CARE saved my Sadie, and it wasnt a walk in the park. When Sadie, a Golden, stopped eating and vomited, I rushed her to the vet because I had lost her predecessor, Maggie, after she showed the same symptoms (different vet). X-rays were inconclusive and Sadie had exploratory surgery for four hours as the doctor examined her intestines inch by inch for an abnormality. She found a section that hadnt yet perforated, but was on its way to failing, and removed it. Sadie came home with the cone of shame to heal, but within a day or two her head swelled up so big her eyes were little squinty lines in her head. The pictures are horrifying. The cause was unknown; no drugs worked so CARE put a drain that went in the top of her head and came out the side. It was messy, but her head returned to normal (except then she got dermatitis on the top of her head which cleared up quickly with something topical). I was totally comfortable about putting Sadie in CAREs hands. If there was a post-surgical test or procedure to be done, I dropped Sadie off on my way to work and picked her up on my way home. She didnt balk at going anymore than a dog does at the vet., and she was calm and at peace when I picked her up. I never tore my hair about how I was going to fit her needs into my day. And I never felt any misgivings about Sadies well-being while at CARE; I knew that all the right things were being done for her. I trusted CARE because I felt the commitment of each person there to do the right thing for these animals and their human parents. And I saw their medical knowledge and skill demonstrated as Sadie went through diagnosis and treatment. I couldnt believe her surgery took four hours during which the surgeon was on her feet examining every inch of Sadies intestines. That had to be a grueling experience. The skin on Sadies back split during those hours, creating a scar. When I glimpse the scar under her fur, it is a great reminder to be thankful that we are still together, and to be thankful to CARE. There are differences among veterinary practices, and if you feel any misgivings about the one you have, take your pet somewhere else until you feel it is the right place. If you pick CARE to begin with, you wont have to change.

I have been going to Care for over six years and had been going more out of habit than in loving the service they gave my Aussie Shepard. For having taken a pet there for 6 years, you would expect a certain level of professional insight into the pets health. When my six year old Aussie became ill suddenly, they were baffled by what the cause was and ran test after test for three weeks. Each time I went I had to start all over with what the problems were. Cody lost 12 pounds over three weeks of his original 50 pounds and all they could do was say they needed to rule out one thing after another. Finally, I took my dog to another Vet, who looked at the first set of x-rays that were done and said his liver was 30% of normal size and that it had shut down its functions. They did one sonar, confirmed the diagnosis and said that at this stage, he was terminal. Cody died three days later. Correct treatment prior may have prolonged his life, all though the liver was deformed from birth. And Care never noticed? And the fine people at Care have never even followed up with how Cody is doing. Their name is ironic at best and an outright lie in my opinion. If you expect professionalism and intelligent care of your pet, stay away from Care Animal Hospital of Libertyville.

This is the BEST place to take your pets. Why? Well start with a fabulous front desk staff that does everything in their power to help you. They take your needs and do whatever they can to help you. When my mother moved here she needed a special food for her two kitties that the clinic did not carry. What did they do? First they called all their competitors in the area to see if they carried the food. Nobody carried it so they found supplier and now we can get the food at the clinic. They "special" order the food and make sure there is a bag on hand when my mother needs it. I took my kitty to a competitor clinic that specialized in cats and found that I was tag teamed by the vet and the staff to have procedures I did not necessarily want to have done, food I did not want to buy, & constant phone calls attempting to guilt me into having dental done. This is NOT the case at Care. They listen to you as the "owner" and work out what is best for your kitty or dog. You simply could not ask for more in a clinic. If you doubt this, friend them on Facebook and just sit back and watch, they are wonderful!

Ive been going to Care for 4 years now and have received nothing but STELLAR care for my animals. Compassion, sincerity and professionalism is consistent. My entire family drives from all over Lake County to use Care and all feel the exact same way. Never have I been told we couldnt be seen same day, when it was an emergency. Every doctor, technician and office staff member is dedicated to you and your pets well being. They will ALWAYS flush out your options financially and whats in the best interest of your pet. It all starts with dialogue and communication. No one is a mind reader - so dont sit back and be a Monday morning quarterback when you should have been on the field with them. I am blessed that this practice has moral integrity and partners WITH me. I appreciate everything they have done and will continue to do for me, my family and my pets. great job, Care!

I was with another pet clinic for years and switched to Care when my daughter brought home an 8 week old sickly stray kitten. I didnt know how we could care for him. All the shelters were not taking any cats, period and I already had a dog and a senior cat that had special needs. We got in touch with Placing Paws and they had me take the little guy into Care for treatment. PP asked if we could foster him until they found him a home. We agreed and now we are his forever home for the past 2+ years. We were so impressed with the staff and the genuine concern for animals that I knew this is where all our pets should be. They are mindful of your budget and help you make to most critical decisions for your precious pets. I am always impressed with the entire staff on any given day. FIVE STARS

Six of my dogs have been through Care in Libertyville, with typically no issues. Routine exams and immunizations. My shephard had a facial injury with severe infection, and they were at a loss. They directed $400 in tests, more in prescriptions, and the injury got worse. The followed with even more in tests and presriptions, yet the problem got worse. Went to another vet and it was correctly diagnosed and infection nearly gone within 24 hours, for less money. The fact that all other routine appts were on time and perfect, it saved them a complaint to the state. In short Care is a good vet for day-to-day exams and shots, but not emergencies or "in-depth" labs/testing.
