My dog was very uncomfortable early on Sunday morning and not eating. I took him to PetSmart that day for a nail trim as planned, and the groomer told me she discovered an abscess on him. I was not familiar with what emergency options were available to me close by. She suggested Creature Comforts, as they are open on Sundays. I went in and asked if they could see us and they took us into a room right away. I was told that 2 vets were on duty and 1 was in surgery, so I might have to wait a little while. I only waited about 15 minutes, though. The doctor confirmed that my dog did have an abscess that needed to be drained and said they could take him back and get started on it right away. When the doctor showed me the treatment plan cost, I was *shocked* by what I did NOT see… an emergency fee. I have had to take pets to after-hours emergency care, and it has been $125+ just to walk in the door, so it was a big sigh of relief. The treatment costs were very reasonable. They also take CareCredit as well as debit cards, etc., so that was also a plus. The doctor was very personable and took her time with us, answering all questions, making sure I understood everything, another thing that has been lacking in other urgent care pet situations. It was like we were regular patients. I got a follow-up call and had a chance to ask a couple of more questions. Again, treated like a regular patient. This was a very good experience and it is good to know if another Sunday issue arises, there is a great option available. If I lived in Ankeny, I would choose this clinic as my regular one.

I have a small puppy about 8 pounds. He jumped out of someones arms and fractured his leg over the weekend. The staff was really good about getting us into a room with him right away and the Veterinarian was very good with our puppy. The only reason why Im not giving it a 5 start is because I had to make an appointment to get my puppy in there to see them. It made me really nervous waiting to get into there, not knowing what was wrong with him and he was in severe pain. Broke my heart. Other than that, they were very professional. The first trip was fine. This last trip was not. Every 8 days or so I have to bring him back in to rewrap the splint. This last trip was not a good experience. The 1st vet had it rewrapped and they didnt tape up the top of his splint. I had him home 5 minutes before I could put on a cone and he already chewed into the splint. If they taped the top of the splint he couldnt have done that. Then I take him right back and they told me I wouldnt have to pay to rewrap the splint. The head Vet changed the splint (which hasnt worked as well at all) and when I walked out they charged me double what I paid an hour before..... They didnt wrap it correctly the first time and I end up paying the price. I am taking my baby elsewhere.

We have been using Creature Comforts for our dog for the past 3 years. We have never had a bad experience while there. All of their doctors are very good with our dog and very, very informative. They are not pushy at all which I appreciate a lot. The clinic is very clean and the front office staff always know who we are when we walk in. I would say prices are fairly average compared to other places- maybe slightly higher but the quality is much better. We had to use them last year for an emergency procedure for our dog; she almost died. I am convinced she would have had we brought her anywhere else. They took such great care of our dog for the seven days she was hospitalized. They even called to check on her after we brought her home. They were even willing to see a stray cat at the last minute that we found severely abused and were able to help us find options that did not require us to spend any money. Even now we are dealing with a severe medical situation with our dog and they are very compassionate. The doctors have been calling us almost everyday to check on her and what her progress is and are very supportive of us as pet parents. We will never use another vet clinic.

A couple days ago she stopped eating, drinking, and moving. She slept all day and wouldnt move except when I pulled her out from under my bed to make her drink water from a syringe. I took her to Creature Comforts and they did blood and urine tests on her and found out that her white blood count was extreamly high. They took her back for an emergency surgery (emergency spay) and found out that her uterus was so filled with infection that it had exploded. They did the best they could to get the infection out but couldnt get it all because it started attaching itself to her insides. They stayed at a minimum of an hour and a half after the clinic closed just to check on Bebe because she wanted to make sure she was going to be okay. Then continuously through the day the doctors had nurses going back and giving her TLC. I love this vet, they care for their patients and their families too! I would reccommend this vet clinic to anyone who loves their four legged family members. Thank you so much to the doctors, nurses, and other staff that have been taking such great care of my baby!

Ive never had a bad experience at Creature Comforts until today. My bf had taken our dog in there on Tuesday for a annual exam/ shots. He also had purchased heart worm and flea/ tick medication, not knowing I had also purchased flea/tick medication somewhere else. Today, Thursday.. I went back to return the flea/tick medication. The girl up front was very snobby and told me they dont usually refund stuff like that because it is considered a prescribed medication. Mind you, I had not opened the medication nor had it been very long since it was purchased. I understand its a medication but, I was not aware it was a prescription beings you can purchase flea medicine just about anywhere. When I nicely told the lady that it may be important to let patients know that its a prescription and that its non refundable. She replied with, "its common sense." She rubbed me the wrong way with her attitude. As much as I am thankful that they refunded my money, I was displeased with her snobby attitude upfront. Hopefully I wont experience that again.

I have had my dog to Creature Comforts 4 times. He has been seen by each 1 of the vets( the owner twice) ,all are very nice. theyre very thorough but not charging you for or putting your pet through unnecessary testing and procedures. all of the staff are very pleasant and knowledgeable and are all about the animals. My puppy is afraid of being examined on tables so they have marked his chart and each time we go in they do the full examination on the floor at his level so that he is not in fear.Their hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. everyday of the week and on our last visit they were happy to stay late so we could bring our sick pup in. I called them at 7:30pm, did not get there until 8 when they should have been closing, and we were treated as if we were the first patient of the day. VERY VERY VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!
