Discovery Place is Amazing! Our 30 year old son spent 30 days in Discovery Place and then 30 days in extended care. This was his fourth admission into a facility for alcoholism. Its very hard to write this because I dont know where to begin. First, the call to Nick (Discovery admissions) from our daughter-in-law, who is a school teacher and a mother of three. That phone call changed our familys LIFE. Next, it is not for profit, at that point I said there is a God, we could purchase a home on what we spent on other treatments. Like any parent, grandparent, mother-in-law, you make it work, I would give my life for our son and now Discovery Place. Last, this organization, this place, is tranquil, run by men that have lived though the hell that our son has and have the human tools to assist in recovery. This is not a free facility, you pay, but, it is worth more than any money you will ever spend on a loved one... The campus dog describes Discovery place, his name is Serenity. Every weekend our two year old grandson could not wait to visit Serenity, very old black dog that just sits around.. We have our son back, but deeply miss our weekends at Discovery Place!

Discovery Place is a genuinely loving enviornment where mens struggles are not condemned, but realized, understood, and worked on. Its the first place i had ever been that didnt put up with my craziness, but also didnt label me as "cant get right" and send me up the street somewhere... I was placed in the hands of men that had been through what i had been through, seen what i had seen, and felt what i had felt throughout the last 10 years of the addiction fueled tragedy I called my life. Unaware of how bad it really was, being around those men that talked so freely and honsestly about there own struggles helped me see and feel the true nature of my powerlessness. More importantly it gave me a curious hope to a possible solution. That curious hope, with the help of those same men and many others developed into a strong desire to do the things that these men suggested. That work.. That self searching, digging deep, beautifully uncomfortable work has granted me a deep breath of freedom today, and a beautiful life. Discovery Place did more than save my life, it gave me the tools and introduced me to a way of living that allows me to live a life.

Having tried to get sober many times before my arrival at Discovery Place, I was both skeptical and afraid at the thought of trying to start on the path again. I arrived broken and displaced to the open arms and smiling faces of the staff as well as the fellow guests. I felt no pressure to make a miraculous transformation overnight, was allowed to be exactly where I was mentally, spiritually, and emotionally and yet all the while was kept within healthy structure and boundaries. Discovery Place introduced me to the program of recovery I would soon apply to my life and allowed me to practice its principles within a safe and spiritually nurturing environment. It has been said that Discovery Place gets people sober while the program of recovery found in the rooms keeps people sober and I can attest to this sentiment first hand. I will forever be indebted to Discovery Place for helping me learn how to be a man of God and man of action.

The one thing I love about Discovery Place is its focus on the solution, not the problem. Discovery Place radically changed my perspective on the world, and I think this is why Ive been able to stay sober now for 11 months and 2 days. It was a relief not to have a bunch of doctors and therapists prodding me with questions. The staff are all in recovery without letters next to their name, and they knew how to relate with me. I felt like they understood, so I was able to open up to them and get honest. I would recommend this to any man with some kind of addiction. Bob Overton, my guide while I was there, is an incredible person. His presence alone brings a peace to the facility that I cannot explain.

Its been almost a year since our son hit bottom and called us to pick him up off the streets of Raleigh NC. We did a lot of research to find him a treatment facility that had a decent recovery rate, was a guys only facility and one we could financially afford. He stayed 30 days at DP and then an additional 30 days in their next step program. After four years of addiction he is now clean. He has a great job and works hard. He has his license back and was able to buy his own car. He still is working on the thinking that goes along with being an recovering addict, that will always be there. Its additional peace of mind that he can go back for a week if he ever feels he needs to.

I arrived at Discovery Place a broken individual, with no concept of the reality of the situation caused by my drinking. The staff, welcomed me with open arms as a brother, and helped me to understand that what I had done was not who I am. They helped me to pick up the pieces of my life and rebuild it to something better than what I could have imagined. The lessons learned, during my stay, helped me to rebuild the relationship with my family and taught me that I can survive any hardship without having to resort to drugs and alcohol. I have a much better solution today, one that really works. Because of Discovery Place, I am now a part of life instead apart from it.

I did not personally receive treatment at this facility, a family member did. This man has been an addict for 19 years, and after 28 days at Discovery Place he wants to get well. He is currently seeking long term recovery and focusing on the man that he once was without drugs. This is an amazing accomplishment and our family would recommend this establishment to any person suffering from addiction, to whatever it may be. Thank you so very much Discovery Place for returning our loved one to how he once was. :-)

This place saved my life! If you or someone you care about has a drug/alcohol addiction I strongly encourage you to check the place out near Nashville TN. Everyone treats you like family and you will come away loved and clean. I love this place, its very affordable and they will get to root of the reasons you numb your yourself. The staff are also recovering addicts and need just as much support as the new guy that comes in with their life in shambles. Truly a blessing! Thanks so much DP

My mom dropped me off at Discovery Place. I didnt really know what was going on and was close to dying from drug abuse. My whole motivation for staying was to get my girlfriend and family back, but somewhere in my first 30 days here, something changed. I found a true calling by giving back to the new Discovery Place guests. Today, I work at Discovery Place. My life is better than it has ever been and continues to get better. This is the place to go for any guy looking to get sober.
