Fruitvale Optometry is conveniently located near public transportation hubs, making it easily accessible. The office is situated in the Fruitvale Plaza, just 10 steps away from the Fruitvale Bart Station and the Fruitvale AC transit transfer point to other buses. However, parking can be a challenge as it is limited to street parking.
The medical facility specializes in optometry and offers a range of eye care services. The staff is described as friendly and the atmosphere is considered better than other places in and around East Oakland. The office carries various brands and designers of glasses to choose from.
Patients have noted the high level of expertise demonstrated by Dr. Irani. He is praised for his thorough explanations and state-of-the-art techniques. He takes the time to answer questions and concerns in an easily understandable manner.
The pricing for glasses is considered reasonable and affordable, especially for those on a fixed income. For example, the cost of progressive lenses with transition was around $30.00 to $40.00 less than what was offered at Walmart.
The facility accepts a variety of insurance plans, including Anthem Blue Cross and Alameda Alliance, making it a viable option for a wide range of patients.
The location is near various eateries and coffee shops. On certain days, a Farmers Market is also held in the Plaza, adding to the convenience of the location.

My visit on June 16, 2017 was the same level of treatment I had in 2009. I recently came back to Dr. Payam Z. Irani a couple of months ago. My insurance was Anthem Blue Cross, which caused me to leave, and now I am with Alameda Alliance. I saw his name as a provider for Alameda Alliance I was so happy. My first thought was, " he was so smart, he found things that other Optometrist have missed. I just remember his level of knowledge and how he explained to what was going on with my eyes. I also want to add, his prices for glasses are more affordable than Walmart. I priced progressive with transition lenses $310.00 that was with me having my own frames. His price was around $30.00 to $40.00 less. It may not seem like a lot but I am on a fixed income so it was very reasonable and affordable. What is also different you have friendly staff the atmosphere is so much better than other places I have been In and around East Oakland. His office carries various brands and designers of glasses to choose from. The location is public transportation friendly, his office is directly in the Fruitvale Plaza 10 steps away from Fruitvale Bart Station and Fruitvale AC transit transfer point to other buses. The down side is, the parking if you drive, its on street parking, "but who needs to drive when you can Bart or Bus to his office. His location is near a lot of places you can sit and eat or if you just want to sit and have a cup of coffee. Certain days their is a Farmers Market in the Plaza. Excellent location. I am just happy Dr. Irani is still there after 14 years at this location. I cant express how much anyone would benefit to go to a Optometrist that can explain so you understand, how to care for your eyes and get a pair of glasses that are reasonable and affordable, I am sure he takes other insurances than mentioned above..I Highly Recommend Fruitvale Optometry.

Dr Irani continually demonstrates state of the art technique coupled with an engaging unhurried manner... always takes time to answer questions and concerns in a manner that is easily understandable. He is quite clearly the best optometrist Ive ever been to and I have been to a number of them over the years. In addition, staff is terrific... a real pleasure to deal with. This is your place. Dont go anywhere else.

Very helpful, very thorough Doctor and staff. I have a somewhat complicated contact lens prescription, needing to balance near vision and far vision. The Doctor made a recommendation to try a different brand of lens and I left the office seeing much better.
