Wonderful Staff Fabulous Vets Awesome Techs..... If you live in the area this IS the place for your furbabies to be looked after. Everyone we have encountered has been caring sincere knowedgable and professional...... Our rescue dog of 10 years "Doodle" has required laser treatments and injections for several years due to an old injury. We moved here in February from Georgia and we were panicked about finding a holistic minded vet..... one that would be minimally invasive and would be receptive to the treatments he was used to and comfortable with. Much to our surprise we found Animal Hospital at The Shores. They offer conventional veterinary services as well as alternative minimally invasive services. The first visit was rough because my 90 pound Lab/Chow mix refused to go into the room. Several of the staff came out and took the time to help coax him in. They put mats on the floor to help him walk and convinced him he was safe to do so and succeeded in getting him in the room one mat length at a time. Finding a new vet is hard but finding one that takes the time to win the trust of your pet is even harder.... I knew we found the right place after seeing how the staff patiently helped my scared buddy enter their facility.......From the 2nd visit onward Doodle prances in there like he owns the place and is always greeted with care love and affection...... I highly recommend the Animal Hospital at the Shores and so do my pets...... Tell them "Doodle" sent you !!!

What an amazing place. Not your local "how many dogs have been through here" smell. Clean. Friendly. Courteous. They treat others the way they want to be treated. We have a very active Weimaraner, 2 1/2 years old, who LOVES going to see them. Unfortunately, she has just that opportunity. Lots of health issues. Dr. Behrens suggested pet insurance right away when Mazie was 8 weeks old. What a blessing that has been! We got VPI. Having dogs for 35 years, I have seen most of them hide under chairs,cower in the corner, afraid of what is coming. Mazie Grace LOVES going there and seeing Dr. Behrens. Dr. Behrens also recommends us getting a second opinion on some issues just to confirm her diagnosis. We feel Mazie is in the best hands possible and appreciate the way the whole office conducts itself. Sometimes, procedures can be expensive but it is very difficult to simply put a cap on the animal and say , $500 is the limit I will spend. Again, her suggesting insurance has been a god-send. Definitely a 5 start Veterinarian! Maybe a 6 star!!!!

i agree with others review: over priced, never return. They had difficulty diagnosing what other vets said would have been basic. Even provided them urine test report and told them need ultrasound as technician recommend, but they keep the poor cat in cage for whole day even didnt touch him, when i came to pick him up, they have no any result and only trying to sale me some "health food" and placebo. Until i asked do they have ultrasound or not, they tell me doesnt have it. I hope they know whats they doing, they still charge me $55 for new patient exam fee, i have no idea whats the exam about without take cat out of cage. Anyhow, i paid but never back. Yes they are nice and looks friendly, but i take my cat come for treatment not for a temp stay, i dont know why they call them animal hospital since doesnt sounds like they knows about it, and i hope they could read and understand test report. good luck for Whoever still comes to here for their pet, but not for me and my pet.

The doctors are smart, patient, thorough, warm and very knowledgeable. They give advice over the phone if you need it and they really care about the animals, their people, and are willing to go out of their way to be helpful. I also find the other staff to be welcoming and friendly. The receptionist is always cuddling a dog or cat and my dog has no fear of going there.

I cant say enough about how wonderful Dr Behrens and the staff have been. I know my dogs are getting the best care and with acupuncture my older girl is now running again without pain meds. Having the holistic route as well as traditional is fantastic. I love that they really care about the animals and always do what is best for them. I LOVE this animal hospital!

I have taken my sheltie there since it was born and they have taken great care of him. When he was sick they saw him the same day that I called. I dont know if they are considered expensive as I dont shop for my dog care based on price anymore than I would select a doctor for myself, but I selected my veterinarian based on quality.

Dr. Behrens is an amazing vet. Most importantly, they really care about your pet and each time I brought my dog to her she was right on with the diagnose. I have moved out of state and Lexie had some serious issues. I reached out to Dr Behrens and she was willing and able to help.

Top notch vet and vet techs. My mini dachshund is afraid of most men, so going to a male vet that might handle her rough is scary for her. Their all female staff makes this much easier! They are very friendly and I know my dog is getting well taken care of.

I drive all the way from Gurnee to take my dog to Dr Behrens. The fact that shes an integrative Dr is beneficial because often we prefer to go the holistic route. Shes gone above & beyond for our fur baby. Extremely grateful for her & her staff.

The staff here is so helpful and caring toward my pets --- 3 guinea pigs and 1 cat. Dr. Auges fit in time to see my guinea pigs when one unexpectedly became ill. Dr. Behrens is a cat whisperer! (My cat is a calico). I wouldnt go anywhere else.

Dr Augie has a good working knowledge of birds, especially parrots. She is a tremendous local resource for exotic birds.
