If it were possible to leave negative stars I would. Mostly due to the staff. The front desk guy is quite possibly the rudest human I have met in a long time. I drove quite a distance to visit a friend who was in the hospital. I was wrong to assume this hospital had typical patient visiting hours. They dont start until 11a. Odd, but ok, I should have looked it up. Still, instead of politely saying that to me, the gentleman at the front desk snorted sarcastically and said: " well, who do you want to visit?" I gave him the room and instead of just saying, "sorry, youll have to wait a bit", he proceeded to laugh and roll his eyes. I mentioned that I had some items for the patient and could they perhaps be delivered to the patient room. Again, it was as though Id asked for a pint of his blood. Who do you think is going to deliver it?", he replied snidely. Well, an orderly perhaps? Heaven forbid you show some courtesy and helpfulness to people when they are incapacitated in the hospital, and they have visitors/family on premises. Good grief. Where is the humanity. He then directed me to a hospital phone after rattling off a series of digits I was just supposed to remember. I suppose it would be too hard for him to lift the receiver on the phone sitting right in front of him to call up to the floor. This person should be fired. However, I suspect he may be the only person willing to work at this place. The poor patients! This place seems understaffed and underserved by decent people who care an lick about being helpful to people.

Its one of the WORST hospital on the South Side of Chicago. This hospital is NOT equipped to handle critical case i.e. strokes or anything of that nature. My grandmother had two strokes there in a matter of three days and they couldnt give her an MRI to even rule it out. They determined she had two strokes because of visual her "symptoms". Not ONCE did they give her any medications to help her. They had her on the saline IV which is used to prevent the body from dehydrating. Again, DONT send your love one in critical condition there. Its a patch up hospital ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Youve been WARNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I could give this hospital 10 stars, I would. Everyone was so pleasant, from the security who not only told me where registration was he showed me. The staff here went above and beyond. I had a SDS ( Same Day Surgery),,the nurses there is so loving and caring, and everyone was so professional and compassionate. I had never experienced such great care. A nurse called me a week later to see how things were going. Never had that been done before. I appreciate the care I received here. And this hospital is small, but the hearts of their staff are HUGE! Thank each of you for going above and beyond.

I just called the emergency room to see if it was really crowded some mexican man who said he was a security guard was so disrespectful he said why do you want to know and hung up i called back they were laughing and joking on the phone and the background taking turns playing on the phone some African American women got on the phone and was just as rude my question is why are they still open and Im on my way up there to record the ignorance cause they are they just had a out rages law suit to cause them to close one of there floors I see why where is corporate?????

i work for a hospital. and never seen anything like this. short staff and nurses not checking on patient all day. my daughter in the hospital and i was there 5 hour and no nurse came into room . she call me 3 hours after i left and she had to keep ring bell for nurse to come in and when she did she said she peek in . what is that ? my daughter was having chess pain. why is the hospital open. poorly ran.

Some doctors are good some of the nurses are nasty the phlebotomist are really good and all the receptionist are nice the wait times are ridiculous. Sometimes ambulance patients have to wait. I was transferred by ambulance whine having a miscarriage and I had to wait in the waiting area then they couldnt do anything so I had to wait for hours until they transferred me

Im sitting here right now, on my computer, using the free Wi-Fi, just to say...this place is the worst. Mismanaged. Understaffed. Horrible. Ive been sitting here for 5 hours. Thank goodness for Netflix. Heroes: Season 1...LETS GO!! It sucks here. South Shore Hospital...you suck. The Wi-Fi is great though.

Could be better but it isnt. When I was younger i loved the care they provided, I guess times a changing. They almost kilt me and I believe they kilt my vein in my left hand, also Dr kicked me out because I wanted a second opinion.

once you call 911 on the hospital they are on your way. The doctors, nurses, janitors are all kind and the doctors are easy to trust. They do theyre jobs by giving you perscriptions and they help you with all the services you need.

We came from Trinity Hospital because the serves there was so horrible and never got seen. The staff here is so friendly and nice. We were seen right away and received the help we needed. Thank you Souh Shore Hospital!
