After doing our research and hearing so many wonderful things about Underdog, we decided to go with them for adopting the newest addition to our family. We appreciated the community that they built and their process for dog adoptions. While we understand that many people have had wonderful experiences with Underdog, ours was awful. We know that it is a great rescue, and we very much wanted to be part of their community. We completed the application process. We even donated to them. But when we were interested in dogs, Underdog was nowhere to be found. We would contact them about dogs we wete interested in and wanted to meet, and we got no reply. After a week of no response, we would contact them again, nothing. Once we heard that they were contacting the fosters for a dog we wanted to meet and that they would be in touch with us. We never heard from them. It became very stressful and hopeless. We never got to meet one dog even though our application was approved. We never even got to talk to anyone once our app was approved. We gave up on Underdog. We have heard and seen such wonderful things from Underdog, so we feel like this was an isolated incident which in all honesty, makes it feel worse. Why us? Why even approve us?

We adopted a dog from Under Dog that had been found in Alabama just over a year ago. We have adopted 5 rescues in the past 18 years, so her problems werent daunting to us.....then Maddie got a positive test for heartworm and we were devastated. We had just gone to the Under Dog office in Monona for a "meet and greet" and had brought Maddie and our bulldog along. Everyone was thrilled to see her! When told of her diagnosis a week later, they offered to assist financially in her treatment. My husband and I cant thank Loren and her staff enough for helping us out. ...we had just lost our Frenchy to cancer earlier this Spring and were so afraid of losing another. We have had a great experience and adopted the sweetest kitten. It did take them a day or two to email me back originally. I think they mainly have a lot of volunteers working and they foster most the animals. You have to request to see specific ones vs going to the Humane Society where you can see all available animals instantly. I believe our kitten coming from a foster has made him accustomed to handling and being around other cats, which is good! Thank you Underdog.

We spent the entire day trying to find a perfect kitten and we found him here! The staff was so incredibly helpful and the animals are all so happy and sweet. The ambience was homey and comforting, which is such a delightful change from some of the other shelters.

My boyfriend came in today to adopt a cat for me, and the person working was rude and told him to comeback a specific day between 2 hours on a day my boyfriend works. These people denied a cat a nice home and were unwilling to work with a promising customer.
