My son was at River District on 9/4/16 for shortness of breath and muscle spasms. First off, the room he was in was not what I would define as sanitary. The bottom of the walls looked worse than what you would find in a fast food restaurant kitchen. Staff had dropped cotton balls and wrappers on the floor next to the trash can (left them there). The RN tried to pull a blood draw, bent and broke the needle in his arm, stating he had tough skin. Another nurse had just pulled blood with no issue an hour prior (this one was really good, no reflection on her for the negativity within this review). The RN did not properly label the draw, which lead to the other nurse having to perform the draw again (which I am sure he will be billed for though was not necessary, just due to carelessness). He was supposed to be given a breathing treatment (never received, but sure will again be billed for), x-rays had to be taken twice (technician stated he had larger than normal lungs??? really??? I am sure another double charge). According to the on staff Doctor, his blood work showed he was low potassium and that he had some kind of lung infection, though his x-rays looked good. Told him he was prescribing him an antibiotic, steroid and inhaler. Everyone, including my son, was so frustrated at this point that we got the discharge paperwork and left. According to the discharge paperwork, he had bronchitis. He was not exhibiting signs of bronchitis, but that was the diagnosis, so we filled his prescriptions in the morning, which he immediately took. By 9:00pm 9/5/16, he was in St. Johns Macomb for the same issues, no improvement, symptoms considerably worse. They confirmed that he did NOT have bronchitis, he was diagnosed with hypoglycemia / borderline diabetic. As St. Johns Macomb found test results that came back not being the issue, they continued to dig instead of using the "oh, easy thing to say it is because they are not medical professionals and wont know any better". I cannot wait until the bills start rolling in and I get to see how many false charges he is billed for due to the inadequate performance of the staff at River District. Was glad to see that the Patient Relations number is posted within these reviews, but found it interesting if you go to their website it is not easy to locate. Tells me that calling the number without going public will not change anything at River District. Will not return to River District unless it is a true life or death circumstance. Have cancelled testing that was supposed to be completed there and rescheduled with McClaren.

Without going into specifics (I live in the area), I know a neighbor that has 3 separate issues they could have sued for (including accidental brain damage, and the death of a family member). Wait times are horrendous, and if you need ice while waiting you better ask for it because chances are youre not getting it. Theyll take any patient and give them the full works even if you insist that you dont have insurance... I was rescheduled fora surgery from noon to 6AM, and informed the same day (this affects when you can & cant eat). I was recently in a car accident and not only did they fail to record what procedures they did as follow up, but they didnt record what the extent of the injuries were. To make matters worse I had to wait 2 hours for pain medicine. Want to know the Icing on the cake though? Since I already didnt trust the hospital I had my broken appendage Re-X-rayed and it turns out it "Wasnt perfectly aligned" as I was original told. Looks like Ill be getting a cast. Wish I could have gone to Port Huron Hospital, but then again I was spewing blood from my leg...

I was sent for a stat venous Doppler on my leg today I was told to be there at noon I was there I sat there for a half an hour went to desk asked them what was the problem they said they were finishing up and another person was coming back from lunch. I sat back down waited another 30 minutes went back up to desk they called to the back and they said what venous Doppler the paperwork was sitting on there desk for an hour and never looked. They came and took me back there after an hour waiting then let an intern do the test who didnt know what she was doing. I will not go back to River district hospital for tests, they obviously are just sitting back there doing nothing and when I came out the waiting room was loaded because of their laziness. Thanks for the wait. Someone could be seriously be in trouble there but they have no conscience.

If youre in a serious emergency you might as well drive to Detroit and go to the real St. Johns. I sat with a triple fractured jaw, 3 shattered teeth and spitting out blood from my severed tongue for nearly 4 hours before I was finally transferred to Detroit. In that time they managed to use about 30 minutes of that time to misplace an IV in my arm which led to severe swelling when the saline finally began to flow after fidgeting with it over and over again. And another 30 minutes to take a CT scan and some xrays each of which had to be repeated multiple times because the operator was unsure what they were doing. The majority of my time was spent in an empty hospital room drooling pools of blood into a cup and listening to the nurses gossip just around the corner. Absolutely ridiculous.

Horrible experience! I have never felt so disappointed in our health care system and providers. The visit involved a visit with my 85 year old mother who was immobile and in extreme pain. Because of her age and overall health condition I was told there was nothing that could be done thanks to Obama care and this is what our health care system has come to. I am not aware of all the laws, which I need to get informed, but I do know there is a universal law of humanity and compassion that was not demonstrated in the least. Seriously, my animals at the vet have had far better treatment. There was 2 nurses in the end who were kind and helpful, thank you for your choice to remain dedicated to your patients. This is not the hospital it was a few years ago.

My husband came here for an x-ray when he thought he had a broken rib. They told him that his rib was not broken, but he probably pulled a muscle. They sent him home with Valium and told him to baby his side for a few weeks. The reality of it...when his rib, popped, it was actually cancer braking through, but no one saw it in the x-ray...He died a month later. Thanks River District, you could have possibly saved my husbands life if someone took the time to really look at the x-ray.

This has got to be the worst hospital I have ever seen and been to. They will set you up appointments extremely early in the morning, only to send you home because theyre under staffed. No one in the facility has any motivation to anything above half speed. I wouldnt take a worst enemy here to die...
