I had one of the worst experiences Ive ever had at a vet, and Dr. Dan or whatever his name is (he never introduced himself) is one of the most pompous, rudest people I have ever talked to and he really has no idea what hes even talking about. I left after about 2 minutes of speaking to him. Hes not even very knowledgeable when it comes to nutrition for animals, yet he claims to be a nutritionist. Ill get to that in a minute. I feed my cat a raw, natural diet (REAL turkey, chicken, pork, duck, etc.) and none of that canned garbage, so I started looking around the area for a Holistic vet. When I called to ask, they said they do have a Holistic vet, so I made the appointment and brought my cat in. Dr. Dan asked what I was feeding her and I told him that I feed her a natural diet and before I could really finish, he says "Thats wrong." Every time I came back with a counter argument for following a natural diet, he just kept saying "Youre wrong" and couldnt even back up his claims. Then in a condescending tone he says "I have 49 years of experience, how much do you have?" He then goes on to say Science Diet is the best thing to feed her. This came as no surprise to me as EVERY vet recommends Science Diet since they are paid to do so. (Ever notice how every vet you walk into pushes it on you and has Science Diet flyers, signs, banners, and everything else there?) Clearly this guy has no clue about proper nutrition for an animal. Another example proving this, is right before he saw me, I heard him talking to the girl in the room next to me about what she feeds her dog. She said she feeds Blue Buffalo or Natural Balance, both of which are higher quality foods with all-natural ingredients. He says he personally hates those and doesnt recommend them. Sure enough he recommended Science Diet though which is a food that doesnt even use real meat but rather corn meal and meat by-products which are horrible for your animal. Anyway, not trying to go off on a rant here, but I would avoid this place at all costs. The Dr. is very unprofessional, rude, arrogant, and doesnt know nearly as much as he thinks he does. Like I mentioned earlier, I talked to him for about 2 minutes and I had enough and walked out.

I will start from the beginning so please bare with me. My fiancé took our dog to Stonebridge Animal Hospital because we suspected she had a Hemetoma on her ear (essentially a large blood blister). Dr. Dan saw her and scheduled us to bring her back the following day to have surgery to remove the Hemetoma from her ear. My fiance paid $120 which included the initial $50 vet appointment fee and some medications we were supposed to give her in the following day (I will get back to the medication issue in a little bit). The following day I went to pick her up and they charged a second charge of $160.00. This charge was for her to have the surgery, for tranquilizers to allow them to work on her, for the bandages and additional medications they needed to give her because of the surgery. When I picker her up she had her entire head wrapped in gauze to keep her ear from being able to flap or get infected and her head was in a cone. They told me that she couldnt get wet, that I should keep her from scratching her head or flapping her ears and that she needed to keep the cone/bandages on until our next appointment about a week later. Three full days after her surgery we got a phone call from the vet stating that they "thought" they saw worms in her poop 3 days earlier and they wanted me to bring in stool samples to have them tested. I asked why it took them a full 3 days to let me know there might be an issue and they apologized saying the nurse didnt say anything about it to anyone until Saturday when they called me. They asked me to bring in stool samples for both or dogs, the one that had surgery and our 5 month old puppy to have them tested for worms. The puppy had just been de-wormed but they told me that if one dog had it the other one would most likely have it as well. I brought it two stool samples (one for each dog). I was skeptical to bring it because I had not noticed an issue with either dog and felt as if they were just "suggesting" additional services to be done that we did not need. But, I listened to the professionals and brought in both dogs stool samples to have them tested. I was charged $89.00 in stool sample and medications on my visit.

The good thing about this clinic is that its in an easy to find location and it has a nice, big, but almost always empty waiting room. Why is it empty? Because anyone in their right mind would never bring their pet here. This vet advertises cheap prices in his window and people think, "what harm can a cheap rabies shot do? A rabies shot is a rabies shot anywhere, right?" Thats how I ended up in there, because I was new to the area and my pet was due for his rabies. I figured Id go in just for the super cheap rabies shot and decide once I met him if Id continue to use him for my new vet. Once hes got you in his exam room though, he wont let you leave without tons of other things you never asked for or wanted. Hell demean you and arrogantly spout how experienced he is, while making you feel like you couldnt possibly know better than he does, and implying that if you dont care about your animal go ahead and leave without the vaccines that could save his life. On top of that, hell find bogus heart conditions that MUST have an EKG, MUST have blood work that is very expensive and unneeded on a healthy 2 year old dog and he absolutely wont give you a prescription to get your routine flea preventative and heartworm medicine online for tons cheaper. My $59 visit to him cost me $457 by the time I left and of course I will never, ever return. Hes totally unprofessional, sloppy and a pretty disgusting human being. My friend interviewed for a job as a vet tech there the same summer and she said what you dont see in the back would shock anybody who didnt know a thing about vet clinics. Old and outdated machines and lab equipment, and worst of all it smelled and was filthy. She didnt even want to see where he operated because the rest of the back rooms where so awful. So think twice before you get involved with this condescending con artist. Hes a rotten vet that will cost you more in the long run than you ever dreamed possible.

I had been going to several big clinics in the area and each time I would see a different veterinarian. I wanted to find a place where I could see the same doctor each time so that I wouldn’t need to start over each time I came in. That is what first brought me in to Stonebridge Animal Hospital. Dr. Dan has taken care all four of my dogs. Dr. Dan has always been direct about what he recommends as far as treatment, but has always been respectful if I decline his recommendation. He has treated 2 of them for allergies, my elderly poodle for fluid buildup and heart condition, and all the dogs for routine vaccinations and dental cleanings. Dr. Dan was able test my dogs for allergies and get them started on allergy shots and within 3 weeks their skin started returning to normal. Although the testing was not cheap, I was able to stop feeding them the $90 per bag prescription science diet food and now have two dogs that don’t link themselves raw. The staff has also been wonderful. If I need to call and ask a question, bring one of my dogs in for an emergency, or even ask about a bill. No matter what animal hospital you go to it costs a lot of money, but I have found Stonebridge Animal Hospital to be reasonably priced with a staff that genuinely cares about your pet.
