I have been to a fair share of bad dentists. Ones who dont numb the gums before the injections; ones who rush the process before numbing agents kick in; ones who say you have cavities when a 2nd opinion proves them wrong; and ones who say you need a root canal when you dont. Its really heart breaking when some of these careless and painful actions were done on my kids, none the less. Ive tried a total of 5 dentists for my family since I moved out here and was unhappy with all of them. Until I met Hornyack. If you want a more informative review, continue reading to hear just one of my experiences: 6 Months ago I went to a dentist to fill a cavity. He botched it. For the next 3 months I was in constant pain. I then went to another dentist (name?) who said I most likely needed a root canal because the filling was too close to the nerve to fix. When he found out I didnt have insurance, he THEN suggested I just had a sensitive tooth and gave me extra flouride to help rebuild enamel and see how it goes. I wanted a 3rd opinion, and found Dr. Hornyack. Hornyack explained what was wrong with the filling (it was put on wrong) and how it was agitating the nerve - including the presence of an air pocket under the filling. He said it needed replaced. I asked if it was too close to the nerve, he said, "Not at all." During that same appointment he repaired the filling and sent me on my way - never suggesting a root canal. Each week my tooth got better and better. Within 2 weeks I was able to chew food on that side of my mouth again, and I have been 100% pain free for a good 10 or so days now. He numbs the gums thoroughly with the pink Q-tip before using numbing injections . Then, he injects very slowly so you dont feel the needle AT ALL, and then he patiently waits a good 10 - 15 minutes to make sure it is fully in effect before working on the tooth. While you wait, he and his assistant keeps things light hearted, humorous, and social. His assistant (Veronica, I believe) was a constant friendly sit-with-you type of person from start to finish. I asked if he treats children. He does - although their standard policy is that parents are not allowed in the back with the kids. I asked if he would waive that rule for me because I never let me kids out of my site like that (given previous bad experiences), and he said that he would. I will take him up on that. I will absolutely return and try him again. If you dont have insurance, just check his pricing. I felt they were a little on the expensive side, but for me it was worth it. Lastly, he is usually booked for 6 weeks out UNLESS you have pain - then he will squeeze you in sooner (within a day or two) - even for a new patient. :)

Me and my daughters were seen at this office at couple of times now and each time has been wonderful experience. I dont write much reviews but at this last visit for my daughters I felt compelled to do so. Not only were the hygienist unbelievably kind and courteous with my girls but they were extremely patient with them as well. My girls had a blast at their visit.... the hygienist talk about things the girls were interested in (like mermaids!!). The dentist, himself, did awesome with them as well (they are 3 yrs old). He even brought in a dancing bear so they way my girls would feel more comfortable. He was very informative with me about some treatment they needed which was nice. The whole office from the front staff to the dentists has been a great experience each time we have been in. Thanks Fox Valley Dental for such wonderful friendly service!

Used to be good, they have alot of new employees that are not doing their job as well as the old ones, resulting in a higher bill than quoted and the new hygienist that was so rude to my 12 year old that she now doesnt want to go to the dentist and she used to not mind it at all, horrible bedside manner from the new hygienist. Needless to say my family will NEVER come here again! And its a shame because we really liked the dentist, but it was the last straw when I emailed my concerns to the dentist and she couldnt bother to call me back so she had the incompetent workers at the front desk call me back when their incompetence was the problem in the first place. Not professional at all. Its a shame because we loved the dentists all the years we have been going there, the new staff is the problem

Dr. Tami Zuck was very rude and unprofessional during my dental visit. She appeared to be in a very foul mood, and only wanted to argue with everything I said. Even though she may not have agreed with me stating that I had a tooth ache, she should have still examined me to make sure that my teeth were okay. Patients do not want to hear that a doctor is so much smarter just because they have more schooling. They want to be treated for dental care. Either Dr. Zuck has a big ego, or she is very insecure with herself. Maybe Dr. Zuck should take a course in "Bed side manners.

Since when is it a pleasure to go to the dentist? Since I started going to Fox Valley Dental Associates!!! My semi annual visit today was no different. I was greeted by something new in that I checked myself in at the computer at the reception desk with the self guided entrance form indicating any changes in my history since my last visit. From the beginning to the end, my appointment was pleasant thanks to the complete staff at Fox Valley Dental Associates of Crystal Lake, LLC. A truly wonderful group of people! Thanks.

We love Dr. Hornyak and staff! Our kids have moved out of state, but whenever theyre here they want us to make an appointment for them rather than find a new dentist where they live. Hes now more like a family friend than dentist. We appreciate his honesty, attentiveness and thorough consultations. The hygienists are great and everyone there is very accommodating. We have recommended several patients and will always continue to do so.

Love Dr. Hornyak. He is the only dentist I trust to take care of my teeth. He takes his time and makes sure it is done right. He is great with my family and children, too.
