The people writing these reviews work for Thriveworks and are friends/relatives of the therapists. Nicola Hopkins IS a GREAT, AMAZING, CARING, COMPASSIONATE therapist until you say something wrong. Then you are terminated from services even though you were a loyal and faithful client for 3 years. I was terminated a month ago then all these positive reviews started popping up from very familiar names after I left a real and honest review on Yelp. I was in a MAJOR crisis and my therapist, whom I trusted with my life, terminated me with no warning and absolutely no valid reason. I am STILL feeling the effects EVERY DAY and am having to go through MAJOR grief/loss/abandonment processing with another therapist 5 days a week at 1.5 hours/day (on top of trying to deal with C-PTSD and on-going trauma). And am having extensive doctor/hospital visits due to extreme stress levels causing my blood sugar to sky rocket and remain at dangerous levels (I am a brittle Type 1 diabetic). I would DEFINITELY recommend Nicola BUT only if you need short term therapy. If you have extensive trauma and need someone long term, keep looking. Beware who you show your heart to, not everyone deserves that part of you. I learned this the hardest and worst way possible. THAT is an HONEST review. "Like a small boat On the ocean Sending big waves Into motion Like how a single word Can make a heart open I MIGHT ONLY HAVE ONE MATCH BUT I CAN MAKE AN EXPLOSION And all those things I didnt say Wrecking balls inside my brain I will scream them loud tonight CAN YOU HEAR MY VOICE THIS TIME? This is my fight song TAKE BACK MY LIFE SONG Prove Im alright song My powers turned on STARTING RIGHT NOW ILL BE STRONG Ill play my fight song And I dont really care if nobody else believes Cause Ive still got a lot of fight left in me" (THANK YOU PAIGE FOR BELIEVING IN ME AND GIVING ME THE STRENGTH TO FIGHT DAY AFTER HORRIBLE DAY)
Thriveworks is absolutely AMAZING! I am so lucky to have the opportunity to have Nicola Hopkins as my therapist. I was very nervous and scared about starting therapy and sharing my story with someone, but I am so grateful that I did! Nicola is caring, understanding, and honestly the first person I want to talk to when anything good or bad happens. She has helped me better understand myself and start healing in one of the most difficult times of my life. She made me feel comfortable in our very first session, and she will always have my utmost trust. I have been seeing Nicola for almost a year now and plan on continuing to see her for a long time. I dont know where I would be without the help she has given me. If you feel alone, defeated, or scared, PLEASE talk to Nicola Hopkins. She genuinely cares, and she will help you through whatever trial, however big or small.
Amanda Brooks Gilliam was our adopted Daughters therapist from the time she entered custody and even continued seeing her after she was adopted. Our daughter felt as though she could easily relate with Amanda. As parents Amanda was able to bridge the communication gaps in addition to helping all of us learn how to function as a family unit. Amanda was able to speak truth when it needed to be done but also give ways to move forward once issues were brought to light. She was available during critical moments and always offered support to us day or night. I am thankful that our Daughter has a therapist who she can count on and move through life with. I would highly recommend her, especially with children who have been/are in foster care or have experienced trauma.
I am happy to have Amanda Brooks as a therapist. She works with me and my college school schedule. She is so personable to me which helps me to feel like we have a good therapist/patient relationship. I am not afraid to open up to her and really tell her what is going on with me and my personal struggles. She helps me to think on my issues and come up with healthy ways to handle them, which causes me to continue to grow as a person. Being a Christian, I always bring up my faith and how important it is to me. Amanda helps me to integrate the spiritual side with the psychological aspect of myself which helps me to better analyze my emotions, my faith, and my environment. I recommend her for children, to teens, and even young adults.
I have been bringing my son to Amanda for a while now, we adopted him through foster care and due to severe abuse and neglect at an early age AND because my son is on the spectrum with a developmental delay and ADHD we needed someone who really knew what they were doing......Amanda has been amazing with him! Her knowledge of early childhood trauma, her patience with my son (who can be a huge handful), and her ability to explain so much to me during this process is so greatly appreciated, hands down she is a great person and wonderful at what she does! The office is also a clean and comfortable enviroment, you will not regret making an appointment !! I wish we had found thrive works sooner!
Amanda Gilliam is my counselor and shes absolutely amazing! Her knowledge of trauma is phenomenal and has helped me overcome so much from my past. She is very loyal and gentle in her way of counseling, but she isnt afraid to speak truth. She loves me so well and I have recommended her to some friends too. She is always doing her best to fit everyone in her schedule. I have never had a counselor that actually understands me and what is going on. She walks your journey with you so closely and is always positive. I would recommend her to anyone!
Amanda has been such a blessing to our family. My 8 year old started seeing her at the end of the summer. During the sessions, Amanda taught her how to use her words and express herself through play therapy. Amanda always makes herself available to us and has helped my daughters school to better understand her and help with her self esteem. My progress my daughter has made has been wonderful. I would highly recommend Amanda to any family who needs patience and guidance with their children.
I cant thank Amanda Brooks enough. Shes an amazing person and Thriveworks is an amazing place. After calling about 15 therapists and getting immediately turned away, Thriveworks returned my call within the hour and Amanda was hand-picked for me and my situation. I got an appointment scheduled that day. Theres ALWAYS time for me and scheduling/canceling is never a hassle. Theres a therapist on call 24/7 and Amanda always makes time for me when I need it. It makes getting better easy.
Teresa is unethical and unprofessional. She was supposed to be working with me and my children to build a relationship that was destroyed during a divorce. She took it upon herself to side with the children and insult me in-front of them. Counselors are not supposed to choose a side they are to stay neutral. She is the most unprofessional person I have ever came in contact with. I will never return to Thriveworks and would NEVER recommend her to anyone.
Very professional, a warm and friendly experience. Ive been seeing Justin for several months. Ive visited the office several times and because of my job Im out of town for a couple months at a time. They offer video sessions and without this option I would still be struggling with my issues. Im grateful for the guidance and council Justin has provided. On a personal note, I know my wife is grateful as well!
