dad actually opted to stay here rather than return home. He loves his room and the care he receives. Oh, did I mention how good the food is? I eat lunch or dinner here with dad at least a couple times a week and it is consistantly good. Berniesgirl
