My expereince with this office was not a positive experience. I brought my 2 daughters in for cleanings and a general exam. We were new to this office. I provided my insurance information prior to visit, then even called to confirm 2 days in advance to confirm the visit would be covered under my plan. I was assured it was. An assistant came out to greet me before taking the girls back for their exam and explained they would do a cleaning and also some x-rays. That seemed to me to be very basic. After the exam I was called back to find out my my oldest daughter had multiple cavities and even needed a root canal. He explained he uses "laughing gas" and how safe it would be. I was a little shocked and overwhelmed with his treatment plan. When I was checking out of the office I received the printout of services charged to my insurance company. Between the two girls more than $700 was billed! My portion was $0 at the time. Needless to say, my insurance company did not cover everything. I also received a second opinion and my daughter did not need a root canal and the other cavities were not severe and needed to be monitored since they were her baby teeth. She also did just fine with no "laughing gas". I would not suggest using this dentist. It is very aggressive in my opinion and expensive even if you have great insurance as I did. I now owe $300 to this office that my insurance did not cover. There is alot more to this story, but I suggest before using this office you get in writing everything they will do and run it through your insurance prior to service, especially for a new patient. Also, get a second opinion before agreeing to their services.

I am pleased to have the opportunity to endorse Kids First Pediatric Dentistry. As a child, my experience going to the dentist was not a good one. So, as a parent, it has always been of high importance to me that my children have a better and more positive experience. Eight years ago our family relocated to the Chicago area and my research took me to Kids First Pediatric Dentistry. Walking in the door we were greeted by a welcoming, friendly and professional staff. Meeting Dr. Matt was a pleasure and exceeded any expectation. Dr. Matt is very friendly, knowledgeable and professional, yet has the humor, kindness and compassion necessary in creating an awesome experience for a child at the dentist! As a parent, I appreciate the confidence I have in Dr. Matt, as well as his staff, for preventative care or as my child undergoes a procedure. Eight years later, my children ask me when they can go back to see Dr. Matt! Throughout our eight year relationship, our family has grown through international adoption. The first trip to the dentist for older children who have never had the opportunity for dental care can be an anxious one. I am forever grateful to Dr. Matt and his staff for the excellent care, kindness, understanding and patience in any circumstance. We have also had the opportunity to meet and work with Dr. Patel who is also awesome! It has been a pleasure to watch the Kids First Pediatric Dentistry family grow and expand to their new location, which is very beautiful and welcoming! Thank you for everything!

I feel compelled to write this review as my son has a very big fear of having a filling done. He is 7 years old and has 2 cavities that need to be filled. We tried at my dentist whom I have been seeing for 25 years, but my dentist does not specialize in pediatric dentistry. So we were referred to Dr. Matt so that my son could have his dental work completed. We went to our appointment and almost felt that my son would not be able to have his dental work completed during that appointment time as he was very scared and did not want to have the “silly mask” over his nose (this was for the Nitrous oxide). Anyway it looked like we were going to have to reschedule my sons appoint and possibly have his dental work done at a hospital with anesthesia (I did not want to have his dental work done this way if possible). Dr. Matt and his assistants spoke with my son for 30 minutes just to get him to sit in the chair and to put the “silly mask” over his nose. Once they were able to get him to do this everything went very smoothly. Dr. Matt and his staff are so professional and have great compassion toward their patients. I really feel that the children sense this as well. It was almost amazing to watch my son relax and become comfortable with having dental work done. I am sooo happy with Dr. Matt and his staff, and my son said that nothing hurt and he isn’t worried if he ever needs more dental work done again. So I highly recommend Dr. Matt to anyone looking for a pediatric dentist.

IMPRESSED!!!!!!! I cant believe I have just now found Kids First and Dr. Karsten. My 6 yr old daughter needed some fillings and was so terrified that our family dentist referred us to a pediatric specialist. After reading reviews and being referred by a coworker, we scheduled a visit. My child just had one out of 4 services she will need to take care of her cavities. On both visits to the office, we have received consistantly exceptional service. The staff are all down to earth, Dr. Karsten is very kind and relates well to the kids, and to me, as a parent. Im just so happy and impressed with them. There were no surprises when it came to treatment plan or cost. All members of the staff are familiar with insurance, which is a plus. My daughter did very well and really likes her new dentist. The waiting room is filled with toys and kids movies. Even the doorknobs on the doors have been lowered to a childs level. Talk about kids first!!! One other note, dont be surprised that you cannot join your child during their treatment. Be suprised that your child will go willingly without you-thats seriously how awesome the staff is! My shy daughter at first was a little nervous but she held the assistants hand and went willingly. On our 2nd visit, she didnt even give it a second thought! Kids First = True definition of a family practice. Too bad they dont see adults, I would be a patient myself :)

THE BEST PEDIATRIC DENTIST EVER! If you are looking for a dentist who will put your child at ease and make going to the dentist fun, then you will want to go to Kids First. I was referred to Dr. Karstens office a year ago after learning that my oldest son needed a filling. Dr. Karsten and his team were amazing! From the moment I signed my son in until we left, I was in awe! I quickly brought my other children and now they all beg to go to Kids First, even when they dont need a check up. I cant recommend Dr. Karsten highly enough. Ive been a Speech Language Pathologist for over 11 years and have worked with many professionals. None have come close to matching Dr. Karstens professionalism, kindness, skill, and his ability to instantly establish rapport with both children and parents. I tell everyone I know to bring their children to see him. Your child will think Dr. Karsten is the best guy in the world and will be happy to go to the dentist. I promise! I trust him implicitly and know he truly cares about my children and all the children he sees. I cannot recommend him highly enough. Take your child to see him today and both of you will be happy! Kids come out of his office smiling and giving Dr. Karsten high fives. What could be better?
