I went to Dr. Randolph this morning as a follow-up for a cat I adopted from the Humane Society. I chose him because I couldn’t coordinate a workable time with my usual vet. Because he’s closer than my usual vet, I was open to switching if it turned out that he was as good as she is. I walked in with high expectations because of the other reviews I’ve seen. The ladies in the office were attentive and helpful. One spoke to my animals and my child in the same baby-talk tone of voice, as though he was particularly stupid, which I did not appreciate. For the most part, they were fine. I appreciated the thoroughness of the exam on my cats and the explanations I received for what he was doing. However, Dr. Randolph was condescending and pushy. He spoke down to me and lectured me without listening to what I was saying. Instead of asking, he told me that my cat needed an allergy shot. He didn’t tell me what the price was; he didnt tell me if there were potential alternatives if I didnt want the shot. He simply brought it in and administered it to my cat. I’m a very passive and nonconfrontational person (reviews like this are very difficult for me to write, but since the owner dismissed the only other negative review as a disgruntled former employee, I really feel obligated to mention this), and I rely on others’ professionalism -- at the very least, “is this okay with you?” He’s an indoor cat that sometimes goes outside, so occasionally, we get fleas inside. It happens. I am fanatical about it. If I see one flea, the cats get bathed and treated, the house gets sprayed with an IGR, I vacuum everything and wash everything, and I follow up. The way he lectured me was like I had an infestation because my cat apparently developed an allergy all of a sudden (after five+ years without difficulties) that will trigger based on one flea bite. Advice I assume was meant to be helpful was delivered as though I was incapable of understanding what he was saying. I prefer the flea treatment that I use, but he told me which one I was going to use and said he’d give my cat a dose before I left -- again, without asking or quoting a price. I happen to know that the one he tried to push onto me is considerably more expensive than the one I use. Yes, it has its advantages, but I’ve had no issues with mine. Luckily, it was forgotten until I got to the front desk and I was paying for my services. I really didn’t appreciate his salesman-like attitude, his pushiness, or the way he talked down to me. I regret not being able to go to my regular vet, and I wish I had chosen someone else off of the list.

Dr. Randolph and his staff are the best. Their services are great and they are not overpriced. They truly care about you and your pets needs. Our puppy became deathly ill and Dr. Randolph and his staff safely guided us through every step of the way. It was quite a process. The same week as our puppy became ill, the flu hit our household so you could only imagine we were exhausted and emotional. They took the time to answer all of our questions and also educate us so that we could care for our sick pup at home as we were trying to stay away from the hospital if possible. They replied to our phone calls and messages (if the clinic was closed when I called) even during after hours and weekends. They made sure we had emergency phone numbers in case anything happened in the middle of the night and we urgently needed care. They were thorough and covered all bases. They take true pride in their business of pet care and hospitality. If you want good pet care that is local and quality people who are there genuinely because they want to be there and not just trying to make a buck, make sure you visit Dr. Randolph! We honestly cant give enough praise! *** A very special Thank You to Holly for you care, concern, counseling and helping me through such a difficult time! Your hugs helped me through my tears more than you know.

I am mortified to see the comment from Michael on Aug 5, 2010. I have NEVER found Dr. Randolphs manner to be anything but professional, considerate and caring for my pets. He treats each animal with individual care and does not relate one personality to the other. A regular visit is at leat 30 minutes for each pet as he verbalizes every result of the THOUROUGH exam in addition to giving a written report. I have never felt rushed or as though I was asking too many questions in regaurd to my concerns. Dr. Randolph is very attentive to any questions that I ask, making sure I completely understand his explanation. As far as the cost of his services, I will agree that the fee is higher than other Veteirnary practices in the area. I have considered searching elsewhere for this reason, but my thought is my pets are part of my family and I would not look for a "cheaper" Dr. for personal care. With that said, I would not discount any other Vetenarians in the area but appreciate the knowlege that is shared by Dr. Randolph and his carefully selected staff.

My family has a long connection with Dr. Randolf and his staff. My mother first took her miniature poodle Cocco to Dr. Randolf in the early 80s. My brother his dachshund Candy in the 90s. Most recently my wife and I took our golden retriever Blue. Dr. Randolf and his assistant Holly helped Blue enjoy and extend his final years on the coast. As a result, they helped us enjoy that time with our good friend Blue. Given family and personal perspectives, which span over 30 years, we fully know and trust Animal General Hospital. From observing the sincere care and top notch professionalism afforded by Dr. Randolf and his staff, we fully recommend Animal General Hospital for your pets care.

I have been bringing by beloved dog Moxie to Dr Randolph since I got her a few years ago. She really does love Dr Randolph. She cant wait to get out of the car and go in. This in spite of the shots and exams and treatments. She enjoys her visits very much. I also like Dr Randolph . He is through and professional and always takes time to explain to me what he is doing and the results of his exam. I always get a written report as well. His staff is friendly and very helpful. He maintains a blog and I get quite a bit of very useful info from it. I would highly recommend the " Animal Genaral Hospital" to anyone looking for a vet that will care about your pets as much as you do!

Dr. Randolph and his staff have been our pet family members needs for well over twenty years. The care, concern, and energy Dr. Randolph provides to our babies has added so much to the quality of their lives. We have been blessed to enjoy all of our pets well over ten years, in an active happy manner, often close to and beyond fifteen years. Perhaps the most striking part of our involvement is the tender and loving approach he takes when it is time to say goodbye to our babies, always after a rousing fight to overcome whatever ailed them. We would never consider using another veterinarian unless it was an emergency.
