Rescue center gave us certificate good only at this vet for our kittens spay. The conditions in the back must be horrendous to make the entire place smell so badly. The smell makes it hard to breathe. The staff is rude & uneducated about procedures. Im not having trouble with what Im being told, although the fact that they have no idea what theyre talking about does concern me. Calling to make a surgery appointment and being told a date without being given a time or any additional instructions is rude and anyone should have a problem with that. I shouldnt have to stop the person from hanging up on me in order to find out what time my appointment is for. I shouldnt be told one price when Im making my appointment for vaccinations and then hit with an extra $40 when I check out and nothing additional was done. My kitten was spayed & either they lied about when they did the surgery, or they seriously over-medicated her. I had to make an ER visit to another vet to stabilize her and they were disgusted with her poor quality of care. The rescue has had many complaints about this clinic. Surgeries are so overbooked that quality of care is compromised. I cannot warn people enough about this clinic. If you care about your pets at all, take them to Ark of the Dunes Animal Hospital or McAfee. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET.

This is a FANTASTIC vet! Have been a client for over 20 years. Have had other vets in the past. This man is caring, genuine, knows my dogs by name without seeing the files. The staff is compassionate and you can tell they really like animals. But like anyone else they can have bad days. And his over-all rates are the most reasonable in the area in my experinece Yes, the wait is long, perhaps because he is so well loved. I can take a little smell, it is far better than breathing toxic cleaning products all the time. But the instruments and exam rooms are very clean and properly disinfected. Its a matter of personal choice which vet one chooses.. If time is money to you, then go elsewhere. As for me, I enjoy talking with all the other pet lovers in the office. All vet care is pricey, as it is expensive to own an animal and take proper care of it. But this guy is most reasonable in my experience. Are they perfect, no, like all humans they sometimes make mistakes. When looking at the decades of great care my animals recieved, the mistakes are few and far between. And the fact that this doctor cares for injured wildlike speaks volumes about his heart. This is not to dis other vets in the area. Their are many very fine ones. But this one is my favorite.

I will no longer be bringing my dogs here. Our pup was spayed five days ago. It became infected. First off on the website it does not recommend any in case of emergency numbers or facilities to go to. We went to coyne in portage. Vet looked at it and was shocked at what she saw and heard. She did not understand why they stitched it the way they did and she had to put a staple in. She was astonished that no pain meds or anti-inflammatory meds were given to take home after spay, which she gave us. Our pup had to be cleaned, stapled, given a b12 shot, fluids and a couple more shots. The vet was super friendly and down to earth and talked us through everything. You can tell everyone at coyne really cares about animals in the way everyone greeted and talked to her. Unlike westchester. The staff is super unfriendly and makes you feel like you are just another number at a deli counter. We are proud to be coyne customers from now on. Dr Reed is an amazing vet but he is the only one so we strongly recommend if you go to westchester ONLY ask for him.

My granddaughter and I found a wounded seagull in the middle of a busy road. We went home and grabbed our cat carrier and the gull walked right in. After several telephone calls, we found that WAC treats wildlife for the State. We took the seagull there. The staff was friendly and the waiting room was very crowded with so many species of pets. Yes you could note smells and yes you could scope the waiting room and note everyday people that loved their pets and were probably spending their last on their loved one. We noted several deer and other wildlife in the back outdoor pens. Once we got home, the nurse called to let my granddaughter know that the doctor had to put it down as it suffered damage to its head. Didnt have to do that knowing it was wild. My granddaughter had a great first experience to save wildlife and now wants to be a vet. Currently she volunteers taking care of two horses. This experience truly changed her life.

Dr. Reed is amazing! I will always recommend him to anyone and everyone thats asks me about a vet. I do have a very big problem with the women at the front desk.... There are always about 5 women just wondering around chit chatting, sipping on water bottles, rearranging office supplies ... They never ask if youve been helped. The phone will ring off the hook and no one answers. I called in my dogs Medicine this morning, I was on hold for 15 minutes before the woman got on to take my name, the dogs name and the med. Then when I went to pick it up, I waited 35 minutes before standing at the desk for 15 just to ask if I could get it because I had an appointment. No one ever acknowledged me. This happens everytime I go in. I do understand they must be busy, but Ive never seen people completely ignore paying customers. I certainly could never do that at my job, and still have a job.

I have been going to Dr. Reed for at least 15 years. He is a great vet, but today when I was there they had 2 guinea pigs that needed a home. My sister and her family love guinea pigs, so she agreed to adopt them. She currently has one from there that she adopted last year and it is doing great! Well, they wouldnt let her adopt them because she wasnt a client of theirs. Here is someone willing to give them a loving home and they wont let her adopt them! I even offered to adopt them, but they said I couldnt because I would give them to my sister. I will not go back to Dr. Reed for this reason. If their goal isnt to adopt out the animals that are dropped off there, then this saddens me. The front desk refused to let me speak to Dr. Reed about it. Because of this I will not be going back to Dr. Reed and am going to pickup my dogs records.

Dr. Reed and his daughter, who is now a veterinarian are the best around the area. The staff that assist them are great, too but, they are very busy and the receptionists up front, are less tben the rest of them. They can be very rude and also, not compassionate. My cat died over night in there care, they were tellig me she died after surgery when she didnt even have surgery, yet. She was in there two nights, maybe if they did the surgery right away, who kowns, but she should of been with me if they were gonna put off surgery for 2 days, at least she would of been comfortable. This makes me cry right now as im typing this. And it happen a year and half ago. Regardless, the people up front, were not sympathetic and didnt know or lied about what was the real deal with my cat.
