I decided to look up reviews of other patients because I am still hurt by our familys treatment by the office manager at Oak Park Pediatrics. I am disappointed but not surprised to see there are other complaints about the lack of respect shown to other clients and perspective clients by this individual. I have never been treated with so much haughtiness, contempt, disrespect and egregious, classist behavior in a customer service setting as I have by this woman. When I questioned the woman about her negative tone of voice when I was simply calling to inquire about a resource and a question regarding my childs insurance, she became defensive, aggressive, belittling, sarcastic, and somehow (although I am not sure how it is even possible), even more rude. I had none of my questions answered and was made to feel not good enough to bring my child to this uppity practice. I was so upset that my husband had to call back and inquire who this woman was. When I finally did speak to her about how she treated me, she said, "I really dont know why youre so upset. And in fact, as I am sitting here everyone who can hear this conversation is looking on wondering what I possibly could have done to have you so upset." Lovely. Is it good customer service to treat a client with complete and utter disrespect, then emotionally hijack the conversation and sarcastically imply that the client is a lunatic when confronted about it? Even after being questioned by my husband and myself, she did not apologize for her behavior. I was absolutely livid, to say the least, and thoroughly disappointed in man kind. This womans behavior was reprehensible. My husband went to pay our childs balance and the woman receiving payment acted shocked that he was there to pay the balance. This was also offensive on many levels. We have not been back since. The experience is quite sad. Poor customer service at a pediatricians office should not be the reason for finding another practice for our children. From what I can see, this behavior is a pattern and has driven away business for more than one family. My child received excellent, kind, respectful, professional care from each of the pediatricians he saw while we attended this practice. Fortunately, we found another pediatrician of the same caliber at another practice. On a more macro level scale, this particular experience stung me because living in this community, one holds a high standard for the acceptance and tolerance of others, regardless of race, class or gender. This office manager is not a reflection of the overall experience we have on a day to day basis living here, but it was one of the FIRST experiences we had after moving here. It is not right that this practice hold the name of the community as part of its business name. The service we received is truly not a reflection of the way people treat each other here.

Im not a patient here, but was hoping to be. I just moved to the area from across the country and in our first weeks here, my son came down with a horrible fever that he cant shake. I called yesterday, was told the front desk would call back since they were on lunch. Never got a call back. Called today, and was told no appointments are available for weeks. I advised the gal on the phone about my sons severe fever/cough, and was advised they cant even "think" about scheduling him until they receive a full medical record, which cant be faxed or e-mailed, and must be mailed from the prior office we went to in Portland, OR. I attempted to give my insurance info, and was cut off rudely by front desk gal. This is my job, also. I AM front desk at another medical office and this is NOT the way to treat new patients, especially ones with sick little kiddos trying to get them taken care of. Was planning on making my son a patient here as Id heard good things, but wont be doing this anymore. Super disappointed.

Would have loved to have my baby come here, however I called to see if this office accepted our insurance and was told by whoever answered the phone that she "doesnt know". She told me Id have to call my insurance company and ask. I let her know Ive already spoken to them and they told me to ask the doctors office if they accept my plan. The lady proceeded to tell me that she doesnt know and Ill have to look it up on my own. How can I do that when you dont have that information on your website? Isnt that part of the job of the office staff - to let me know if they accept my insurance...? I went with another provider and am happy.

I took off two points because the front desk staff, and the Office Manager who is also a treating provider are EXTREMELY RUDE, including hanging up on patients, QUESTIONABLE BILLING PRACTICES, etc...the only reason why I continue to frequent this Pediatric Provider is because my kids Pediatrician, Dr. Haro is the ONLY provider that holds this practice together. He is absolutely the best provider hands down!!! If this office reads this, this is an area that MUST BE IMPROVED UPON...professionalism, empathy, and demonstrated compassion for ALL patients concerned!!
