I took my dog here for several years and didnt have any problems . . . then the practice went to hell. First, the best vet in the practice left becuase the other vets she ran the practice with wanted to take too many shortcuts and didnt want to provide the level of customer service our pets deserved. The current vets are way more interested in making a few extra $$$ than thay are in giving our loved ones the time and care they deserve. On a similar note, dont go there expecting to see or speak with the actual vetrinarians. Most of the time when you arrive a vet tech. comes out to take your pet into the back (where they are supposedly checked by an actual vet) and then returns your pet to you in the waiting room with the diagnosis from the vet. Would you let the nurse take your sick child in another room to see a doctor without the doctor talking to you? I sure wouldnt. Also, dont you think it is important for a vet to get information about the dogs recent activities and behavior when making a diagnosis? Just how exactly do they think this can be done without speaking with the pets owner? Finally, dont plan on being able to get in to see them when your dog is really sick. They are always way too busy to see your pet or to even give you some idea of what to do until you can get in to see them. I was very saddened by the decline in care and service this vetrinary practice provided after Dr. Rogge left.

While I am sure "cheaper" vet care can be found in the area, it certainly wont be the excellent care Best Friends Animal Hospital provides. I cannot say enough positive things about Best Friends Animal Hospital. They treat our dogs like their very own. All of the doctors we have see are patient, kind and very attentive to our dogs, and to us. They take time to answer all of your questions, make sure you know all the options available and truly show concern for not only the animals, but the families as well. Our dog was scheduled to have a second surgery at the specialty vet office and we were very unsure of putting our dog through that again. I called Best Friends later in the day on a Friday. Dr. Rauch called me back after hours and spent more that 30 minutes on the phone with me. Her guidance helped us to make a more informed decision that we were very comfortable with. If we ever have to call with any type of question, all of the staff is professional, take detailed notes, ask plenty of questions and confer with the doctor as soon as possible. I have never had to wait long for a return call, and have never felt that I have bothered anyone with what might seem to be a silly question. We are very lucky to have found such wonderful vet care.

I wish I could give them zero stars. My poor dog, was brought here for what we thought was a UTI. They ran a urine analysis and used the exact words "It is pretty nasty and there is blood in her urine" and then gave us antibiotics. Before we even finished the first round, she was right back to the where she was (urinating several times & whining when she peed). My husband returned and they ran another urine analysis, only to find yet again there was blood in her urine, gave us the EXACT same antibiotics. She seemed better after finishing them and we headed to visit my parents 12 hours away, as soon as we got here she started peeing what looked to be 95% blood. Thankfully my parents had a vet and they got her in immediately and ran some X-rays and found bladder stones, several and large. She had to go into surgery to get them removed. Had they done something other than shoving antibiotics after antibiotics down her throat maybe they would have caught them before.. I will NEVER recommend this vet to anyone or be returning.

Ive been taking my dogs to Best Friends for many years. Simple stuff like vaccinations and flea/tick medicine, to complicated stuff like brain tumors and cancer. Ive spent a lot of time with Drs Rauch, Scarbeck and now Dr. Orsini, and all the techs. They are all extremely competent, but more than that they are caring and understand the stress that comes with being a dog-Dad. They explain things thoroughly, give options, and discuss possible outcomes. If the condition is serious enough to warrant a specialist, they have an excellent relationship with the staff at Veterinary Specialties in Buffalo Grove, as well as Animal Emergency in Grayslake, and will assist in transferring care there if needed. I trust these folks, and have no hesitation in recommending them.

I have been bringing my animals to Best Friends Animal Hospital since 2000. I would never go anywhere else. The staff is nurturing, supportive, and understands my pets needs. They are a very compassionate practice that cares deeply and I trust them with all my pets needs. The doctors and staff listen to my questions and concerns and answer all of my questions with care, concern, and empathy. Best Friends is an amazing practice for my beloved animals and they treat them as if they were their own. I am so thankful and appreciative for everything Best Friends has done for me and my family.

Every Time I Take my dog there they are generous to work with my schedule and get my animals in right away. They are always show compassion for me and my animals needs. They offer a lot of services that other hospitals dont, and are very fair on price. I treat my animal as a member of our family and expect the best for all of my family. Best Friends are the only ones who offer the best. If you want a backyard doctor then take yours elsewhere! Thank you Best Friends!

We have been using Best Friends Animal Hospital for nearly 6 years now for our Newfoundland Jack. The doctors and staff truly care about the pets and the families!! Jack has had a series of issues from melanoma to a sensitive stomach and joint pain. We received wonderful care for all of the issues and truly believe that Jack is still with us at 10 1/2 because of the excellent care of Best Friends Animal Hospital!

I have been taking my Beagle here since 2006. Very caring staff and Vets. They have saved my dogs life by immediately finding her bladder stones and dealing with her seizures. My fur baby is one lucky girl to have such caring doctors. I also adopted my second Beagle from their Good Sams program. Another dog who had issues which they fully addressed before the adoption. I could not ask for better care
